Lecturer Thamer Yacoub, Ph.D., P.Eng., President of Rocscience


Dr. Thamer Yacoub, P.Eng. is the president of Rocscience. He has more than 25 years of experience in geomechanics numerical
modelling. Dr. Yacoub has a wide experience in several numerical modelling applications that cover various topics such as slope
stability analysis, settlement and foundation analysis, surface and underground stress analysis.
Dr. Yacoub received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Civil Engineering in 1986 and 1990 from the University of Baghdad in Iraq.
He then obtained his Ph.D. degree in numerical geomechanics from the University of Toronto, Canada in 1999. Thereafter Dr. Yacoub
joined Rocscience Inc. as a geomechanics specialist in 1999.
Dr. Yacoub was involved in developing the boundary element engine for Examine3D program and the finite element engine for RS2
software and Slide. He also has an extensive experience in fluid flow analysis and developed the groundwater engine for Slide and RS2
software.
Dr. Yacoub developed and taught many Rocscience workshops and seminars. He presented these courses and seminars North and
South America, the Middle East, Australia and Asia. He also taught several numerical modelling courses for graduate level students
around the world.

Lecturer Kemal Önder Çetin, Professor, Middle East Technical University Department of Civil Engineering
As part of his Ph.D. research studies, Prof. Çetin has researched on seismic soil liquefaction triggering response of fully saturated
cohesionless soils. The manuscript, which presents the proposed triggering relationship, received the “Thomas A. Middlebrooks
Outstanding Professional Accomplishment Award”offered by ASCE Geo-Institute in 2006. Currently, involved in research projects in the
area of experimental and theoretical soil mechanics and foundation engineering, Prof. Çetin has supervised numerous MSc. and Ph.D.
research studies. His research publications exceeding a total of 100 mansucripts and conference papers has received over 200
references. He continues to serve happily and enthusiastically the engineering community as a referee, lecturer, consultant, and
researcher.

Lecturer Anıl Yunatcı, Ph.D., GeoDestek Ltd. Şti.


Dr. Anıl Yunatcı is a senior geotechnical engineer at GeoDestek Ltd. Şti. He has built experience in the field of geotechnical earthquake
engineering, seismic hazard assessment, numerical modeling, geotechnical monitoring and soil investigation studies over 19 years.
Dr. Yunatcı received his Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering in 1999 from Gazi University in Turkey. He then obtained his Masters and
Ph.D.degree in geotechnical engineering from Middle East Technical University, Turkey in 2010. He has been in charge of organizing
and developing numerous customized Rocscience courses and workshop events nationwide over the past two years. Within
GeoDestek, he has been participating as a co-lecturer in Rocscience oriented numerical modeling courses since 2013.

Lecturer H. Tolga Bilge, Ph.D., MBA, GeoDestek Ltd. Şti.

Dr. H. Tolga Bilge is working as a senior geotechnical engineer at GeoDestek Ltd. Şti. He has more than 15 years of experience in the
field of geotechnical earthquake engineering, numerical modeling, design of geo-structures (including shallow / deep foundations,
deep excavation support, ground improvement and landslide rehabilitation systems), seismic hazard assessment and experimental soil
behavior.
Dr. Bilge received his Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering in 2002 from Middle East Technical University in Turkey. He then obtained
his his Masters and Ph.D. degree in geotechnical engineering from Middle East Technical University, Turkey in 2005 and 2010,
respectively.
Within GeoDestek, Dr. Bilge has been actively participating into RocScience courses and workshop events offered in Turkey since
2011, and enthusiastically shares his experience with geotechnical engineering community.
