STANDARD IMAGE

A “Standard Image” provides a standard base line by which reproduction quality can be measured.
Canon U.S.A., Inc. Standard Test Image Post Script or PDF file described below when printed with
default settings via a Canon supported Rip, can be used as an end to end test of the printing process.
This file should be used as an additional tool for verifying quality after performing necessary
maintenance and adjustments to the Server or Print engine. This test file is not intended for the
propose of troubleshooting or performing adjustments.

1. Gradation Grey Blocks


Nine blocks of neutral grey CMY, from 100% to no Toner. Used to check Gradation
Reproduction and Overall Color Balance.

2. Density
Solid Color Blocks are used to Check Density of Solid Images and Color Accuracy. Each
block shows the colors used for reproduction.

3. Photo
These photographs indicates the overall image quality.
Color Reproducibility
Detail & Image Sharpness
Gradation Reproducibility

4. Half Tone Bands


Used to check Monochrome Density difference between Operator to Non-Operator side.

5. Fogging
The white background represents the white area of the original (no toner).

6. Text
Used to indicate text reproducibility. Text is Times New Roman at 15.5pt, 14.5pt, 13.5pt,
12.5pt, and 11.5pt. (Text is produced using Black only.)

7. Customer Information
Record test chart usage information in this area.

8. Canon Knock out


The box is process black with a clear knock out allowing for color displacement check.

9. Color Swatches
Colors used at different places in the document placed in a swatch format for easy color
measurement.
 Blue from the sky in the water photograph
 Orange from the Fruit Bowl
 Red from the Apple in the fruit Bowl
 Green from the field in Field photo
