Corrected a problem that attachcmddev_login() or attachcmddev() may cause a core dump

1 SSB=4470 output and failure suspension
Phenomena When offline micro-program exchange or volatile PS-OFF/ON was
performed, SSB=4407 was output. In this case, if there was any UR pair
in COPY or PAIR status, failure suspension occurred.
Severity (High, Medium, Low) Medium
Conditions of Occurrence The problem may occur when all the following conditions are met.
(1) Universal Replicator, Universal Replicator for Mainframe
(2) JNLG is already defined.
(3) Offline micro-program exchange, or volatile PS-ON after PS-OFF.
Causes and Updates The micro-program has been modified to fix the problem.

2 Drive blockade and no progress of reboot on SVP
Phenomena Drives was blocked during the time between the completions of SCHIP
micro-program exchange download processing and reboot initiation, and
the reboot processing status displayed on SVP did not make a progress.
SSB=DFxx, and EFxx.
Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs when HDD failures occur during the time between
the completions of SCHIP micro-program exchange download and reboot
initiation and then a drive is blocked.

3 TC failure suspension after cache blockade

Phenomena When a cache PCB was blocked during host I/O to a TC P-VOL,
SIM=0xd41003 and SSB=B839 were output, and only one of TC pairs
was suspended by failure.
Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs when all the following conditions are met.
(1) True Copy or True Copy for Mainframe.
(2) A host I/O is issued to a TC pair.
(3) Cache failure blockade occurs.

4 Failure of UR Open MxN function during CCI pair addition

Phenomena In UR Open MxN configuration, when pair addition was executed from
CCI while the status of JNLG was "Stop", the UR Open MxN function
(*) did not work.
* Data restoring function while keeping consistency among multiple
DKCs.
(1) UR Open MxN configuration
(2) JNLG is in Stop status by suspends operation or failure suspend.
(3) Pair creation in Open MxN configuration is executed from CCI.

5 Micro-program update failure in configuration without DKA
Phenomena At micro-program upgrade in a configuration without DKA, if DKAF
was also checked on Micro-program Exchange dialog box and the
upgrading was executed, the operation itself was completed normally, but
[MP Ver. (Curt./FM)] on Version window of SVP Maintenance window
showed abnormality. All the information on [MP Ver. (Curt./FM)] was in
red. Besides, * (asterisk) was added to the end of version of DKAF.
(1) Configuration without DKA
(2) On Micro-program Exchange dialog box, DKAF is checked.

6 ABEND of DKA replacement/installation or DKA blockade

Phenomena When micro-program downgrade was executed while DKCMAIN was
selected and DKAF was not selected, micro-program consistency of
DKCMAIN and DKAF was not checked, and micro-program downgrade
ended normally. (SVP message=SMT2434i, SSB=1Axx)
After that, the following problem might occur.
(1) DKA replacement ended abnormally.
(2) DKA installation ended abnormally.
(3) After turning power OFF or PS OFF, when the system was activated,
DKA was blocked.

7 I/O performance degradation

Phenomena When an I/O was issued to drives of CDEV#:0x0B and later, the I/O
performance degraded by 8KIOPS.
Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs when the following condition is met.
(1) An I/O is issued to drives of CDEV#:0x0B and later.
8 I/O processing stop with SSB=B801 output at pair deletion
Phenomena When a UR pair using LUSE volumes was deleted during I/O processing,
the I/O processing stopped and SSB=B801 was output.
(1) Open
(2) There is a UR pair using an LDEV used for LUSE.
(3) An I/O is executed.
(4) The UR pair is deleted.
Causes and Updates The micro-program has been modified to display correct numbers.
9 Inconsistency among JNL groups in MxN configuration

Phenomena In UR Open MxN configuration, when Flush Suspend was executed from
CCI, JNL groups in MxN configuration became inconsistent. (The
consistency in each JNL group was kept.)
(1) UR Open MxN configuration
(2) Flush Suspend is executed from CCI.
10 Incorrect operating rate of parity groups on PM

Phenomena When I/Os were issued to drives, the following occurred on Performance
Monitor.
(1) The operating rate of PG1-1 was 100%.
Conditions of Occurrence The phenomenon occurs when I/Os are issued to parity groups.

11 ALARM lamp and SIM output at MP PCB failure
Phenomena During dump collection, when an MP PCB failure occurred, ALARM
lamp lighted up and SIM=3073xy (Processor blockage EC=32FE) was
output.
(1) Dump is being collected.
(2) A error in communication between SVP and DKC occurs
(SSB=391F).
12 Host I/O time-out or SSB=12F6 output

Phenomena When a host issued an I/O while the operating rate of processor was high,
the I/O wrongly turned to time-out (performance of host I/O degraded) or
SSB=12F6 was wrongly output.
(1) The operating rate of processor is high.
(2) A host issues an I/O. (read or write)
13 No check before replacement of CHT with path for TC/UR

Phenomena When CHT with a path used for TC/TC for Mainframe or UR/UR for
Mainframe was replaced, a warning message was not displayed and
replacement was preceded. As a result, if the number of paths became
fewer than the minimum, the pair status of TC/TC for Mainframe of
UR/UR for Mainframe became Suspend and SIMs=D400xx, DC00xx and
DC60xx were output.
Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs when CHT with a path used for TC/TC for
Mainframe or UR/UR for Mainframe is replaced.

14 DRR blockage with SSBs output during LDEV format
Phenomena During LDEV format, multiple DRRs were blocked and SSBs=7B48,
7B58, and B2CB were output.
(1) The number of CUs that can be mounted (64 CUs/255CUs) is set to
255.
(2) LDEV format of Mainframe VOL is performed.

15 Pair suspend at path failure

Phenomena UR for Mainframe or XRC pairs suspend when an HPF I/O is being
performed, and the HPF path fails between the host and the DKC.
(1) URz volumes are in other statuses than Suspend or XRC volumes are
in Pair status.
(2) zHPF on host side is enabled and there is an HPF license on RAID
side.
(3) A FICON path failure (including cable disconnection) occurs. (a host
message such as "IOS050I CHANNEL DETECTED ERROR" is
reported)

16 SIM=FFFAxx output and CM PCB blinking on Maintenance

window after SM removal
Phenomena After SM removal without cache removal, SIM=FFFAxx was output and
a CM PCB blinked on Maintenance window.
Conditions of Occurrence The problem may occur when one of the following conditions is met.
(1) All of the following.
- Cache is installed or removed.
- There is no configuration change to the basic CM PCB.
- SM size is changed.
(2) SM size is changed without cache installation and removal.

17 Frequent SSB=6D79 and host message output after switching to
Hyper PAV
Phenomena When the PAV mode was switched to Hyper PAV on a host, SSB=6D79
and host message IOS071I (START PENDING) might frequently be
output.
(1) Mainframe host connection
(2) One of the following operations is executed during I/O processing.
(a) The host PAV mode is switched to Hyper PAV while the Hyper PAV
license is already installed.
(b) While the host PAV mode is Hyper PAV, the Hyper PAV license is
installed.
(c) After the PAV license expires while the host PAV mode is Hyper
PAV and the Hyper PAV and PAV licenses are already installed, the
PAV license is installed again.

18 RCU operation failed or executed for a wrong RCU

Phenomena When an RCU operation (such as path addition, path deletion, or RCU
option change) was executed from CCI, the operation failed or was
executed for a different RCU.
Also, if a registered path was specified at an RCU operation (path
addition) for a RCU where 8 paths already had been registered, the RCU
operation failed.
SSB1=2ED6, SSB1=3005, and SSB=48D3 were output.
(1) RCU is registered and then deleted.
(2) For a RCU which is not deleted, any of the following operations is
executed from CCI.
- Path addition (raidcom add rcu_path)
- Path deletion (raidcom delete rcu_path)
- RCU option change (raidcom modify rcu)
(3) True Copy, True Copy for Mainframe, Universal Replicator,
Universal Replicator for Mainframe

19 Temporary link down or continuous ICC occurrence
Phenomena After HTP micro-program exchange, temporary link down occurred or
ICC continuously occurred with the following output.
SSB=1601, 1602, 7A20 (Err_Code: 26A0, 708C, 1870)
HTP=26A0, 708C, 1870
(1) FICON is used.
(2) An MPB is installed while HPF (Compatible High Performance
Connectivity for FICON) is installed. After that, PS OFF and ON, or
replacement of CMF PCB with which a host path is connected is not
performed.
(3) Online HTP micro-program exchange is performed.
(4) The host issues an HPF command to DKC.

20 HPF disabled on z/OS after HTP micro-program exchange

Phenomena After an MP PCB was newly installed while HPF was installed, when
HTP micro-program was exchanged, HPF on z/OS became "disable".
Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs when all the following operations are performed in
that order.
(1) HPF installation
(2) MP PCB installation
(3) HTP micro-program exchange

21 SSB=7A20 wrongly output twice at CHK2

Phenomena During read I/O processing in multiple devices in a FICON environment,
if CHK2 occurred due to a hardware failure or LA error, SSB=7A20
(HTP_EC=0407), which was supposed to be output once, might be output
twice.
(1) FICON connection environment.
(2) Read I/Os are multiply executed.
(3) CHK2 occurs due to a hardware failure.

22 Update of SSD micro-program
Phenomena "02/0480" error was reported from the SSDs indicating a failure of Power
Back part inside the SSD.
Conditions of Occurrence The phenomenon occurs on both SDT2A-S and SDT5A-S with SSD
micro-program Rev.00-00-48.
Causes and Updates The SSD micro-program has been modified to fix the unexpected
02/0480 error reporting.

23 WCHK1 occurrence during I/O processing to SATA drive

Phenomena During I/O processing to a SATA drive, if statistics information was
collected, WCHK1 occurred and SSB=32FE, A403, AE61 and
SIM=3080xx were output.
(1) 256 or more LDEVs are installed.
(2) SATA drives are mounted.
(3) By a write I/O to a SATA drive, an unrecovered media-related failure
occurs frequently.

24 TDMF processing stopped with host error message

Phenomena When migration was executed by using Transparent Data Migration
Facility (TDMF) after SETCACHE CACHEFASTWRITE OFF from
IBM utility (IDCAMS), a host error message (GTD2330E/GTD2596I)
was output and the TDMF processing was stopped.
(1) Mainframe host connection
(2) Any of the following commands to change Subsystem Mode is
executed on IDCAMS.
- SUBSYSTEM OFF
- CACHEFASTWRITE OFF
- NVS OFF
- DEVICE OFF
- DASDFASTWRITE OFF
(3) TDMF is performed.
