**Superintendent Nina Marks has asked to remind parents that our Code of Conduct states under the heading-
“Requests to Ride a Different Bus or Use Another Bus Stop” the following: “Permission for a student to ride a
bus other than the one assigned, or to get off at a stop other than the one assigned, should be approved only in
case of an emergency by school personnel. Normally students are required to be discharged at the same stop
where they were picked up.”

Welcome Our New Staff Members


** Please join us in welcoming Ms. Millender who will be the new H/S math teacher, effective today. Ms.
Millender will be replacing Ms. Daniels, who requested & was granted a leave of absence for the
remainder of the school year.
**Also, welcome Mr. Mabrey, the new M/S science teacher, who joined the Seahawk family on Nov. 1st.
**In elementary, we welcome Ms. Gibson who has been added to our kindergarten teaching staff and
Ms. Vause to our 1st grade teaching staff.

**SENIORS: Today, Nov. 8, the Herff Jones representative will be in the lunchroom at the end of breakfast to
give you information on ordering caps, gowns, & graduation invitations. He will return on Nov. 16 to take
orders- by appointment only!
**ELEMENTARY STUDENTS: Elementary students are to report to the cafeteria immediately upon arrival
on campus, whether by school bus or private transportation. Students are not allowed in buildings 300,
400, 500, or 600 before 8:20am. The only exception is students assigned to Ms. Weyrich.
**FOOD DRIVE: The last day to bring in items is Wed, Nov. 10. Remember to bring in canned & non-
perishable items only. The class that collects the most items will win a pizza party!
The donations will be given to the Franklin County Food Pantry who will distribute the items
to needy Franklin County residents for Thanksgiving.
**STUDENT DRIVERS: If you have not registered your car for a campus parking permit, you
must do so immediately. Parents will be called & students’ parking privileges will be
revoked if a car is not registered.
**CASH OR MONEY ORDERS ONLY when purchasing SCHOOL SHIRTS –NO CHECKS!

**FCS STAFF / RETIREMENT: Did you know that the 403(b) Plan is a valuable retirement savings option available
through Franklin County Schools? Please come visit Shannon Venable (from our Finance Office) in the FCS
Library/Media room on Tues, Nov. 9, from 8:45am-4:00pm for details.
Learning Center, Pre-K, Transportation, & District Staff: Ms. Venable will be available at the District
Office on Wed, Nov. 10, from 8:00am-4:00pm for these employees.
Full-time employees will receive their personalized Annual Retirement Benefits Guide and
all other employees (new hire, part-time, seasonal, & subs) will receive the 403(b) plan brochure.

**STAFF: If you would like to get a FLU SHOT (which will be administered by the school nurse) please pick up a
form at Ms. Browning’s desk. Complete the form & return it to Ms. Browning. Your insurance WILL
NOT BE ACCEPTED! You will have to pay $25.00 for the shot. Deadline to turn in the form is Nov. 15th.
A date to give the shots will be set after forms are collected.

**RTI MEETINGS: Every Tuesday **PBS MEETINGS: Every 3rd Monday of each month
**FACULTY MEETINGS: Every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month

Miscellaneous
**Red Cross - Free Training Class: Fri, Nov. 12th from 1:00-5:00pm, the Red Cross will be offering a free
training class, “Coping in Today’s World”, to Franklin County residents. The class will be held at the
Franklin County Emergency Operating Center, 28 Airport Rd, Apalachicola. You must pre-register, call
850/878-6080.
**GED CLASSES on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays (except holidays) from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the
Franklin County Learning Center (the old Brown Elementary).
The next GED TEST will be given Nov. 29 & 30, at the Franklin County School library at 6:00pm.
