I. Introduction
But the Philippines is moving forward, it may take time and a lot of patience before
the traffic actually lessens. The LRT extension is on its way, providing quality service
for the mass as it connects Manila to the province of Bulacan. Laws are being passed
to educate people who are using the side of the roads as private parkings that in
turn clogs the one lane. The Philippines is indeed on the right direction, with the
proper leader and the community realizing that it is not too late to change what they
are accustomed to, then the country’s problem with mass transportation will be
solved little by little by the coming years.
The route of SM North to UST is selected by the researchers, public vehicles such as
UV express and Jeepneys are plenty in this route, buses on the other hand is the
complete opposite as there are no buses going by this route. During peak hours, Uv
express and jeepneys is not enough to satisfy the demand for this route as there too
many students or workers around U-Belt that goes to SM North.
In this survey we ask some people around the campus to help us generate our survey and we
found out that 43.3 % were in the Arts and Letters, 20 % in Architecture and 36.7 % in Engineering
In the 30 responses that we gathered in this question, the smallest percentage that we got is
that 3.3% or more than 8 times a week are riding a UV. Then the second is 23.3% or 1 to 2 times a week
of them are using the UV. Third is 26.7% or 3 to 4 times a week of them are riding the UV while the
most number of percentage is 46.7% or 5 to 8 times a week is riding the UV.
How long is your usual travel time from UST to SM North? SM North to UST?, 63.3% are
traveling for more than 1 hour from UST to SM North or vice versa. While 30% says that they consume
30 minutes to 1 hour in traveling and 6.7% says that they are just traveling it in less than 30 minutes.
80% says that they are satisfied with the fare that they are paying, while 20% of them are saying
they are not happy with the amount.
In this question they are ask to rate how comfortable they are in riding a UV and 56.7% of them
says that they are in rank 3 of being comfortable in riding a UV. While 23.3% says that they are mostly
comfortable. 13.3% are uncomfortable or second in the lease confortable and the extremely
uncomfortable are 6.7%.
50% says that they are sometimes they are accessible to UV while 20% says that they are
accessible to the said vehicle including the people who are unaccessible to the UV also said 20%. Then
the 10% says that they are very unaccessible to the said mode of transport.
The responses were ask if how safe is the UV Express and 43.3% says that the UV Express is safe
to ride also the people who rank safe has the same percentage. While, 10% of them felt unsafe in riding
this vehicle and 3.3% says that they feel very unsafe in riding UV Express.
They were ask to rank their convenience in riding this UV Express and 66.7% of them says that they are
convenient and 20% says that they are mostly convenient. The people who says that they are
unconvenient and very unconvenient got the same percentage of 6.7%.
III. Conclusion
The Public Vehicle Satisfaction Survey aims to measure the satisfaction of UST
students that uses the UST to SM north route and vice versa. With the given criteria,
responents are tasked to rate their satisfaction with UV Express that traverses this
route.
The respondents then was presented with criterias of satisfaction on the selected
PUV. The criteria comprises of comfortability, accessibility, safety and convenience.
Travel time, PUV utilization per week and fare satisfaction is also present in the
survey to further understand the commuters answer.
Respondents are generally satisfied but are they satisfied just because they have no
choice or there are no more viable option? Many more variables needs to be
considered. Traffic congestion is one of the problems that this route encounters as
can be inferred from the travel time of the respondents. The government should
take steps in regulating traffic and improving the transportation in this area
especially since Espana is one of the most congested highways in Metro Manila
