Introduction 1
Operating Requirements 4
Centralise ID : 5.125"
Disassembly Instructions
- Remove Grub Screw (Item 16) from Locking Sleeve (Item 08) and back-off Locking Sleeve.
- Remove Locking Segment (Item 09) from slot in Main Body (Item 04) and unscrew Top Sub (Item
01) anti-clockwise along with integral tool string connector.
- The Bottom Sub (Item 07) and Tool String Connector (Item 02) can be removed from the Lower
Body (Item 05) at the same time, having previously removed Roll Pin (Item -3). Once removed from
the Lower body, the Bottom Sub and tool string connector can be separated from each other.
- Grub Screws (Item 15) are removed from Locking Ring (Item 14) in order to allow Pivot Pins
(Item 13) to be backed off anti-clockwise and removed to free the lever Arms (Item 17) from the
Lower Body. This procedure is repeated for each of the 3 arms.
- Once all arms are free, the Locking Ring can now be freed from the Lower Body.
- Grub Screw (Item 16) is removed from the Main Body in order to allow the Lower Body along
with, the Disc Springs (Item 06) the Spring Rod (Item 12) the Pusher Plate (Item 10) and the
Sliding Rods (Item 11) to be unscrewed from the Main Body.
- Once the Spring Stack and spring Rod have been removed the Pusher Plate and Sliding Rods can
also be removed by pulling them from the Lower Body.
- The Sliding Rods are removed from the Pusher Plate by unscrewing anti-clockwise. However if
no damage is present they should be left undisturbed.
- The Locking Sleeve which is threaded to the Main Body can be fully unscrewed for cleaning and
inspection.
- All parts should be checked for damage, careful scrutiny being given to all threads and bearing
surfaces. Replace any damaged parts if necessary.
- The Pins for the rollers are welded in position and should not need replacement unless excessive
wear is evident. These should be returned to Petroline for repair.
General Instructions
Ensure all parts, especially Disc Springs are clean.
Apply copperslip to Disc Springs, bearing surfaces and all threads.
Assembly Instructions
- X-Over Sub (Item 02), Roll Pin (Item 03), Bottom Sub (Item 07) are made up to the Lower Body
(Item 05).
- Make-up Sliding Rod (Item 11) to the Pusher Plate (Item 10). Slide Locking Ring (Item 14) over
the Lower Body, slide the Pusher Plate / Rod assembly into the Lower Body & make-up the Lower
Body to the Main Body (Item 04). Install Grub Screw (Item 16).
- Locate the Bush (Item 18) into the pre assembled Roller Arm consisting of Arm (Item 19), Roller
Pin (Item 20), Roller Bush (Item 21) & Roller (Item 22), locate the Arm onto the Lower Body & pin
with Pivot Pin (Item 13) through the Locking Ring. Fix Pivot Pins in place with Grub Screw (Item
15).
- Locate Spring Rod (Item 12) down through the Main Body into the Lower Body. Load the Disc
Springs (Item 06) {see operational notes} onto the Spring Rod.
- Slide the Locking Sleeve (Item 08) down over the Main body
make-up the Top Sub assembly to the Main Body. Note : see
operational notes on ‘Gap X’. Install Locking Segment (Item 09)
through the Main Body onto the Top Sub. Ensure teeth are fully
located.
- Make-up Locking Sleeve to the Top Sub and install Grub Screw
(Item 16).
Running/Retrieving Instructions
- The Centraliser is run immediately above the Plug to be centralised. No shearing of Pins or
the like is required within the Centraliser, therefore running/retrieving operations of the Plug
being centralised are not affected.
Operation of Tool
- Centraliser preload is adjusted to the required setting (REF: SPRING FORCE SETTING).
- Plug is run, with Centraliser above, into the desired tubing/casing string.
- Toolstring should now be lowered until the first restriction is approached, at which point care
should be taken upon entry into restriction. Downward jarring may be required in order to aid
Centraliser through the restriction. At any subsequent restrictions the above procedure should
be repeated.
- After locating the Plug in the correct nipple profile, it is set as normal.
- Retrieval of Centraliser and Plug Running Tool is carried out as normal except when passing
through any restrictions. Upward jarring may be required at this point.
- Although as said the spring configuration can be varied, one which is considered to be
optimum for the circumstances is used. In the case of the 3.3" - 5.125" the configuration
is:-
20 SETS OF DOUBLES & 23 SINGLES 63 SPRINGS.

OPERATIONAL NOTES
For the given configuration approximate lift forces (per arm) can be calculated. The lift force is
over and above centraliser selfweight.
- The gap can be adjusted whether or not the Centraliser is connected into the tool string. Firstly
remove Grub Screw (Item 16) and back off Locking Sleeve (Item 08). The Locking Segment
(Item 09) is now free to move over the machined grooves in the Top Sub (Item 01).
- The Top Sub is screwed in or out until the required gap "X" is achieved. The segment may sit
slightly above the internal diameter of the Locking Sleeve. To allow it to pass below, a further
small adjustment of the Top Sub will be required. Once flush, the Locking Sleeve can be
screwed back over the segment and shouldered against the Top Sub.
- The Grub Screw is replaced in the Locking Sleeve, and the Adjuster is now prevented from
backing off.
Note: Due to increased load, the Arm’s will not collapse through restrictions below 3.50"
ID. Therefore do not use tool with high load spring set up in applications with a
minimum ID less than 3.500"
