Philosophy and Approach

I am passionate about every individual, relationship, and family’s resilience and their ability to change and
grow. My approach is rooted in Gestalt therapy with a critical lens in Anti-Oppression, and Intersectional
Feminism. I use awareness, authenticity, humor, and compassion, to support those who are: marginalized
by dominant cultural, coming to terms with painful experiences, changing patterned behaviors, clarifying
larger life goals, and developing the skills necessary to establish and maintain more satisfying
relationships.

Formal Education and Training

I obtained a Masters Degree in Counseling with a focus on relationship and family therapy from Portland
State University. My major coursework has included: multicultural counseling, group dynamics, child and
family development, and advanced systemic perspectives. Additionally, I have sought training and
education on anti-oppressive counseling for LGBTQ+ communities, trauma informed services, and
alternative families and relationships. I am also a member of Gestalt Training Center of Seattle where I
am trained in individual and couples therapy from a contemporary Gestalt perspective.

Registered Intern Status

I am a registered intern with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists. As
an intern I will abide by the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics and the Oregon Board of
Professional Counselors and Therapists. More information can be found on the board’s website:

I am under the ongoing supervision of Marie Cacao, LMFT, CADC1, I will be happy to explain that
process if you would like more information. Marie Cacao can be contacted at (503) 985-8377

stored payment information in the event of a no-show fee, deductible or overdue balance older than 10
business days. Hint Health provides the option of authorizing an ACH withdrawal from a checking
account or the use of a debit or credit card. If you choose to use a debit or credit card, you will be charged
a 3% service fee for each transaction.

Fees

Please reference the Portland Mental Health and Wellness Fee Agreement and Disclosure Form.

Scheduling Policy

Most psychotherapy appointments last approximately 53-55 minutes. During established treatment, a
patient reserves one or more appointment hours per week with their therapist. If you are late, your
appointment will still end on time in order to maintain the schedule for other patients. There is a charge of
$75 for missed sessions irrespective of the reason for the absence, except in cases when you are able to
reschedule for an available spot during the same week of the cancelled appointment. Insurance will not
pay this fee. This fee does not apply to patients using Medicaid, OHP or HealthShare.

For example, if your appointment is regularly on Mondays at 10AM:

● If you know during your appointment that the following Monday you will not be able to
make your next appointment, you can cancel without paying the cancellation fee.
● From Tuesday to the next Monday, if you have to cancel, you can contact your therapist
to see if it is possible to reschedule within the same Tuesday to Monday period.
● If you are not able to reschedule, you will be responsible to pay the $75 fee for the
cancelled appointment. Insurance does not cover this fee.
● If your therapist is able to find someone else to take your regular appointment that week,
you will not be charged the fee for the cancellation.

An additional exception is made for extended vacations or other mutually agreed upon circumstances.
We do not have a 24 or 48 hour cancellation policy for psychotherapy.
