REVISION

Advertisements these days are targeting children as their main consumers to purchase many
range of products, from light snacks to cuddly toys. The advertisement makers claim that they
provide useful knowledge for the kids. I personally argue the information that is conceived is
only about the details to gain the sales number and do not point on the side effects.

On the one hand, the commercials only show the good things about a product and they do not
show the harmful effects of consuming it. Clearly, children do not have the ability ruminate
about this, so they are easily influenced to buy the goods immediately. In short, this can give
impacts to kids’ health and parents’ financial as well. For instance, UHA, one popular Japanese
brand of candy is advertised delightfully with many colors and unreasonable price in many
countries, but the American Dental Association does not recommend this food item because of
its high sugar level contained in it that can put children in a risk for dental caries. What is the
result of this, then? If the misleading ads through televisions are massively broadcasted, then
there would be more kids being addicted to such products offered, and this results in them
getting clinical diseases.

On the other hand, the ad companies claim such products can give knowledge and benefits.
Additionally, they opine that toys are more than just fun and games for kids because most toys
provide at least some opportunity for children to learn. A good representation is play dough
which is produced by the manufacturers with colorful modeling compounds that can be used for
arts and craft projects. It is declared that the activity toys can be great for strengthening muscle
tone in little. Moreover, the company adds, it is a perfect medium for children to play creatively
and imaginatively. Television commercials educate the children about the new products in the
market thus they have more insights concerning the wide variety of inventions.

To sum up, with the benefits of ads in some circumstances, in most places, I am convinced that
ads mislead children. Not only the children do not have the requisite knowledge to think and
analyze which is good and which is bad, but they also can get mental stress to buy the articles.
To tackle this problem, the government should make regulation regarding to the ads before it is
directly shown in the media.
