ACTIVITY DESIGN FOR NUTRITION MONTH 2017

I. Background and Rationale


July is the month of nutrition. The National Nutrition Council (NNC) will lead the whole
nation in the celebration of 2017 Nutrition Month with the theme, “Healthy Diet Gawing
Habit for Life” to contribute to child’s development through integrated health, nutrition
and early education services.

In support of this developmental endeavor of the nutrition community, the


Department of Education issued DepEd Memorandum No. 105 s. 2017 which will highlight
the importance of the living a healthy lifestyle through healthy diet.

The Nutrition Month Celebration is one of the activities conducted for the school’s
Project Busog Lusog Kid and Bislig City Division’s Project HIMSUG.

II. Objectives:
The activity aims to:
1. promote the consumption of healthier foods and discourage the eating of
unhealthy foods;
2. encourage the families and individuals to eat a balanced diet with a variety of
food to the right quality and maintaining an ideal body weight to reduce
obesity and non-communicable diseases;
3. create awareness among learners on making the right choices of food; and
4. promote health and nutrition among the pupils; and
5. encourage food industry, producers, distributors and farmers to make
healthy foods available for all.

III. Description
This year’s Nutrition Month Celebration revolve around the theme, “Healthy Diet
gawing Habit for Life.” The activities to be conducted are geared towards promoting
health and nutrition through balanced diet.

IV. Methodology:
The following methods will be employed in the conduct of the activity:
1. Health-based activities
2. Competitions/contests

1. School Head -1
2. Teachers - 14
3. Pupils (from grades 1-6)
4. Parents
5. HRPTA and CPTA Officers
6. Barangay Council

VI. Venue:
The venue will be in San Fernando Central Elementary School.

VII. Date of Implementation:


This will be implemented on July 27, 2017 @ 8:00 in the morning.

IX. Implementation Arrangement:


- Activity design was submitted and signed by the school head and PSDS.
- Letter of invitation was given to the invited guests, resource speakers and
judges
- Information dissemination was done to inform and encourage the pupils and
the parents to join the different contests
- Conduct of the Nutrition Month Celebration 2017

COMPLETION REPORT ON THE 2017 NUTRITION MONTH CELEBRATION


 Title of Activity : 2017 Nutrition Month Celebration
 Objectives : The 2017 Nutrition Month Celebation aimed to:
a. Create awareness on the importance of proper infant and
child feeding practices;
b. Promote collaboration among stakeholders for health
programs and for families with pregnant women
c. Recognize model parents’ best practices in rearing their
child;
d. Promote health and nutrition among the pupils; and
e. Develop pupil’s intellectual and artistic aspects in
consonance to the theme.

 Actual Number of Participants : 100 participants including pupils, teachers, parents and
guests
