Standing Broad Jump

The Standing long jump, also called the Broad Jump, is a common and easy to administer test of
explosive leg power.

 Purpose: to measure the explosive power of the legs


 Equipment required: tape measure to measure distance jumped, non-slip floor for take-off,
and soft landing area preferred. Commercial Long Jump Landing Mats are also available.
 Procedure: The athlete stands behind a line marked on the ground with feet slightly apart. A
two-foot take-off and landing is used, with swinging of the arms and bending of the knees to
provide forward drive. The subject attempts to jump as far as possible, landing on both feet
without falling backwards. Three attempts are allowed. See some long jump video examples.
 Scoring: The measurement is taken from take-off line to the nearest point of contact on the
landing (back of the heels). Record the longest distance jumped, the best of three attempts.

We held a meeting to discuss and sort the class members to different task and bureau. We got the
task to handle a fitness components test for the event that were held at the school.

We made a preparation by looking and searching a norm and procedures how to do the standing broad
jump test. We discussed and learn together the norm and understand the procedure before we went
to the school.

Another preparation that we do was we ask a permission from the faculty to borrowed the mat for
the standing broad jump and we practice our best to show it to the students the right ways how to
perform the test.

On the day of the event, the first activities we do was aerobic dance and then proceeded to the bleep
test. After that we moved to the fitness test. We prepared our station by lay down the mat and discuss
how to perform the test.

The students were divided into several group and take turns to make each fitness test. Every group
that come to us, we will have explained and show them how to perform the test. After all the
explanation, each student need tried the test.

When the students performed the test of standing broad jump, the results will be collected and it will
be written down on their form. So they can know their results and can improve it for the future.

We also showed them a tips on how to improve their results, so they can practice and get a better
result in future.

In conclusion, the students show a good response while doing the test and most of them show a good
result in the test. This test help student to test their power and they can know the level of their power.
