PROJECT
Part A (Lot):
• Find a “dream” residential sub-dividable lot (you must be able to access the plat or assessor’s map from the county of
your choice). Clark County Nevada (http://redrock.co.clark.nv.us/assrrealprop/site.aspx) is a good choice due to their
excellent website resources.
• Collect all county data on the lot via the website (ownership/taxes/last sales price/assessor map/soil conditions/etc)
• The lot must be empty via the Google Earth/Clark County aerial image, but have significant slope in the topography when
viewed in 3D mode (this apparent error in site shape is due to the terrain data being collected in 2000 – any land that was
developed after 2000 will exhibit this peculiarity)
• To begin, download the terrain data from Infraworks or other 3D topographic resource, including a space large enough for
5 houses.
• You will be excavating the land section to conforms to you house footprint and redistribute the dirt to maximize effect.
o Once the terrain is inserted into AutoCAD and it is turned into a solid model, you will use the assessor map to
generate at least one service road and a minimum of 3 lots adjacent to the road, which will then require you to
grade the land to meet your needs.
o The grading element will require you to find the appropriate elevation of each parcel and your road, to make the
net volume change equal zero (no dirt in or out)
o You will also perform a very basic hydrology study and you will add at least one pipe or catchment to try a match
the original water flow before your lot and roadway grading.
• Individual lot size limits: 8,700 – 43,560 sq ft (0.20 – 1 acre)
• Must be zoned Residential (1-10) | R1-R3 or Vacant Residential (0-00)
GRADING:
Grading: Accuracy of drawings (based on location, original structure dimensions, practicality, etc)
Creativity: Whether or not it is a “good” idea. Details of design and explanations of parts are also involved in grading.
Report: Generate a professional report with renderings, images, estimates, calculations, etc.
