Lawmakers yesterday assured the
family of the late Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Renato Corona of their support in their bid to have retirement benefits be granted him following his controversy-ridden impeachment in the previous administration. Outgoing Navotas Rep. Tobias Tiangco backed retired SC Associatb Justice Arturo Brion s call for the incoming 18th Cong'ress to correct the iqiustice alleg- edly committed against the impeached chiefjustice. \ ' On the other hand, incoming Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Rufus Rodriguez vowed to file the bill that would return to Corona's family the retirement pay and other ben- efrts that they deserve. "I will file a bill granting CJ Corona's heirs retirement and other benefits,,' he said. Misarnis Oriental Rep..Henry Oaminal said: "The issue is wodh looking to.; it will be addressed in the 18th C-ongress." Quezon City Rep. Winston Castelo said he will also lobby for the approval of a bi.tt that will honor the memory of Corona.
