Measles Outbreak

In a recent article in January people were freaking out about measles hitting Oregon

and that the thing with measles is that it is airborne. If you just go where where the

person infected has been or near them and it is saying if you are not vaccinated you

have a 90% chance of catching the disease. It is so contagious that a person that has it

can leave the room and it will still be in the air for about 2 hours and ready to attach

itself to another person. Now it is tough because lots of people do not believe in

vaccinations and still live there life like a normal person which there is nothing wrong

with that besides the fact that they are more susceptible to getting the disease but also

an easier way to spread it from lets says stores or air ports for a big one. Now after

about a couple weeks measles has hit areas around oregon like Washington and such.

Also it is tough because all of the schools and all of the children's parents have different

beliefs on vaccinations. Another issue is that so far the vaccination is very effective so

they say and that doctors are pushing parents to save their kids and themselves. It is

said that in Washington that 78% of 6-18 years olds have been vaccinated and the

other 22% have been the issue and that's another reason why measles is spreading so

badly. It is also said that today Friday they will be having a hearing on what the people

need to do to help prevent the measles from hitting a high rise.

In my eyes I do feel nervous about vaccines but ones that we have had around for a

while I feel are okay but the newer ones make me more nervous because doctors don’t

always tell you what they are putting in your body. But now that measles is coming back

I do feel it would be a good idea if people tried to prevent the disease and also get the
Measles Outbreak
vaccine for the whole family because everyone in the house goes somewhere everyday

with people and by the end of the night you are back at home sleeping, but what you do

not know is that you have picked up measles from that person you said hi to at the store

and your child has also picked up measles from sharing at school, and just like that the

whole house is now holding measles. Even better you are hosting your kids birthday

party the next day and everyone you know will be there and now after that party

measles is attached to the majority of people and once they leave your house it is on its

way to spreading. So I do think this is going to be a problem for many families and

people that travel and do not have their vaccines.
