Performance enhancing drugs such as steroids should not be used in sports.

Performance
enhancing drugs are used by athletes so they can perform at a higher level but people shouldn't
use drugs in sports such as steroids. Some ​major league sports will ban the players for a certain
amount of games. It is unfair to the athletes that don’t use steroids.

Players will get banned from playing sports for example “The Tour de France cyclist won
the race seven years in a row - but had those victories stripped from him after it was found he
had been taking drugs to help his performance during this time.
He also received a lifetime ban from competing in all sports which follow the Word Anti-Doping
code.” This is what happened to cyclist Lance Armstrong, he lost all his wins and received a
lifetime ban. Although sometimes people won’t get banned but they will get suspended from a
certain amount of games, for example on “​Jan. 27, 2011: OJ Mayo​ -- suspended 10 games after
testing positive for dehydroepiandrosterone.” ​Ovinton J'Anthony "O. J." Mayo was suspended for 
using dehydroepiandrosterone. Dehydroepiandrosterone is a n ​ aturally occurring weak
androgenic steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands with benefits such as the prevention
of aging, the improvement of sexual function, the enhancement of athletic performance, and the
treatment of osteoporosis.

The use of steroids should not be used in general do to the fact that it can affect the health
of a person. Using steroids can cause weight gain, liver damage, high blood pressure and other
health defects. With that being said, steroids can cause issues so playing sports and using steroids
can only bring more negative outcomes to a person.

Using steroids is very unfair to the players that play fair and don’t use steroids because
the people that are not using steroids are working super hard to get better putting hours in the
gym and putting more hours in the sport there working on. Then these players have to compete
against people that use steroids and guess who wins, the people that are putting on 0 work.
Another reason it is unfair to players that don’t use steroids is that the officials of the game don’t
notice or say anything until the end of the game. I feel that they should do a drug test before
every games to make sure that nobody is able to use steroids.

Steroids should not be used in professional sports because they can enhance your skills in
sports. If you do use steroids you can risk getting suspended for a certain amount of time or
worse getting banned from playing the sport for life. Therefore, the use of steroids shouldn’t be
used to try to enhance your performance in sports do to the fact that it can have many negative
outcomes such as being banned from games and they can affect your health.
