Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic
Laboratory
• Only state agency dedicated to providing
veterinary diagnostic services in Texas
• Backbone of animal and emerging/zoonotic
disease surveillance program
• Mission:
Provide veterinary medical diagnostic services to reduce the incidence of animal
disease;
Contribute to an animal and zoonotic disease surveillance system and provide
early detection and response for high consequence, emerging and/or zoonotic
diseases;
Provide diagnostic tests to aid in commerce (interstate & international trade);
Contribute to the benefits of healthy animal/human interactions.
