Nurse Anesthetist

When a patient is having a type of surgery and they feel very nervous for it, wouldn’t the

patient like someone that is going to make them feel very relaxed and take away all their pain

and provide them with the right type of medicine to help take that pain go away, and I know that

no doctor wants a patient to die on the table, everyone wants to wake up feeling good after their

surgery. Well that’s what nurse anesthetists are here to help the patient receive. A nurse

anesthetists is a reliable career path because it has above average pay, good benefits, and still a

learning process where the nurses will have to get certification renewal every 2-4 years.

In 2016 nurse anesthetist was ranked fourth on U.S. News World Reports for the top 100

jobs. It was more than likely ranked this well because of all the outstanding benefits it has. The

benefits for a nurse anesthetist include “drug coverage, dental, vision, life, accidental death, and

dismemberment, short term and long term disability insurances are provided to full time staff

says the American Association Of Nurse Anesthetists.” Also becoming a nurse anesthetists will

get you a 401(k) set up which is very needed when you are eligible to retire.

Having a job that consist of covering all of your medical problems and still has very good

pay is the way to go. According to the Bureau Of Labor Statistics, “the median national pay for a

nurse anesthetist is $158,900 with the top 10% earning more than $187,199.” Nurse anesthetist

sure do earn this money because they are under a lot of stress. During surgery there is a slight

chance that the patient could wake up if the medicine that they received is not correct or the

nurse anesthetist gave them too little or too much of it. Part of having such a big position is

having to handle the ramification of having such a top notch level of responsibility. There is a

chance that any family member could want to sue that nurse anesthetist if that happened to one

of their loved ones.

When a patient is about to have surgery the nurse anesthetists job is to give that patient

the right medicine and the right amount of medicine to put that patient to sleep during their

surgery. There could be a nurse anesthetists that is 50 years old and went to college 22 years ago

to become a nurse anesthetists. That was so long ago. Since then the pharmacist has created more

and better diagnosis for these people that are having surgery and the nurse anesthetists need to be

up to date on what to give the patient. So this is why if you still want to continue to be a nurse

anesthetist there is a program that happens during eight year periods and is lowered down to two

four year circuits. Once every two years nurse anesthetists will complete an online course well

known as the 2 year check in (CPC program). This is very important, because nurse anesthetists

can not be giving the patients what they think is correct but truly it is wrong and could end up

killing the patient.

To become the best nurse anesthetist, it is highly recommended that to have very good

communication with others, and are the best with interacting with the patients. Rachel Brown the

administrator of the program at the Middle Tennessee's school of anesthesia says that “we

provide ourselves on providing exceptional patient care by remaining with our patients

throughout their entire producere- before, during and after surgery.” These patients could be

dealing with the worst health issues right now and they need to see that their nurse anesthetist

truly does care about them. No matter what the patient is going through they are more than likely

scared for their producere and they will want the nurse anesthetist to be able to interact and cope

with them in the best way possible. Being able to alleviate to a patient's anxiety and to make

them feel very relaxed will just make the producere go a lot smoother and better not only for the

patient but for the doctors as well.

Like any other job there can be a lot of negatives in being a nurse anesthetists. Nurse

anesthetists have a really big role to play before and after someone’s surgery, but during the

surgery there is not much for the nurse anesthetists to do. The surgeries can go on for hours and

the only thing the nurse anesthetists is responsible for doing during the surgery is making sure

their patient is responding to the anesthesia correctly. Texas Wesleyan University reports that

many nurse anesthetists have said “it is difficult to sit through long and boring surgeries.” Also

when trying to become a nurse anesthetist it is very competitive. Once earning a Bachelor of

science in nursing the next step is to receive a license as a registered nurse. Then get at least one

year of action in a care setting like cardiac care unit, emergency room, etc. The next step is to get

into a nurse anesthesia program which is very hard to get into. Finally get accepted and graduate

from the nurse anesthesia program which commonly takes 24-36 months. “This is a very

competitive field. Not only are nurse anesthetists programs difficult to get into, but once you’ve

earned your degree, you will need to impress interviewers in order to get hired, ” Says the Texas

Wesleyan University. When becoming a nurse anesthetists it is not easy and on the job work may

be challenging as well.

In the end I feel as being a nurse anesthetists will be a reliable career path for me. It may

be challenging in the beginning, but the feeling that I will get that I worked so hard to

accomplish something that will help me throughout the rest of my life will be a feeling like no

other. Not only are the benefits above average, but the relationships that I will get to make with

the patients and the smiles that I will get to see on their faces because I made them feel

comfortable would be something that I would love to do for the rest of my life.
