Letting children play outside makes them more creative.

A. Introduction
Chang:
Good morning.
First of all, I have to say that, I feel very delighted that I have a chance
to be here and have a presentation with you today.
Ok so before we start, let me introduce myself first. My name is Le
Trang, and my partner is Thao Vy.
And our presentation of us today will be about “Let's children play
outside”.
Vi:
Our presentation is divided into 2 parts:

- The first one, we will talk about “Why aren't children playing
outside anymore?”
- And then, the second one, we will move on to Playing outdoors is
good for kids.
OK, so it’s going to take about … minutes in our presentation.
And, I would be glad to answer any question at the end of presentation.
Let’s get started.
B. BODY
I- Why aren't children playing outside anymore? (Vi)
- As you all know, Technology is more popular today. Therefore,
Children are attracted with new entertainment mediums, from more
established tech like TV and film to cutting edge games, social media
and mobile phones.
- In addition, nowadays some parents are always busy with work so they
cannot spend time with their children. And they are always worried
about controlling their kids. So they implicitly accept letting their kids
spend whole day watching TV or YouTube instead of keeping an eye on
them.
- And we can see the kids express a clear preference for sitting on a
couch in front of a screen over playing outside. On average, a child is
said to spend 4 to 7 minutes a day in play outdoors, and over 7 hours a
day in front of a screen.
- This is not to say there are no benefits to playing inside. Indoor
activities can seem easier and safer for children because they do not face
the dangers of nature.
- However, this risk averse culture is actually harming kids rather than
protecting them as it is contributing to them having a far more coddled
childhood, leading to a lack of independence later in life.
-SO, we must balance children's activities so that they are developed in
the best way.
Now, we are together moving on to the next part.
II- PLAYING OUTDOORS IS GOOD FOR KIDS (chang)
I’d like to move on to the next point, “Children should play outdoors”.
There are many studies show that real benefits to outdoor play that
children could be missing out on. It’s not just fresh air and pretty
scenery, It’s real physical and mental benefits to spending time outside.
There are a few things we do know about why nature is good for kids:
- Firstly, It builds confidence and helps them to control their actions.
- Second, (It promotes creativity and imagination.) They can think more
freely, design their own activities, and approach the world in creative
ways.
- And then, the real experiences from the outside world will teach
children to be more responsible.
It has more than benefit to keep children play outside. But then, how to
get kids excited about playing outdoors?
A specific example, I learned from a father's personal sharing on the
Reddit forum, he applied the "treasure hunts" game to his son. First of
all, he made some list of simple suggestions. After that, he hid those
suggestions around the house and some nearby. And then, His son was
very interested in finding treasure every day, even he invited for more
neighbors children to go find the answer.
Obviously, although busy with work but the father still could make his
son play with other kids in the outdoors.
All in all, It is a good thing we should apply to children.
This brings me to the end of my presentation today.
Summary (chang)
At this stage, I would like to run through the main points.
- The first section about The reason why children spend less time
playing outside. (The electronic device is the main reason that children
afraid of contact with the outside world)
- And the second section about Playing outdoors is good for kids.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I want to say that Outdoor play is a big part of healthy
growth, learning, development and wellbeing for your child. Try to get
outside with your kids—not only will it show them how important
spending time in nature is, but you might find you enjoy it just as much
as they do.
