DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL FOR TEACHERS FM 97.

1. TEACHERS FM WEBSITE
The Teachers FM website is a mini-website with a direct link from the college�s
website. The website is aimed at providing links to the social media platforms of
the station. More important is the fact that the website will enhance the coverage
area of the station through the provision of Internet radio services such that the
station�s programmes can be accessed from anywhere in the world. The website will
also serve as an information provider on the services the station provides and the
synopsis of daily programmes.

2. SOCIAL MEDIA HANDLES/PLATFORMS


The creation of social media handles such as twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp and
Instagram channels for the station is to further increase the communication between
the station and her audience. These handles will also serve as an alternative means
of communication in live programmes and pre-programmes discussion.

Some of the stations presenter handling specific programmes will also have special
social media handles for their programmes.
3. INCREASING THE NUMBER OF AUDIENCE THROUGH AWARENESS CREATION
It can be correctly assumed that many of the members of the college community such
as students, lecturers, non-academic staffs and others are not aware of the
existence of Teachers FM in the college or how they can benefit from the services
rendered by the station. Awareness should be created by organizing campaigns to
notify the college community and Zaria at large on the existence of Teachers FM and
what the station stands for.
This awareness/campaign can be done through the creation of souvenirs such as
branded t-shirts, caps, mufflers, stickers of different sizes, billboards,
wristbands and others.
4. MARKETING AND ADVERTISEMENT
The station is working on the establishment of a marketing department. The
marketing department will be responsible for generation of income for the station
through the continuous search for customers. Our customers are everyone involved in
the Education business ranging from schools, bookshops, resource centers,
educational consultants, computer training centers and others. The other services
rendered by the college but unknown to the members of the college community will
also be publicized through this medium. Schools like basic Schools, Awesons,
Madalla and others can also advertise their services and outstanding qualities.
5. ACADEMIC RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
This section of the radio will manage the issues related to academic research and
development. The station will continuously create podcasts and vodcasts on general
and specific areas of education which students can listen to. The podcasts and
vodcasts content are summaries and expositions on courses offered by the pre-
service teachers. Courses such as Education (Microteaching, Educational technology,
Methods of teaching/instructional strategies, curriculum studies, educational
measurement and evaluation, sociology of education, and general studies) will be
aired at specific times specially to assist students in preparing for examinations.
The research arm will also be responsible for conducting research on general issues
such as gender equality, teachers� quality, digital divide and others and drawing
attention of stakeholders to the problems and their implications of not solved.
Social development issues will also be addressed.

6. STUDENTS PARTICIPATION
The station will conduct an open auditioning to involve students in the running of
the station. This will be done through a general call for audition and students
will be selected purposively based on the skills they possess. The students will be
trained after being selected in field reporting, interviews, technical management
of the studio, photography, news gathering and other media related activities. This
will be a free service but those involved in the marketing will be rewarded through
commission based on certain pre-defined percentage.
