1.0. Introduction

1.1. Background

Multinational companies (MNC) are companies has facilities and assets invested in difference country (Host country), and

they usually have a centralize headquarter in their home country to monitoring and control numerous offices and factories

worldwide (Chen, 2019). They come to the host country and have a big investment, often called Foreign direct investment

(FDI). Vietnam is a developing country with high population density, so Vietnam is a promised land for MNC to expand

their brand, big companies such as IBM, Coca cola, Microsoft, Apple, Samsung and many more. In 2017, the amount of

FDI capital in Vietnam reached a peak at 36 billion USD

1.2. Project Management Plan

A project management plan which is set out bt project manager and project teams, it compose of multi procedure that

define how to planning, organizing, directing and controling a successful project. A successful projects management can be

difine in the following criteria: Completion in time, within cost, customers satisfaction (Sabyasachi, 2018)

Pearson Education 2016

Higher Education Qualifications

Depending on the characteristics of each project, the steps are different, but the 5 steps below are the 5 most common

and effective steps.

 Initiation phase

Defining a project, need to determine the feasibility of the project, and the team will need to submit the project

to the stakeholder committee, they will help determine if this is a successful project or not (Pathak, 2018)

 Planning phase

In this phase, the team will set out goals and objective based on S.M.A.R.T goals, developing a complete

schedule the cost, resources, and analysis all the risk that can happen with the project (Pathak, 2018)

 Execution phase

This is a very important period to assess whether the project is successful or not, a lot of tasks will be done at

this stage, there should be reports with high precision and accuracy (Pathak, 2018)

 Monitoring and control phase

At this phase, is all about controlling and adjusting measure to keep the project on track, project managers will

normally use KPis to monitor the project (Pathak, 2018)

 Close the project phase

The team need to submit the final project, reward to the team (Pathak, 2018)

A perfect management plan will always bring satisfaction to customers, and with the right strategy of management, you and

your team can reduce risk may happen and kill your project, affirming your company in the markets

1.2.3 Cost management

 Definition:
Is a process that’s help the project manager to controlling and planning the budget. A complete cost management

should cover all the expense of the project to avoid risk of spending over the budget (, 2019)
 Steps of cost management plan:
 Resource planning: Breakdown all the work need to be done in the project, to estimate the cost of the

whole operation
 Cost estimating: identify all the cost of the resources
 Cost budgeting: Finalize and approve the budget
 Cost control
(Smartsheet, 2019) Project budget

The budget for this project is listed below and is divided into different categories:
 Personnel : 20.000.000 VND

1.3. Critical evaluation

When starting a project, there will always be 50/50 of success and failure, a good project will requires a detailed and specific

plan, but in the meantime, some elements can still effects badly to the whole project. Poor planning is a typical example, when the

project is lack of planning, the team cannot decide which tasks are need to do first and when to do, leads to deviations in the timetable.

Unrealistic goals, when starting a project, the high expectation to the project will lead to the goals to be not realistic and unachievable.

Budget planning is also a very important to estimate the cost of the whole project, when the team planning the cost estimated badly,

the team will not know what the expense for the whole project, which leads to stagnant in the progress.

There are tips that can prevent elements that can harms to the project:

 Proper planning in the beginning of the project, the plan need to be specific and detailed,

 Set a realistic and achievable goals for the team, it require consent of the whole team, stakeholders, customers. It

should based on S.M.A.R.T

 Create a specific cost management plan and plan for expenditures may arise during the project

2.0 Liturature review

2.1.1. Multinational companies
Multinational companies (MNC) are companies has facilities and assets invested in difference country (Host country), and

they usually have a centralize headquarter in their home country to monitoring and control numerous offices and factories

worldwide (Chen, 2019). Although many companies are in different fields, they all have a common goal of global expand

and profit growth. In the year of 1987, Vietnam’s National assembly passed the law for Foreign investment, allowed

investor to owned 100% of capital, is a historical decision open the way for Foreign companies to invested in Vietnam

(, 2019). Since then, numerous of foreign companies has invested in Vietnam, Takubo is an textile

company and they open a subsidaries in Vietnam in 2001, their headquarter is in Japna. CocaCola has been in Vietnam

since 1996, in banking sector has Mitsubishi, ANZ, etc.

Foreign direct investment (FDI), is often know as invested directly into subsidaries in other country (host country).

Including money, technology and skills (Economy, 2019). Since the law has been passed, Vietnam’s economy has been

booming, in 2016, registed FDI capital inflow has reach 27 billion USD and actual FDI investment reach 15.8 billion USD.

In 2017, more than 25 billion USD has been direct invested in Vietnam. The numbers proves that Vietnam is an ideal

destination for investors (Van Pham, 2017)

2.1.3. The impact of MMC
With the resources that MNC invested, apperently the host country will have many impacts on the economy and other

factors. Foreign companies comes to the host country will open up huge opportunities for employment, creating jobs,

lowering the unemployrate. Host country will be experiencing the advance tech and equipment are brought by MNC. In

general, FDI brings for State budget a lot a capital. But, some companies tend to exploited the resources for the

production process, that can damage the enviroment. For example, International textile company Toms release waste

water into the Khe Che lake. So far, Vinatex International Toms Textile Co., Ltd. has not yet had a discharge license as

prescribed by law
3.1. Quantitative and qualitative research
This project will be conducting quantitative and qualitative research strategies, when collecting data, both of the strategies will

help highlighting and thoroughly analyze the impacts of textile companies on Vietnam

3.2. Questionnare
Questionnare will be the primary method to collect data. A list of question related to the project will be in a survey and will

be send to specific companies. The benefits of this method will be money saving, but time will not be added in the

advantages. Since the survey is hard to reach to the stakeholders, and when interviewees facing hard question, they usually

left it blank.

3.3. Sampling
Is a process of choosing a particular group to investigate (called sample), they will reflect the characteristics of the

whole population (Kenton, 2018). The purpose of sampling is to reduce the amount of time that may spent on

investigating the whole population, it will also reduce the cost of research.

Random sampling is the most suitable method for this project, since is the easiest yet still effective for investigate a

large population like textile multinational companies in Vietnam, cost saving and reduce time. This method will ensure

the fairness, equality among companies. But random sampling will still have some drawback,
