In this presentation I will:

● Give an overview of the IR

● Describe my research so far
● Give advantages of taking IR
 How Do I Fit into All This

● I became interested and applied for IR last year

● My research topic evolved throughout the year:

● First I started with the circadian clock and sleep as my general area of interest

● After significant reading, I was able to narrow the scope of my topic to sleep and circadian

rhythms in hospital patients

● Eventually, I found my research question: How can primary circadian clock factors be

used to improve the rhythmicity and overall health in hospital patients?

 The Problem and the Solution

● While reading numerous news articles, I found out that adequate

sleep is often a rare commodity in hospital patients

● The two main factors that the circadian clock responds to are

light and eating times. If these factors are influenced correctly

then the rhythmicity and overall health of the individual will

improve.
 An Overview of the Class
● IR is a project-based research class where a student researches a

specific topic of his/her choosing

● We use this research to write a research paper and create real-life

applications for our topic

● Ms. Sasser and other senior IR students will readily guide you

through this process

● In addition, you will have to find an advisor, who is a professional in

your field of study who will help you throughout your research
 Work Completed So Far

● I have visited many prestigious libraries as site visits

● Compiled a list of annotations

● Sent letters and received replies form organizations and

professionals

● Sent letters to possible advisors who might guide me on my

specific research path
