DISTRICT ASPIRATIONS:
VISION:
Creating a culture of excellence where students come first.

MISSION:
We commit all district resources to guide the learning of each
student, to graduate as confident learners with character,
knowledge, and the skills to excel in any endeavor they pursue.
Where We’ve Been:
Starting in 2016-17, we became intentional with our focus of student engagement and academic
growth in reading by becoming responsive to the data.

- Building leadership team worked with grade level teams to determine the true needs of each
student beyond the scores.
- Nearly 70% of our at-risk readers lacked focus and engagement that hindered their ability to
build critical reading behaviors.
- Staff collectively realized the need
for understanding of Social/Emotional
Learning alongside Academics
- Staff development work on Growth
Mindset to model for and teach
students.
Well-Being Goal:
All students will
demonstrate empathy and
build personal connections,
and as a result show a
decrease in the number of
students feeling that they
are not often treated well at
my school measured
through a student well-being
survey.

Reading Goal:
All students will be able to
read & comprehend grade
level text (or beyond), and
as a result show an
increase in number of
students proficient in both
FAST and Benchmarking by
May 2018. 431 students or
73% of K-5 students were
proficient Fall of 2017.
In 2017-18 we started...
- New Workshop Model (Lucy Calkins & Columbia University’s Teachers
College Reading and Writing Project)
- Professional Development on strategies for all adults instructing or
supporting instruction
