The R 245 is our configurable thermoforming packaging machine of the mid-range. It
offers a comprehensive spectrum of equipment options, allowing complex pack forms
to be produced with the R 245 with high cycle output.

Film transport, register mark control
The proven film transport system ensures particularly reliable film guide and a precise advance.
Equipment options enable perfect adaptation to the packaging materials and the product to be
packaged. The film unwinds feature a 3" film holding mandrel as standard, and an optional 6"
adapter is available.
MULTIVAC register mark controls ensure reliable detection of register marks. The teaching of the
register mark is performed directly at the sensor. The positioning of the print image is carried out at
the HMI.

Lifting units
MULTIVAC lifting units are particularly high quality and durable systems. A rapid and precise lifting
movement allows them to contribute to high output. The high closing force of MULTIVAC lifting
units are the basis for maximum sealing pressure and perfect seal seams.
With electric spindle lifting units, the closing movement is generated by an electrically driven
spindle. The electric drive features a high degree of precision and energy efficiency as well as low
noise.

Loading
The pack cavities can be loaded manually or automatically. For manual loading, insertion aids that
make this process easier and more efficient are available.
For automated loading, MULTIVAC offers a variety of handling modules, which can be equipped
with 2- to 4-axis robots. Through the combination with vision systems, it is even possible to reliably
process non-oriented and non-uniform packaged goods.

Evacuation
MULTIVAC evacuation technologies ensure efficient and reliable removal of the existing atmo-
sphere from the pack and pack contents. Various die designs and hole punching devices enable
processing of a wide spectrum of packaging material. A variety of evacuation devices enable
packaging of packaged goods with chunky, liquid and powdery consistency as well as in different
temperature ranges.

Sealing
MULTIVAC sealing technology ensures high-quality and long-lasting sealing of heat-sealable
packaging materials. A particularly high sealing pressure and precise temperature control are the
basis for reproducible seal quality. Through various sealing systems, MULTIVAC thermoforming
packaging machines can be perfectly equipped for the respective application. The available design

Cross cutting, longitudinal cutting
MULTIVAC cutting systems are equipped with high-quality knives and punches that we also
manufacture ourselves. In this way they achieve perfect cutting results and have a long service life.

Contour cutting
MULTIVAC contour cuts separate packs from the film with a working cut. In this way, the use of
separate longitudinal and cross cutters is omitted.
Like all cutting systems from MULTIVAC, the contour cutters for flexible film and rigid film feature
perfect cutting results and a long service life.

Discharging packs
For the discharge of packs, MULTIVAC offers different solutions with which the pack stream can
be passed to subsequent processes on a single-track or multi-track basis. While the roller conveyor
and belt solutions are usually a modular component of a thermoforming packaging machine,
MULTIVAC conveyor systems are incorporated into the process as an integrated solution or
standalone system.
The MULTIVAC conveyor systems MBS are equipped with additional functions such as metal
inspection, marking, and pack ejection.

Removal of packaging material residues
The MULTIVAC systems for removal of edge trim, centre trim and punching residues feature safe,
continuous operation, high collection capacity and easy removal of packaging material residues.
MULTIVAC suction devices can be used for removal of edge trim, centre trim and punching waste;

Monitoring
For continuous monitoring of packaging materials, packs and machine parameters, MULTIVAC
thermoforming packaging machines are equipped with a variety of sensor devices. In the machine
control, the triggering behavior can be defined for each monitoring device, ranging from output of a

With its Rollboy and Jumbo Roll Trolley, MULTIVAC offers transport units for the simple and secure
