I am writing to express my interest in the advertised ‘Geotechnical Seismic Specialist (Job# 30118)’ position at COWI.
I completed my PhD in geotechnical engineering from The University of Auckland in 2018. I am confident that my
5.5 years of research experience as graduate student (PhD and MTech) and 6 years of industry experience as
geotechnical design engineer, would allow me to perform the duties expected of me with expected quality,
determination, commitment and uncompromising work ethic.

I am a conscientious person who works hard and is eager to learn. For the past year I have been working with
AURECON, a leading multinational engineering consulting firm, based in their Wellington, office. I have more than
6 years of professional experience (NZ, Dubai and India) working on building structures, infrastructure projects, urban
developments, deep excavation, geotechnical seismic engineering problems, risk assessment, etc. Summary of
professional skills are outlined below
 Deep and shallow foundation analysis for buildings, silos, bridges, utility towers
 Retaining structures and slope stability analysis
 Numerical modelling – proficient in Plaxis 2D/3D, good understanding of soil models, meshing and
boundary conditions, soil-structure interaction problems.
 Seismic analysis of foundations, retaining walls, site specific response analysis using Deepsoil, Plaxis
dynamics.
 Ground improvement works for rail tracks, oil tanks, liquefiable ground, soft and expansive soils.
 Developing proposals and managing site investigation and writing geotechnical design reports.
 Developing technical specifications for geotechnical works such as piling, ground anchors and technical
advice to the contractors.
 Assessing geotechnical risks and undertaking high level desktop and geotechnical feasibility studies.
 Collaborative approach and excellent communication skills. Working with clients, structural engineers and
collaborating with other disciplines involved with the project.
 Experience with design for social innovation. Have done workshops to understand the client’s requirements
and developing innovative approach for preparing and winning bids.
