Force

Find the force of an object with mass(m) as 600 kg and acceleration as 50 m/s 2?

Given:

m= 600 kg

a= 50m/s2

Solution:

F=ma

F=(600)(50)

F= 30000 N

Work

A train covers a distance of 15 km and that the force is causing it to accelerate at a rate of 0.7
m/s2 .Calculate the work done?

Given:

f= 15 km

d= 0.7 m/s2

Solution:

W= f x d

W= (15km)(0.7m/s2)

W= 10.5 J
Power

Find the power of the man who pushes the box 8m with a force of 15N in a 6seconds.

Given:

f= 15N

d= 8m

t= 6s

Solutions:

W= f x d

W= (15N)(8m)

W=120J

p= w/t

p= 120J/6s

p= 20 wat

Energy
A bike accelerates uniformly from rest to a speed of 7.10 m/s over a distance of 35.4 m.
Determine the acceleration of the bike.

Given:

vi = 0 m/s

vf = 7.10 m/s

d = 35.4 m

Solution:

vf2 = vi2 + 2ad

(7.10 m/s)2 = (0 m/s)2 + 2(35.4 m)

50.4 m2/s2 = (0 m/s)2+ (70.8 m)

(50.4 m2/s2)/(70.8 m) = a

a = 0.712 m/s2

Momentum

A 50-kilogram object is moving at a speed of 10 meters per second. What is its momentum?

Given:

m= 50kg

v= 10m/s

Solution:
p= mv

p= (50kg)[10m/s]

p= 500 kgm/s

p= 500 kgm/s2

s= 500Ns

Impulse

A 0.5 kg ball free fall from a height of h1 = 7.2 meters and reflected a height of h2 = 3.2 meters.
Acceleration due to gravity = 10 m/s2. Determine impulse.

Given:

m= 0.5 kg

d1= 7.2 meter

d2= 3.2 meter

g= 10 m/s2

Solution:

v2 = 2 g x h

vo2 = 2(10)(7.2) = 144

vo = 2(10)(7.2) = 12 m/s

vt2 = vo2 + 2 g x h

0 = vo2 + 2 (-10)(3.2)

vo2 = 64

vo = √64 = 8 m/s
Collision

A 10-gram bullet fired at 100 m s-1 , collide a block of wood at rest. Mass of block is 490 gram.
The collision is inelastic. What is the speed of the block and bullet after collision.

Given:

m= 10 gram

v1= 100 m/s

m2= 490 gram

v2= 0 m/

Solution:

m1 v1 + m2 v2 = (m1 + m2) v’

(10)(100) + (490)(0) = (10 + 490) v’

1000 + 0 = 500 v’

1000 =500 v’

v’ = 1000 / 500

v’ = 2 m/s
