1.

Objective
The aim of the experiment is to measure the performance of a single stage compressor and
plot graphs to compare to those of the manufacturer.
2. Apparatus
Two Stage compressor unit.

3. Procedure
 The selector switch was moved to the “single stage run” position. The speed control was
adjusted to give the compressor speed of about 1200rpm.
 The tank was allowed to pressurize up to the desired pressure. The needle valve on the tank
was adjusted to keep the reservoir at that pressure.
 The system was allowed to run for few minutes in order for the temperature to stabilize. The
necessary readings were taken.
 Steps 3 and 4 were reapited for various reservoir pressures.
 Curves of : volumetric efficiency vs delivery pressure
: Free air delivery vs delivery pressure
: Power absorbed vs delivery pressure were plotted.

Discussion of results

Our experiment that we have done the aim of the experiment it is to measure the performance of
single stage compressor and plot graphs to compare to those the manufacturer the result we get we
use them to plot our graphs the first graph it show volumetric efficient vs delivery pressure on this
graph we found that volumetric efficient is directly proportional to delivery pressure. The second graph
show free air delivery vs pressure , the free air is constant while pressure delivery is increasing. The
graph shows power absorbed vs pressure delivery and they are directly proportional.

Conclusion

To conclude about the. The object or aim of the experiment was achieved. The graph that were
expected and performance of single stage compressor. The results that we have achieved might be
not give us an accurate results as actual results so the must be something that can be considered
and reduce human mistakes.
