It’s time to put on your architect hat and go to work. You’re designing your very own
dream house, so start thinking about what kind of house you want to live in. This is your
time to figure it out! You will create a blueprint, or scale drawing, of your dream house.
Your project will be graded according to the provided rubric. To get the highest grade, you
must turn in the most professional design.
Requirements:
-The blueprint will be done as a 2-dimensional, top-view drawing (this is called “plan”
view). Imagine you can take the roof off of your house and look straight down at it from
above. This view is what you’ll draw.
-The blueprint must include at least 7 rooms (Living room, bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms,
garage, closet, etc.). It must also show hallways, doorways, and windows. For consistency,
make hallways 4 feet wide and doorways 3 feet wide.
-A rough draft done on graph paper and a final draft done on printer paper must be turned
in. The final draft should be neat and accurately drawn. Add color to increase interest.
-An accurate scale needs to be listed on your final draft. This scale should compare the
blueprint measurements to the actual house measurements (ex: 1 cm = 4 feet). You should
also list the blueprint and actual measurements for each room on your final draft.
