THE RUSSELL REPORT June 3, 2019

Dear Friends and Partners in this ministry:

So far 2019 has been a year for a few health challenges. 2Cor. 4:16-18 has been a source of encouragement. My “outer
man is decaying, yet the inner man is being renewed” And I have been reminded to “look not at the things which are
seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen
are eternal.” I was
scheduled to travel
to Brazil to help
team-teach a
seminar to some 58
Venezuelan pastors
and wives that came
across the border to
take the training we Training Venezuelan pastors & wives in evangelism & discipleship.
offered on
evangelism and discipleship. But the day before I was to leave on the trip, I had to go to the hospital for a medical
condition. The other missionary had to carry on without me. But God blessed in a great way. These pastors told us
that they had never received training like this before and they were excited to return to their churches in Venezuela and
put into practice the things they learned. They have set some lofty goals they want to accomplish for the first 3 months
and then also 6-month goals. Later I had to go into the hospital again due to a slipped disc in my lower back. The
doctors were able to help me avoid surgery by going into physical therapy, but it was a slow (and painful!) road to
recovery.

Please check out the pictures that highlight ministries we have been involved in since our last prayer letter:

If your church has not had

us in yet to report on the
ministry, please contact us
and we will get it on the
calendar. We have lost
some support due to
diminishing church budgets
and retired supporters
having to cut back on their
financial resources.
Additionally, health
insurance rates went up
20%. As of today, we are
$797 under-supported each
month. Please pray that
God might bring in the
balance of our monthly
shortage. About 75% of

Preaching on Sunday after the married couples retreat at

the Spanish church.

Our 9th grandbaby was born - Ethan

Russell born to Luke & Ellen Russell, their
first child. Little Ethan was born with Cystic
Fibrosis. Many of you that knew have
prayed and we thank you for that.

Going out for dinner with new missionaries to Chile,

Colombia and Brazil during the New Missionary
Orientation training time. They will serve in Church
Planting, Missionary Aviation, Evangelism & Discipleship.

Another baseball season is underway. I am

privileged to serve as the Spanish Chaplain for the
Harrisburg Senators, an AA affiliate of the
Washington Nationals. I preach the gospel every
chapel to players that come from the Dominican
Republic, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama,
and Puerto Rico.
Our resident seminary in Colombia is
only 2 years old. We open the school
year with a Bible Conference. This year
we invited Answers in Genesis. During
the preparation for this conference, one
Board member said we should plan on
having about 300 people. When the
day arrived, there were around 800.
This shows the great hunger in Latin
America for Theological Education and
Bible Training. We need people to come
and help us train Latin Americans so
that they can take the gospel to places
in the world where it is difficult for
North Americans to go.

I was privileged to participate in our annual Theological Educators Summit where we

invited missionaries from around the world to come and get more training and be
better equipped at teaching and training national believers on the mission field. In
Latin America we especially need more people to come and serve in the teaching and
training of national believers. They are crying out for our help.

Chile is another place where

we desperately need
teachers for our Bible
Institute. We also need
people that will come
alongside Chilean pastors
and help them in starting
new churches. Are you
willing to join our team and
have an impact in the world
that will reap eternal
benefits? We need you! It’s
harvest time in Latin
America!
Nikki and I had lunch with missionary colleagues Our English-speaking Christian School in Santiago, Chile
from around the world. At our table everyone was is in great need of both short term and long term
from Chile. We thank God for these folks. Between teachers and principals for the elementary division and
these three couples there is around 75 years of secondary division. Can you help us?
missionary service represented.

Pray for trips we have scheduled to Peru, Chile,

Colombia, and elsewhere. Thanks for
remembering us in your prayers and financial
gifts. We love you and thank God for you!

Thanks for praying,

Scott &
Nikki
Russell I had the privilege of preaching the Commissioning Service
message recently for a family preparing to leave to go and serve in
Chile. The title was “Here Am I, Send Me.” From Isaiah 6.
