DYNAMICS OF ELECTRICAL MACHINES

UNIT-I
1 a Define Kron’s primitive machine. How the various windings of a machine represented by 5M
the primitive machine?
b Write the voltage equations for Kron’s primitive machine in matrix form? List the 5M
observations are made from the impedance matrix.

2 Explain two phase winding model of a rotating machine under balanced condition. Show 10M
that power invariance is maintained under this transformation.
UNIT-II
3 Sketch and discuss briefly the following basic and schematic representation of the machines: 10M
a. DC shunt machine with interpoles
b. Synchronous machine with and without damper
c. Three phase induction machine

b Write any three major differences between the Reference Frames for Induction Motor

b Describe how the synchronous machine can be used as a synchronous condenser in power 5M
system.

its generalized mathematical model and also derive expression for torque.
b With neat sketch explain the principle of operation of Synchronous Machine. Also drive the 5M
EMF equation.

7 Derive and develop the mathematical model for Large Signal Transient Analysis in 10M
interconnected systems.
