1. Introduction
The Introduction
This portion of the paper is an opening body of knowledge which highlights the
discussion of the topic. The introduction shall follow this move structure: first
paragraph shall contain the overall discussion of the topic, second paragraph shall
provide studies related to the topic, the third paragraph shall discuss the problems
encountered in relation to the topic, and the fourth paragraph shall explain as to
how the research to be conducted can serve in explaining why the
problems exists and provide practical solutions to alleviate the identified problem.
2. Methodology
This section of the paper contains the research design, participants, instrument,
and procedure. The abovementioned should be specified and discussed in order
to present a thick description of the technical terms in qualitative research.
2.1 Design
This section pertains to the research design to be used in the study whether
pure phenomenology, hermeneutics phenomenology, narrative, or single or
multiple case study.

2.2 Subjects/Informants/Participants
This portion of the chapter will discuss who are the subjects (for case study),
informants (for narrative) and participants (for phenomenological) involved in the
research. The sampling to be utilized would also be discussed and elaborated
herein where the researchers will explain and discuss the nature of the sampling
and the process involving it.
2.3 Instrument
This section of the paper shall discuss what will be used to gather the data needed
in the research (e.g. interview guide questions). The researchers need to
comprehensively discuss their guide and probing questions here. Moreover, the
manner for documentation or recording also needs to be elaborated here (e.g.
audiotape, voice recorder, video recorder).
2.4. Procedure
The procedure is the discussion of the appropriate steps needed for the
development of the research study. Specifically, the researcher/s will follow these
important steps which they will have to discuss individually:
(a) Letter seeking for the principal’s approval
- Researchers need to indicate that prior to the provision of the consent to
the informants, the signature of the principal should be sought
(h) Triangulation (for phenomenology) / Thick description (for case and narrative)
- For researchers who have used the phenomenological research, the
themes generated from the KII will undergo the triangulation process
wherein the themes will be counter-checked by the responses of the FGD
participants to establish consistency and completeness.
- Meanwhile, for those who have used the case study and narrative research,
the responses from the KII will be supported by a thick description of
literatures which may contradict or support the themes.
3. Results
This section of the paper will present the research findings gained through the
analysis of themes and codes from the responses of the Key Informant Interview.
