Memoirs/Self-Evaluation

Lets just say that I’m happy that I was able to complete this class. For starters, one of the
best things that’ll come from the completion of this class is the end to my constant migraines.
However, on the positive side of it, I’m glad I got to spend one last class with my best friends
along with one of my favorite teachers. It’s a bittersweet ending to my highschool career, but at
least I can sleep peacefully knowing I will never have to unnecessarily stress over something like
this again.
Now for what I learned from my senior project, firstly, I’ve learned how to deal with
copious amounts of stress. The constant papers, preparation speeches, and senior draft boards
have really taken a toll on my brainstem, specifically, my trigeminal nerve. Secondly, I’ve
learned how to use the incredibly useful site, Weebly.com- or wait… is it called E-Folio?
Nobody knows for certain. Lastly, I’ve learned the basic techniques to remodel a house, which
has probably been the only useful or interesting take from this whole project. The only problem I
encountered during this project was the class itself. Everything else was quite frankly, smooth
sailing. I’ve handled this problem by completing this class, fortunately.
The time I felt most stretched was when I was initially turned down for my first project
proposal last year, on the topic of bodybuilding. I was told I knew too much about the subject.
Because why would students do a project on something they are most passionate about? Doesn’t
make sense to me. I eventually had to find a new subject to do my project on, which was quite a
scramble, but it all worked out in the end.
The Senior Seminar project has changed me in a lot of ways. It has allowed me to
experience adulthood more, it has refined my time-management skills, and it has helped me
achieve skills I will use later in life. I have also felt more confident about this topic in particular.
If I had to do the whole project over again from scratch, I would probably pick a topic that is
more interesting to me. While home renovation has been an incredibly resourceful and
enlightening project, I wish I had the ability to choose a topic that was more interesting to me.
My advice to next year’s seniors would be to prepare themselves accordingly, don’t take
shortcuts, and don’t think senior year will be a walk in the park. Senioritis is a real thing and it is
easy to lose sight of things. It is incredibly hard to stay motivated and focused during your senior
year, but if I could do it, I’m sure they can do it as well.
I don’t know if this project has influenced my future at the moment, because I truly don’t
know what my future holds. But what this project has taught me that some things in life are
tough, grueling, and even seemingly unfair. But you have to work through it, keep pushing
yourself, and see through it till the end. If I could give myself a grade for this project, I would
personally give myself an A. I feel like I have put and incredible amount of effort into this
project, dedicated the majority of my time to keeping a good mark, and diligently prepared
myself for graduation.
Farewell & Best Regards,
Spencer Jennings.
