The document discusses the acceptability of using the Carrier Hourly Analysis Program (HAP) for generating energy predictions for Leadership in Energy Efficient Design (LEED) submissions. It states that as of September 2002, the U.S. Green Building Council determined HAP is acceptable for use in LEED projects. This is because HAP complies with ASHRAE Standard 90.1-1999 simulation software requirements for the Energy Cost Budget compliance path. However, it notes that the U.S. Green Building Council does not officially sanction or certify any software programs.

HAP Status Regarding LEED Submissions
Date: October 21, 2003 Versions: HAP v4.20 thru v4.22 FAQ: Can HAP be used to generate energy predictions used in Leadership in Energy Efficient Design (LEED) submissions to the U.S. Green Building Council? Answer: Yes. As of September 2002 the U.S. Green Building Council has determined that the Carrier Hourly Analysis Program (HAP) is acceptable for use in LEEDs projects. This acceptance is based on the fact that HAP complies with simulation software requirements set forth in ASHRAE Standard 90.1-1999 for software used in the Energy Cost Budget (ECB) compliance path. See the article titled “Compliance with ASHRAE Standard 90.1 Software Requirements for the ECB Method” for details. The article is found in the HAP42_Standard_90_1.pdf document. Disclaimer: The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) does not officially sanction or certify software programs. The USGBC only determines the acceptability of data for LEED project submissions. Therefore USGBC’s determination of acceptablility of HAP data for LEED submissions in no way implies USGBC sanction or certification of the Carrier HAP program.
