Primary Sources

After a two-and-a-half year lawsuit, Shannon Faulkner is the first woman to become a cadet at

the Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. She quits a week later. The Supreme

Court rules in 1996 that the Virginia Military Institute must open admissions to women.

source. This is the head infirmary nurse at the citadel responding to Faulkner being at the

citadel and getting sick. This states that the citadel cared for her for the 2 weeks that she

talk about her experience at The Citadel. It can give us a little more information from

Shannon herself about harassment towards her. We can also include some of the clip in

our documentary.
