Q. What is VMware Cloud Verified?
A. VMware Cloud Verified is VMware’s ingredient branding for
cloud. This brand is targeted at our customers and
prospects to engage and connect them with VMware Cloud
Provider partners who can deliver service offerings based
on VMware Cloud Infrastructure technology. The benefits
to the customer include:
o Integration and interoperability – Deploy core
compute, storage, and network building blocks
that give you the freedom and flexibility to run
your apps where you want, in the cloud or your
data center.
o Flexibility – Choose from a wide range of
VMware Cloud Providers worldwide with vertical
focus, unique capabilities, and differentiated skills
while avoiding vendor lock-in.
o Cost optimization – Rely on your IT team’s
existing skill sets and lower your TCO with
consistent operations and infrastructure across
clouds.
Q. What value do VMware Cloud Verified partners
provide to customers?
A. Customers deploying workloads on VMware Cloud
Provider partners with the Cloud Verified logo are choosing
an infrastructure platform that gives them freedom and
control today and into the future. They enjoy compatibility
and interoperability with best-in-class cloud options from
VMware Cloud Providers. Cloud Verified partners combine
simple, agile, and secure data centers and private clouds—
all enabled by VMware Cloud Infrastructure technologies to
give customers the strongest, most flexible cloud
infrastructure for digital business transformation.
Q. How will VMware drive value to the Cloud Verified
brand?
A. VMware will leverage a combination of paid, earned and
owned display and social media to define the Cloud
Verified brand to customers and prospects as well as
promoting the brand on VMware.com, Cloud.VMware.com
and CloudProviders.VMware.com. In addition, we will
review options for large scale awareness campaigns to
drive greater awareness and value to the brand over time.
Q. How do we message partners who are VMware Cloud
Verified vs. VMware Cloud on AWS?
A. Positioning should be based on customer choice. VMware
Cloud Verified represents services delivered by VMware
Cloud Provider partners. These services, while based on
VMware Cloud Infrastructure, are managed and operated
by our partners and available where they have data center
operations. Additionally, our Cloud Verified partners can
offer managed services to meet specific customer
requirements. VMware Cloud on AWS is a service
managed and operated by VMware leveraging AWS
infrastructure.
Q. Is there compatibility between VMware Cloud on AWS
and cloud services offered by VMware Cloud Verified
partners?
A. VMware Cloud Verified partners are better equipped to
offer compatibility with VMware Cloud on AWS or
customers on premise Private Cloud deployments. Cloud
Verified partner clouds are built on VMware Cloud
Foundation or using certified reference design with a
defined compatibility matrix. Any use case requiring
compatibility between a VMware Cloud Verified partner
cloud service and VMware Cloud on AWS should
be confirmed on a case-by-case basis.
Q. What is the difference between VMware Cloud
Verified and the VMware Cloud Provider Platform?
A. The VMware Cloud Verified logo provides customers
assurance that they’re deploying workloads with Cloud
Provider partners on a validated VMware based
infrastructure platform leveraging VMware technologies for
compute, networking and storage providing compatibility
with their in-house infrastructure and giving them the
freedom and flexibility to run their apps where they want.
The VMware Cloud Provider Platform
integrates VMware’s industry-leading SDDC with vCloud
Director (vCD) for multi-tenant Cloud Management with

Tenant Self-service, metering to deliver subscription-based

billing, Operations and Management, and in future
solutions such as vCloud Availability that deliver business
outcomes. The VMware Cloud Provider Platform enables
Cloud Providers to drive revenue growth, lower their
operational expenses, and drive sustainable differentiation
in an increasing competitive market place.
Because there is no one size that fits all, the VMware
Cloud Provider Platform gives the Cloud Providers the
flexibility and choice to deploy solutions that best meet their
operational and business requirements. This added
flexibility and choice is delivered with Certified Reference
Designs (CRDs), which are based on profile-based testing
and validation with certified interop matrix and reference
design guides.

Q. How does a VMware Cloud Provider partner become

VMware Cloud Verified?
A. Current qualifications for becoming a Cloud Verified partner
are deployment of a full VMware Cloud Foundation solution
or deployment of the Cloud Provider Platform. Details on
the Cloud Provider Platform requirements will be provided
in the near future. VMware Cloud Provider partners must
also attain Premier standing in the Cloud Provider Program
to be eligible utilize the Cloud Verified logo.

Q. Does this mean that VMware will not promote

partners who are not VMware Cloud Verified?
A. Not at all. VMware will continue to promote the full Cloud
Provider partner ecosystem to our customer globally via
https://cloudproviders.vmware.com as well as via local
marketing campaigns. The full 4,000+ Cloud Provider
partner ecosystem remains a key part of the larger VMware
Cloud Strategy.

Q. How will partners promote their solutions using the

VMware Cloud Verified logo?
A. VMware Cloud Provider partners should promote their
solutions using the VMware Cloud Verified logo on their
VMware solutions web site, content, collateral,
presentations and digital media.
