Single Massive Limestone Bed
Geologically the study area exposes litho units belongs
to Narji limestone formation of Kurnool Group of rocks.
Viz (a) Lower dark grey to greyish white coloured
massive limestone and (b) Upper brown to brownish
grey colored shaly limestone equivalent to flaggy
limestone alternating with olive green to pista green
 colored siliceous massive limestone. The regional strike
of the limestone beds are NNE-SSW with a general dip of
100 towards ESE. Only outcrops of dark grey to greyish
white coloured massive limestone is exposed in the
northern and NW portion of investigation block.
Total Thickness Thickness of the Limestone ranges from 2m to 38m

6 Accessibility
The nearest rail head is Piduguralla on Guntur-
Nearest Rail Head Secunderabad Railway line located at 19 kms from
Tadutla.
The area is located west of Govindapuram and east of
Bheemavaram village. The villages are well connected by
road. The area can be approached from Piduguralla by
Road
all weathered metalled road up to Govindapuram.
Piduguralla is the nearest town located on the
Hyderabad-Chennai NH-5.
Gannavaram (Vijayawada) Airport is located at a

distance of 145km East of Block.
7 Hydrography
A small tributary of Krishna River namely Ganneru vagu

is flowing through the area from West to East in the
Pattern (Channels)
Tadutla block.
Rivers/Streams The area is located South of Krishna river.
8 Climate
The Annual average rainfall in the area is around
500mm. Winter season is from December to February.
Mean Annual Rainfall January is usually the coldest part of the year. During
winter season, the temperature varies from 20 0 C to 25
0
C in the day and drops down to 15 0 C in the night.
The climate of the area is hot with semi-arid conditions.
Summer season in the area is from march and lasts till
end of June. During this time day temperatures are high

area experiences maximum rainfall during period from
June to September under the influence of SW monsoon.

The studied area is a plain country with gentle
undulations. The highest elevation is 78m and the
