Assessment Task 2

Re-assessment
Students who are assessed as not yet competent will be provided with detailed verbal and
written feedback to assist them to identify the gaps in their knowledge and skills to be
addressed through further training. These students will be provided with additional training
and learning support to target their specific gaps in knowledge and/or skills and prepare
them for additional assessment.
It is the policy of Dolph Business School to provide three opportunities for additional training
and re-assessment at no additional cost to the student or employer.
Students requiring additional learning support are to be brought to the attention of Dolph
Business School’s management so that the progress of the student can be monitored closely
and additional support services can be applied. Where students repeatedly do not
demonstrate competence following significant learning and assessment support, a student’s
enrolment can be determined through mutual agreement.
Should students wish to appeal an assessment decision made for this assessment, the
student must make the appeal in writing and specify the particulars of the decision. This can
be done by completing our ‘Request to Appeal a Decision’ form, or by writing to us. Appeals
must be submitted to Dolph Business School within 20 working days of the student being
informed of the assessment decision.
You may refer to your Student Handbook for further information regarding Dolph Business
School’s Re-assessment policy, and our Appeals policy.

Assessment Task 2

Project
1. Prepare a presentation on a topic of your choice. You cannot use a topic outlined in
the activities of this unit. Your transcript should be suitable for a presentation that is
10-minutes in length. Utilise knowledge you have gained in this unit when writing your
presentation. Provide and / or document your presentation choice.
My presentation is about climate change; the first section discusses the ecological
impact and lists the changes in any ecosystem. The second section is about the role of
us human beings and what we can do in about our everyday life to help reduce climate
change.

2. Who is your target audience?

My target audience is the general public with post-secondary general knowledge.
3. Explain what approach you would take to your presentation and why.
I would take a multipurpose approach, because firstly the presentation is informative
about the consequences of climate change and on the second part besides informing,
the presentation attempts to persuade the audience about how human activities
changes can minimize climate change.

4. Identify the intended outcomes of your presentation and explain how you have
developed your presentation to meet these outcomes.
The intended outcome is to create awareness about climate change, the ecological
impact and where it produces changes; finally a call to action is made to persuade the
audience to modify some everyday human habits to help.

5. Identify the strategies you have used in your presentation and explain why you have
used them.
I have included questioning on slide 9, and discussion on slide 10, persuasion through
a call to action on slide 15.

6. Create one presentation aid and explain how you would use it to communicate the key
concepts and central idea in your presentation.
The presentation aid I have chosen to describe is the world temperature map on slide
2, I use it to communicate that temperature has been monitored globally and that
climate change is happening worldwide.

7. Explain how you would use effective communication skills, including any culturally
appropriate communication, when giving your presentation.
I would use verbal/nonverbal communication by emphasizing or stressing some points
mentioned about climate change while making appropriate gestures and eye contact. I
would describe with body language some of the effects of climate change while
pointing at pictures. Finally I would use persuasion using the example of the great
coral reef preservation effort that Australia has made as a call to action for all the
audience to think of the preservation of all the other natural wonders of Australia.

Assessment Task 2

8. Identify those parts of your presentation where you have provided summaries of key
concepts and ideas. Explain why you have placed summaries in the position you have.
On slide 7 I have provided a summary, I have placed it here as a reminder after slide 6
about range shifts, to help the audience remember the ecological impacts mentioned.

9. Schedule a time with your Assessor to perform the presentation for them. Gather
feedback from your Assessor about your presentation. How would you use their
feedback to improve your presentation?
I would try to fit the changes that are considered positive from an external
perspective and integrate them to the presentation while keeping the essence and
objectives of the topic.
