INTRODUCTION

A newspaper is a publication printed on a paper and issued regularly, usually once a

day or once a week. It gives information and opinions about current event and news.

Usually people like to read them to stay informed about their local city, state or country.

Newspaper can be delivered to one’s home, by a subscription. One also can buy a

newspaper at a store or at a newsstand.

Newspaper usually has many topics. They usually include political events, crime,

business, sports, and opinions. Many also include weather news. Newspaper use

photographs to illustrate stories and also often include comics and other entertainment,

such as crosswords and horoscopes. Many have opinion section. These sections print

the opinions of people who work for the newspaper. These opinions which are usually

on stories in the newspaper. The opinions sections usually also print short letters from

people who read the newspaper.

Newspaper is certainly the oldest and is still the largest of the largest of the major

advertising mediums, as the primary medium for “National” advertising by television I’ts

local orientation has made it well suited to retailers. Newspaper enable merchants to

reach a wide cross-section of the people, by concentrating their coverage in the local

market.
HISTORY

The first real newspaper in England was printed in 1665. The first successful daily

newspaper in Britain was printed in 1702. The first American newspaper was printed in

1690 it was called Public Occurrences Both Foreign and Domestic.

Newspaper became far more common in the late 19th century. In the 18th century and

the early19th century stamp duty was charged on newspaper, which made them

expensive. However in 1855 stamp duty on newspaper was abolished and they became

cheaper and more common. In the mid-19th century newspaper reporters began to use

the telegraph as a means to get their newspaper quickly. Then in 1880 the New York

Graphic became the first newspaper to print a photo.


ADVANTAGES OF NEWSPAPER

Newspaper is read by huge number of population, so news or information can made be

made available easily. Newspaper is not very expensive so anyone can buy newspaper.

Reader can read news anytime whenever he wish and able to read information again

and again, nowadays newspaper is made available directly to your house by many

vendors, so no need to go and buy newspaper every day. Also newspaper is available

in various languages so you can choose the newspaper of your choice. Newspapers are

lighter in weight it is easy to carry anywhere you want. Almost all the latest news are

covered in the newspaper which gives information about the latest trend going in the

world, you can also increase vocabulary and general knowledge by reading newspaper

daily and regularly. Newspaper are ecofriendly and easy to recycle.


DISADVANTAGES OF NEWSPAPER

Some of the newspaper the advertisement space may be expensive. As the internet,

television or radio are used widely by many people, so advertisement compared to

Internet and other Medias. Newspaper can easily discard once read, so ess chance for

advertiser to convert the advertisement into leads or sale.

Competitors can easily see the price of your product and hence they quickly react to

your prices, sometimes in some newspaper the news which are shown are false the

news are even twisted and distorted sometimes poor printed images quality is seen in

the Newspaper.
