3 September 2007
Dear Sir
I refer to my telephone conversation to your office in June 2007 wherein I was advised to
that the Committee didn’t sit until September 2007 and to forward my complaints and
concerns then.
I wish to lodge a complaint and seek your assistance in relation to the handling of my
family’s matters by the Ombudsman.
In the year 2003 I wrote to you seeking your assistance as the Ombudsman refused to
provide my family with explanations for issues that we had raised in our review request
in relation to allegations of bias, victimization and misconduct against employees of the
Department of Education aimed at children and for which we had an alarming amount of
evidence to support, instead saying the matter was closed.
At that time you advised that under the Ombudsman’s Act you were prohibited from
asking questions about “particular conduct” and that you couldn’t assist.
Once again we sent the information to the Ombudsman who have once again refused to
act on the matter, despite the fact that the matter is a child protection issue.
We again requested a review of the decision not to investigate the matter and on the 3
May 2007 Mr. Bruce Barbour, the same person who had reviewed the matter before and
about whom we had raised concerns, conducted the review of the decision not to
investigate the matters again.
We believe that having Mr. Barbour review our matter twice my family is being denied
procedural fairness and natural justice and we have been denied and impartial and
unbiased decision.
We believe that our family’s complaints and allegations are being covered up and we
seek an independent review and inquiry into the matter.
Yours sincerely
