The following information written by the student provides an overview of the product proposal as planned. Student: Carly Angel, 2020 Date: June 10, 2019 Research Title: A Look into Fast Fashion: The Causes, Effects, and How to Help Purpose: To examine the environmental and social effects of the fast fashion industry, consumer purchasing. behaviors especially in teens, and brand manipulation tactics associated with fast fashion. Also, how sustainable fashion can help with some of the problems that fast fashion causes, along with other methods like; recycling and donating clothing. Expected Product/Outeome: The production/outcomes of the year of study is a presentation at the Howard County Student Learning Conference. Along with a consumer awareness seminar for students at River Hill High School, where teens can learn about fast fashion and what they can do to help. Finally, an article published in the River Hill High School newspaper to increase awareness among more teens on the issues of fast fashion Novelty of Product: Teens are one of the largest demographics that are targeted by fast fashion brands because they are more susceptible to advertising especially on social media, So, itis eritical to make sure that they are informed on all ofthe detrimental things that fast fashion does to the environment and the workers making the clothing for these brands. Audience: The intended audience is teenagers and young adults ranging from 12-20. Consumers in this age range are more likely to shop at fast fashion brands because the clothing is designed primarily for young people. So, they ate the ones that need to be informed on the fast fashion industry and how to be more aware Process: 1. Read and analyze scholarly articles on the fast fashion industry and the negative environmental and social effects it has. Also, the sustainable fashion industry's and the relationship between these two industries, Contact associations and professionals inthe field to find out more information. Receive assistance from advisors, Dr. Shipra Gupta from the University of Illinois and Dr, Michelle Childs from the University of Tennessee. 3. Expand research topic to take a closer look at consumer behavior and awareness, and sustainability after conducting interviews with my advisors. 4. Compile information from journals and interviews into a background paper. 5. Complete and analyze an data collection by surveying students at River Hill High School on fast fashion awareness and brand loyalty. 6. Add the results of the data collection to paper and ereate a synthesis paper. 7, Present findings at Howard County Student Learning Conterence. 8.
