Romeo and Juliet TDA Final

In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo makes certain decisions that make the plot more sophisticated. In the play of

Romeo and Juliet, there is a family feud between Romeo’s Family and Juliet’s Family. Then Romeo and Juliet

meet at a Masquerade Ball and they fall in love with each other. Shortly after the Masquerade Ball, they get

married. Later, Juliet drinks a vile that Friar Lawrence gives her to make her problems go away. The message

gets out that Juliet is dead. Romeo then drinks poison to be with Juliet because he thinks that she is dead. When

Juliet wakes up Romeo is dead so she stabs herself with his sword to be with him. In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo

makes decisions such as falling in love with Juliet and getting married to her, drinking poison to be with Juliet,

and killing Tybalt.

In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo falls in love with Juliet and gets married to her. According to Act 2, Scene 2,

“O, speak again bright angel! For thou art As glorious to this night, being o’er my head…” Here, Romeo is

experiencing love at first sight with Juliet. Romeo falling in love with Juliet then motivates him to marry Juliet.

These actions taken by Romeo complicate the plot because Romeo was supposed to marry Rosaline but he

married Juliet .

Secondly, Romeo drinks poison to be with Juliet. According to the text “Here’s to my love [drinks] O true

apothecary! The drugs are quick. Thus kiss I die. [falls].” Romeo drinking the potion is motivated by Juliet

drinking the potion that Friar Lawrence gave her. At the moment, Romeo thinks that Juliet is dead when she is

not. He drinks the poison so he could be with her. This then complicates the plot because when Juliet wakes up

Romeo would be dead so then Juliet would then stab herself so she could be with Romeo.

Finally, Romeo killed Tybalt. Tybalt is apart of Juliet’s family. According to Act 1, Scene 1 “Once

more, on pain of death, all men depart… The fiery Tybalt with his sword prepared; He swung about his head
and cut the winds.” Romeo is motivated to kill Tybalt because Romeo’s family and Tybalt (in Juliet’s family) is

in a fued. This makes the plot more sophisticated because Tybalt is apart of Juliet’s family and Romeo decides

to marry Juliet not Rosaline and Tybalt is apart of Juliet’s family.

In the play “Romeo and Juliet” Romeo makes certain decisions that complicate the plot. Romeo makes

the decision to marry Juliet because he experienced love at first sight which makes the plot more complicated

because he was supposed to marry Rosaline not Juliet. Romeo makes the decision to drink poison because he

think that Juliet is dead which causes Juliet to stab herself to be with Romeo. Finally, Romeo kills Tybalt

because they were in a family feud. This complicates the plot because he ends up marrying Juliet. In Romeo and

Juliet, Romeo makes decisions such as falling in love with Juliet and getting married to her, drinking poison to
