Rules of Word-o-poly

1. Students are equally divided into five groups.

2. The duration of the game is twenty minutes.
3. Each group sends a representative to roll the dice to decide their turn in the
game. The group which gets the biggest number is the first group to start the
game following by the other groups with smaller number.
4. Teacher is the banker in this game who distributes stars to the groups.
5. The group which is in turn rolls the dice to decide the number of moves. The
number shown on the dice represents the number of moves on the word-o-poly
mat. If the number shown on the dice is ‘6’, the group is given a bonus chance
to roll the dice. The group gets extra moves according to the number shown on
the dice after the second roll.
(Eg: 1st roll: 6, 2nd roll: 4, total number of moves: 6 +4=10)
6. The group which is in turn gets a chance to choose a question card. There are
three boxes of question cards prepared according to the level of difficulty. If
the group is able to answer the question correctly, stars are awarded based on
the level of difficulty.
(Easy: 1 star; Intermediate: 2 stars; Difficult: 3 stars)
7. If the group fails to give the answer correctly, the question can be answered by
the other group. Stars are awarded to the group which answer the question
correctly based on the level of difficulty.
8. If the group lands on ‘Start’, the group is awarded with a star.
9. If the group lands on ‘Chance’, the group gets to choose a chance card. A
reward or a punishment is given according to the chosen chance card.
10. If the group lands on ‘Income Tax’, the group has to pay a star and skip their
chance to choose and answer a question.
11. If the group lands on ‘Jail’, the group is required to pay a star to the banker.
However, the group can avoid the payment if the group owns a chance card to
leave the jail.
12. If the group lands on ‘Water Works’, the other groups have to pay one star to
the particular group respectively.
13. If the group lands on ‘Electric Company’, the group is given an opportunity
to double the number of star that they have by answering a difficult question
correctly given by the banker. If the group fails to get the correct answer, the
number of star is remained the same.
14. If the group lands on ‘Reading Railroad’, the group is given a chance to win
or lose a star by answering a simple question given by the banker. A star is
awarded if the group gets the correct answer; a star is deducted if the group
fails to get the answer correctly.
15. If the group lands on ‘Luxury Tax’, the group has to pay three stars to the
banker.
16. Stars awarded to each group are shown on the scoreboard after each round.
17. The stars collected by each group are counted at the end of the game.
18. The group which collects the highest number of star is the winner of the game.
