In today’s society, it can be riskey posting things online. Not only can hundreds of people
potentially see what you post without mattering if it is good or bad, posting online can result
in a hit or miss situation. Has the way people expressed their thoughts and opinions years ago
really changed that much? People in the same communities years ago and today still share
what they think with others face to face, probably assuming there will be no conflict.
More people these days should start thinking before they decide to publicly post their
thoughts. Over the years, the ways people have expressed themselves have drastically
changed. Before the world wide web was introduced, people could talk about their opinions in
person and get a response immediately. In today’s society, it’s different. Picking up a phone
and posting something opinionated is just as easy as solving 1 + 1.
You might be wondering, “What happened to freedom of speech?”. Of course, you have the
right to post what you want online and give your own opinions but it is obvious that many
people do not care about your opinion. In this day and age, it seems like the only time people
care about your opinion is if they agree with it. If you write a 10 paragraph essay online about
why the ending of some show sucks, there will be backlash.
“If you write a 10 paragraph Is posting your opinions online really worth the
essay online about why the struggle of some random person on the internet
ending of some show sucks, getting angry over a simple disagreement or
there will be backlash.” thought? Honestly, opinions are one of the most
significant things about a person. Not only can they express something new about a specific
media or post, it can show who they are as a person and how they think. Thoughts make
people themselves and if opinions are what causes this then so be it! Let that person have their
negative opinion on your favorite song or artist! If you disagree with them so much that you
feel the need to say something, do it in a positive and nice manner. There’s no need to get
angry at what someone writes over a screen.

All in all, it is important to write. Whether it’s about the new movie you just saw or about a
rude character in a tv show, write! Even though posting online can be toxic and you might
encounter many negative people, writing allows you to talk about things! Online posting can
be effective by getting your own word out to big amounts of people. It even allows others to
see another person’s point of view.

Even though you might see writing as only essays or articles, it can be texts or post updates,
too! Everyone writes in some way every day of their life so it is important to note how much
we actually do it. Being able to share your thoughts and opinions with others that might agree
or disagree goes to show that writing things are worth it! Hearing what others think and
comparing it to your own can make for a great friendship or even just a small discussion! Don’t
be afraid to post things online-- when you aren’t looking for trouble, at least!
