Suicides happen everyday but they mainly happen within teenagers. Most suicides
happen due to bullying, negative outlooks on oneself. Having a negative interaction on the world
and mainly depression. To spread awareness about depression and its effects. Schools must carry
out programs that encourage peers to looks out for each other, or get medical treatment.
Classmates, friends and peers should always look out for each other because there might
be a person which has depression but might not notice it because it might feel like a normal
feeling to them. They might stop doing the things that they would normally find fun. This is the
stage of denial. The person might know that they have depression but they don’t want to admit to
themselves that they do so they just deny every symptom. In the website called Five Stages of
Grief it states “You might think life makes no sense, has no meaning, and is too overwhelming.
You start to deny the news and, in effect, go numb.” This proves that when people are depressed
they deny so that they feel “numb”. Schools should teach others about how a person might feel
differently and how to tell when a person is not telling the truth about how they feel because
many times there is a person that is not feeling fine but they say that they are and they just collect
all these feelings until they can’t take it and try to take their own life.
However you could cure or try to prevent any further depression is getting the medical
treatment and help that you need. Many people are scared of telling others about them being
depressed because they are scared that they will judge or think that they won’t help either way so
why ask. Some of the huge risk factors for an attempt at suicide is when a person has major
anxiety, abusing the use of drugs or alcohol, and if they have any emotional disorders. In the
Health and Wellness book in chapter 9 it states “More than 90% of the people who kill
themselves are suffering from depression or another mental disorder, or are abusing alcohol or
drugs.” If you know that you have some sort of bad past or are addicted to drugs or alcohol then
you should go see a doctor because they will help you and give you the treatment that you need
in order to stop being depressed do that it won’t lead to any further actions. Schools should
address the risks of becoming addicted to drugs or alcohol because many start to do such things
On the other hand some people might not agree with oneself. Some people believe that
the person which is depressed is just faking it to get attention for others. Some also believe that
depressed people are just weak and can’t cope with the fact that they are just really sad and not
depressed. In the website Five Stages of Grief they stated “you might withdraw from life, feel
numb, live in a fog, and not want to get out of bed.” Lastly many believe that depressed people
are just lazy because they would just stay in their room all day and do nothing. All these
assumptions are symptoms of depression, these are things that people do when they are
depressed. They lock themselves up in their rooms because they lock themselves away from the
everyday to every person that they see could have depression just don’t want to show others
because they believe that if they do others will see the weakness in them and take advantage.
Depression is like a mental prison game, there are thoughts that you might want to forget but
can’t because your brain is trapping them in your memory. It is something that plays around with
your thoughts, and only collects the bad thoughts and memories. There are cures for depression
which would decrease the percent of suicides each year which happen due to depression more
than half of the time. This is why schools should address the stage or just being depressed
because if schools don’t students don’t know how to cope with the feeling and might think that
