A CRICKET MATCH

―SPORTS SERVE SOCIETY BY PROVIDING VIVID EXAMPLES OF EXCELLENCE‖ (GEORGE WILL)

Games and sports are a great source of merriment and recreation. They not only recharge us but also provide us enthusiasm for life.
ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL BOY is a well-known maxim. Good heath is a great benefit. ONLY A HEALTHY BODY
POSSESSES A HEALTHY MIND. A healthy man can work more competently and cheerfully whereas a sick man is a liability to others in a society.
The proper way to maintain good health is to play games so that our muscles which generally remain inactive during mental labour may have
exercise. ―SPORTS DO NOT BUILD CHARACTER; THEY REVEAL IT‖ (Casey Stengel).

Sports and games are not only useful in health keeping but also beneficial in mental growth. They make sportsmen confident and
tolerant. They prepare us for life. The battle of practical life requires patience to experience its hardships. The captain learns how to lead
others. A good captain possesses all the qualities of a great leader. He inspires trust in the members of his team and has insight into their
characters. As it is well said, ―PLAYGROUND TRAINS US FOR THE BATTLE OF PRACTICAL LIFE‖

Nowadays, games are playing a vital role in creating international brotherhood. Players from one part of the world visit other
countries. They are unofficial ambassadors of their countries. They create interest among the foreigners to know the country to which they
belong. Cricket is a very popular game of our country. It is full of great thrill, suspense and interest. It also develops in us discipline, sense of
individual and collective responsibility, team spirit, sportsmanship and qualities of a commander. ‖GO CONFIDENTLY IN THE DIRECTION OF
YOUR DREAMS‖ HENRY DAVID

Everyone plays or likes to watch it in T.V. Its popularity is increasing day by day. Especially One-day and Twenty Twenty matches
are full of interest and amusement. A Cricket Test match is a great show anywhere in the world. Thousands of men, women and children go to
see it with pleasure; and millions more watch it on the television sets. It has become the number one game throughout the world. The
international cricketers are the heroes of the present day. They attract enormous crowds millions of dollars by way of advertisements
throughout the world.

These events are sponsored by the top –most companies of the world to earn a name and advertise their goods. The stadiums where
the cricket is played are places worth- seeing. They are provided with all the modern sophisticated equipment to ensure full safety and proper
telecast of the event throughout world live. The cricketers are treated state guests and the sponsors give out lots of prizes and awards to the
outstanding performers in the game.

There are very few people who are not interested in the game. The young and the old, women and children equally take interest in
watching cricket. It has given rise to a strange cricket culture. Lots of young boys dream to become successful cricketers and devote all their
time and energy to learn the skills of batting and blowing. Even women cricketers are showing their talents overboard. There are regular
women cricket clubs which give enough chances to young girls to enter the field of cricket.

Last month, I had a chance to watch a cricket match. The match was played between the teams of Govt. College of Science, A.B.C
and Govt. Post Graduate College, A.B.C on the smooth and clean ground of college. Our college was closed to enable the students to witness
this match. It was full of thrill and amusement. There was a huge crowed. Many people came from distant places to enjoy the match. We were
excited because our team was playing against its rival team. We were determined to win at any cost. As Imran Khan said, ―COMPROMISE FOR
YOUR DREAM BUT NEVER COMPROMISE ON YOUR DREAM‖

Both the teams were introduced to the chief guest. The match started at the fixed time. Our team won the toss and opted to bat.
Both the openers of our teams were very experienced batsman. They were very confident and played well. Their mutual understanding and
team work was excellent. ―TALENT WINS GAMES BUT TEAMWORK AND INTELLIGENCE WINS CHAMIONSHIPS‖ Their practice was evident on
the ground. As it is well said, ―THE MORE YOU SWEAT IN PRACTICE, THE MORE YOU BLESSED IN BATTLE‖

The two batsmen delighted us with brilliant boundaries and sixes. They scored 100 runs in 15 overs. But soon Tahir was out. He scored
58 runs. The players came one by one and delighted the crowd with their beautiful shorts. Students cheered and clapped loudly at every ball to
encourage the players. We were hopeful for setting a good target because our bowling line was very strong. ―FIRST OF ALL, CONVINCE
YOURSELF THAT YOU ARE THE BEST, BECAUSE THE REST OF YOUR LIFE IS GOING TO GO PROVING THIS TO OTHERS.‖ WASIM AKRAM.

At last, the whole team was out after making one hundred and ninety runs. The match was stopped for lunch. We also opened our
lunch boxes to refresh ourselves. The hawkers were roaming about with their trays filled with eatables. There was a lot of hustle and bustle in
the stadium. The ground was presenting colourful scene. Many boys were holding the flags in their hands to display their love for their teams.

After lunch, the rival team started its innings. Both the teams were very cautious the openers were nervous. Both the players bowled
very soon. They scored only ten runs in four overs. But, the next player played and scored well in twenty overs. The game went on steadily. The
players were playing beautiful shorts and nice cuts.

Our Capitan changed the bowlers. The new bowler produced a fine spell and got the wicket. One by one, the players went to
pavilion. The match was being played in a pleasant atmosphere. No one was certain about the conclusion of the match. As it is well said, ―ONE
PLAYER PRACTICING SPORTSMANSHIP IS FOR BETTER THAN FIFTY PREACHING IT.‖ (Ernest Hemingway)

It was the last pair. The rival team had scored 160 run in 48 overs. It was the moment full of suspense and thrill. There was a deep
silence in the ground. ―THE THRILL OF SUSPENSE IS A COMPETING MIXTURE OF HOPE AND FEAR‖ We were praying for the success of our
team. Our bowler played sensibly and got the wicket. Our college won the match by 10 runs. The captain of our team was declared the man of
match. After the match, the prize distribution ceremony was held in which players were awarded with trophies and cash prizes for their
performance.

There was great excitement among the spectators. The teachers were patting the players for their brilliant performance. It was a
thrilling and unforgettable experience for me. NEVER LET A WIN GET TO YOUR HEAD, OR A LOSS TO YOUR HEART. The winning of our team
delighted us a lot. However, the match was outstanding because we had a good match altogether. Both teams performed well despite the
matter of victory. It is well said, ―WINNING ISN‘T EVERYTHING, IT‘S THE ONLY THING.‖

CITY LIFE/LIFE IN A BIG CITY

―God made the country, man made the town,
What wonder then that health and virtue should most abound
And least be threatened in the fields and groves.‖ —William Cowper
There is a divided opinion about city life. Some consider it a paradise provided with every sort of luxury while some consider it a ditch
with every sort of ill and evil. It is man who makes every place worth living. Man is the architect of his own life. He makes it heaven as well as
hell by his own actions. ―THE MIND IS ITS OWN PLACE, AND IN ITSELF CAN MAKE A HEAVEN OF HELL, A HELL OF HEAVEN.‖

There are many demerits of a city life. It is characterized by polluted and noisy atmosphere. The life in a city is artificial and full of
hustle and bustle. Man is completely cut off from nature. He is not exposed to the sun, the moon and the stars. Life in a city is no doubt
comfortable, however the mental happiness is not found in cities. People remain obsessed and worried. They become material beasts. Their life
revolves around material gains. People in a city are always in a hurry. They do not find joy in living. They work like the slaves according to a
fixed routine. They are machines which revolve round the clock. The picture of modern city life is drawn by Davies as ―A POOR LIFE THIS IF,
FULL OF CARE, WE HAVE NO TIME TO STAND AND STARE.‖

The people of a city are mad after the material comforts of life. IN THE BUSY HAUNTS OF MEN. (FELICIA D. HEMANS) They have no
peace of mind. Materialism has made their lives dreary and dull. Mostly people are alienated and estranged with others. Even they don‘t
know about next door neighbors. IF YOU WOULD BE KNOW AND NOT BE KNOWN, LIVE IN A CITY. (COLTON) Therefore, they provide a safe
haven for terrorism and other anti state activities.

They have no cultural values and lack our traditions like hospitality and fraternity. They are selfish. They are showy and self centred.
Their social interaction is limited to their families. Many of the city people live in crowded areas. They don‘t inhale fresh air. Some of the
industrial cities are very dirty. The cities like Lahore, Karachi, Hyderabad, Sialkot and Faisalabad are often seen dirty with garbage and
sewage. The city people are greedy and cunning. They may dress well and have very good manners. But they are selfish inwardly. Mostly, the
values of comradeship, friendliness and sincerity are absent. They have their own axe to grind to get their objectives.

Pollution is another ill practice on the part of city life. The air pollution, noise pollution and water pollution are common in cities.
There is jangling discord of music, horns and vehicles. It causes many hearing defects and depression problems. Tension, anxiety and depression
are common features of city life. Pure water is mostly absent.

Population is very congested in cities. Traffic jam is common. Hours are wasted in the heavy traffic. The officials can‘t reach offices in
time. There is wastage of time and fuel. This problem enhances pollution. Pedestrians find it difficult to cross the roads. As a result, many
accidents happen. Another problem that the people living in big cities face is lack of pure and fresh foods. The quality of vegetables, fruits and
other eatables is very pathetic. Many hotels are the centres of diseases like hepatitis, hypertension, cardiac problems and stomach problems.
The low quality food causes many health troubles. CITIES, LIKE CATS, WILL REVEAL THEMSELVES AT NIGHT

Inflation and high price is another common attribute of city life. This causes living problems for the poor. Crimes result because of
dearness. The abduction of children, the use of narcotics, pick pocketing, theft and other street crimes are common. This brings insecurity
among the people. WHERE THE CRIMINALS COVER THEIR CRIMES BY MAKING THEM LEGAL. People are not socially interactive. This brings
negative change in them. They become mentally isolated and often suffer from psychological problems. IN CITIES NO ONE IS QUIET BUT MANY
ARE LONELY. (FISHER) Unplanned expansion of cities has enhanced the problems of law and order.

In the city, money is admired and money is indeed the core of all evils. Some of the young fall into bad crowds. In a busy environment
it‘s easier to be introduced to smoking, drinking, gambling, drug taking etc. As population density in cities increases, it leads to overcrowding.
As more people join the cities rush each day increases, roads and freeways become crowded. THE PEOPLE ARE THE CITY. (SHAKESPEARE) This
affects life in many ways. Increased movement of people from rural to urban areas puts a strain on the city's infrastructure. The demand for
housing is more than the supply of housing. It becomes impossible for the poor to shift towards cities.

The city life is mostly attracted towards fashion and modern civilization. There is the race of becoming modern and fashionable.
Contentment and high morals are commonly absent. WE DO NOT LOOK IN OUR GREAT CITIES FOR OUR BEST MORALITY. This promotes to
corruption, hoarding, cheating and adulteration. People are not familiar to one another. Therefore, it is easy to give room to such malicious
activities.
Some of the people are not aware for keep the sanitation in the city. Sanitation and cleanliness are most important factor to
improve the health of individuals, but it will not be possible for those persons who are unnecessary doing the insanitation in a city.

Life in a city is a mixture of opposites. On the one hand there are very tall buildings. Oh the other hand is dirty slums. Wealth and
poverty live side by side in cities. People die from starvation and overeating in cities at the same time. Beautiful buildings exist side by side
with smoky factories. It is full of hypocrisy, cut-throat competition and vulgarity. The pleasure-seeking men and women, however, keep on
moving to the cities in search of artificial recreation and modern facilities of life. As a result, the number of city-dwellers is increasing day by
day. Increasing urbanization is playing havoc with natural beauty and life is becoming more and more artificial every day.

City life has its own advantages and disadvantages. WHAT I LIKE ABOUT CITIES IS THAT EVERYTHING IS KING SIZE, THE BEAUTY
AND THE UGLINESS. (BRODSKY) Pleasures, entertainments and recreations are available more in cities than in villages. Cinemas, telephone,
television, video corners, health clubs, stereo phones and refrigerators are some of the important facilities to be found in cities.

In big cities, there are good and useful arrangements for education. A person with a moderate income can get good education for
his sons and daughters. There are various kinds of schools in big cities. A person can educate his wards according to his taste, attitude and
economic resources. There are many schools for boys and girls. They have well equipped libraries and reading rooms. We cannot avail
ourselves of these facilities in small towns and villages.

Cities provide many kinds of recreations. There are cinema houses where we can enjoy ourselves. We can easily get food to our
taste and according to our means. We can enjoy natural beauty in many parks and gardens. Even the markets in a big city are better than
fairs and exhibitions in small towns. In the life of a town, the traveling service is magnificent and comfortable. The roads of the city are proper
metalled for moving the vehicles. There is not any problem of running as compare to the village. There is the bus and train facility for
traveling, which is cheap as compare to another vehicle. Metro buses and Orange Train are its common examples.

In every house, the electricity and pipelines have connected in the life of the city. It supplies the clean water service, which is
necessary for the existence in the city. Moreover, filter plants have been installed in every locality. This sort of facility is absent in cities. The city
facilitates the drainage system for the wastage water. This service also provides the cleanliness on the roads. It also saves from the diseases.
There are the much cleanliness and sanitation in the city life. It is the high authority to look sanitation, which is more important for clean to the
city. However, it is limited to certain cities like Lahore where Lahore Waste Management is working.

The city life provides the excellent medical service. There are the many big health centers for ailing to the people. No one needs to go
far in the emergencies in the city life, all faculties available in the nearby places. There are also the qualified doctors for attending the patient.
The presence of more avenues of employment is the most important advantage in a big city. People of different qualifications can
get employment according to their taste, ability and aptitude. There are many other advantages of city life. People there are refined and
cultured. We can find people from every corner of our country. People from foreign countries with different natures, different ways of living
and cultures can be seen there. We mix with them and our mind is broadened and our outlook is enlarged.
The presence of homogenized culture develops democratic outlook in the people. It also brings cultural coexistence and harmony in
the society. As a result, true democracy flourishes. The people of cities are away from prejudice and enmity. City life provides
commercialization, banking systems, and entrepreneurial businesses. These areas provide better opportunities for the entrants besides
providing ample atmosphere for expansion and conduction of business since consumers are higher in numbers.
Village life usually includes a close community of families that all know each other. Living in a small town can create a lack of
privacy, as neighbors often know what is going on each other's lives. In the city, there is more anonymity. THERE IS NO SOLITUDE IN THE
WORLD LIKE THAT OF THE BIG CITY. In cities people live in apartments, lofts and townhouses that are built with privacy in mind. Windows
are usually supplied with privacy shades and people lock their doors when they aren't home. Just like dining, shopping in the city
presents a range of options. We can find the classic, larger brand stores to smaller, artisan craft shops all within a relatively small radius.
Clothing options can be found at stores.
In the modern days, the rural area is developing by their many programs, which have been taken up in right earnest. The
advantages of the life of a city are far greater than the rural areas, which is more encouraged. MAN'S COURSE BEGINS IN A GARDEN, BUT IT
ENDS IN A CITY.

DIGNITY OF LABOUR
MAN GETS FOR WHAT HE STRIVES: AL-QURAN. Labour has got lot of importance in the world. It has caused all big mansions,
grand high ways and large mills and factories. They are fruit of the man‘s labour. This is a real world where man‘s success goes through
the road of continuous struggle and labour. Miracles don‘t happen in the systematic scheme of this universe. If the stars and planets are
held in the universe, they are kept with certain gravitational and magnetic force. God Himself asserts the dignity of labour and work by
saying that HE HAS CREATED THIS UNIVERSE IN SIX DAYS AND SIX NIGHTS. Thus labour is the greatest reality of the world. If there had
been no labour, we would have lived in desert.
Allah Almighty sends everyone in this world with two hands. God has created a hidden desire to serve others and himself. Man
earns his own livelihood with these two hands. God expects everyone to work hard because God asserts the dignity of labour in the Holy
Quran, ―HE REMAINS BUSY IN DOING SOMETHING DAILY‖ Those who love it rise in life; but those who despise labour remain static and
lag behind to shed tears. A laborious man is honest and persevering. He lives a hard life and earns very little money. He can face any man
and doesn‘t get afraid. It makes him self-reliant, self-sufficient and confident. Labour keeps man‘s abilities alive and accomplished. Man‘s
potential grows when he does manual labour. It keeps man healthy and active.
A laborious person gives something to others rather taking from others. THE UPPER HAND THAT GIVES IS BETTER THAN THE
LOWER HAND THAT TAKES‖ HADITH . A laborous person may not be rich and he may be forced to struggle each day to survive but he
believes in human dignity and considers that EVERY DAY IS A NEW DAY. He is a real hero in the battle of life. He has contentment and
satisfaction life.
ABRAHAM LINCOLN, THE FAMOUS U.S. PRESIDENT, COMMENTED THAT IF GOD DID NOT WANT US TO WORK, HE WOULD HAVE
GIVEN US NO HANDS. There is the need of toil and sweat to meet our challenges and get our goals. Man can materialize his dreams only
with labour because there is no royal road to success. We would have no food, if farmers did not work hard in the sun and in shower. We
would have had no houses, if construction workers had not carried heavy loads to raise the buildings.
A student expects a good result in the examination only if he burns the mid night oil. A farmer hopes for his brighter days if
her toils at his farms. The stay of man in the world is running in the light of certain principles. It is well planned and well managed. Fate is
blind and man can‘t foresee what is going to happen. He works and waits for the results. A wise man undermines the reality of labour
because A WISE MAN WILL MAKE MORE OPPORTUNITIES THAN HE FINDS. FRANCIS BACON. He has innate instinct that he expects only
if he works. The universal and everlasting message of Islam has emphasized the dignity of labour. We can take the example of the Holy
Prophet (SAW) who loved doing work with his blessed hands. After him, four pious Khalifas, Imams and saints followed his foot prints.
They liked to work for themselves and for others. They followed the footprints of the Holy Prophet (SAW) because the Holy Prophet (SAW)
said ―A LABOURER IS THE FRIEND OF GOD‖.
It is evident that only working man and woman are dear to God. Man should earn his or her living by honest means. He should
not feel ashamed to perform little tasks. We can do a lot of ordinary things like helping mother in the kitchen, dusting the house, fetching
groceries, or helping father. We shouldn‘t hate to keep the class neat and tidy, or to plant a sapling. A MAN MUST MAKE HIS
OPPORTUNITY AS OFT AS FIND IT. BACON There is a misperception in our society about the labour. People consider it a menial work.
They feel ashamed in doing work with their own hands.
Those who get into the habit of working hard, find an enjoyable affair. The progress of a country also depends on the skilled
hands of its people. Quaid-e-Azam's parting advice to the nation deserves full attention. "GOD HAS GIVEN YOU A VAST TERRITORY
WITH VAST RESOURCES. NOW IT IS UP TO YOU TO MAKE AN OPTIMUM USE OF THE RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO YOU." The labouring
classes are the backbone of every society and country. No country can deny the value and importance of the labouring classes both in the
industrial and agricultural fields. In fact, the labourers run industries by doing hard and useful work. In the agricultural field too. the
labourers do all the work. In fact, the labourers build up the economy of country.
The Muslims ignore basic ideology of Islam. There are many instances when our beloved Prophet set its examples. He mended
his own clothes and repaired shoes. He tied two stones to his stomach while entrenching during the battle of AHZAB. He wanted to stop his
hunger. He didn‘t complain and helped his companions in that arduous task. The beloved of God and the soul of the universe (SAW) could
pray for anything he wanted but he had to show his followers a living example that without labour, man is unable to get his targets. He
stressed dignified position for the poor and labourers. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said: ―YOUR SERVANTS ARE YOUR BROTHERS WHOM
ALLAH HAS MADE YOUR SUBORDINATE, THE BELIEVER SHOULD GIVE THEM TO EAT FOR WHAT HE HIMSELF EATS AND WEAR FOR
WHAT HE HIMSELF WEARS AND DO NOT PUT ON THEM BURDEN OF ANY LABOUR WHICH MAY EXHAUST THEM.
The ‗King‘ of Arabia, and in fact of the entire universe used to kindle a fire, sweep the floor, milk goats, patch his clothes,
mend his shoes and help in household chores. That is why Carlyle regarded him as ―THE GREATEST MAN‖ and yet the ―GREATEST
WORKER‖ of the world. One may think that it is an example of past and it is not possible in present era. It is interesting that the people do
not feel shame in doing work with their own hands in the advanced countries. That‘s why they are on the road of prosperity and progress.
WITHOUT LABOR NOTHING PROSPERS. SOPHOCLES
They work in offices and factories and even the women do so. They know, ―LABOUR IS THE ONLY PRAYER THAT NATURE
ANSWERS.‖ On contrary to it, the Muslims don‘t follow the golden principles of Islam. They forget that the Prophet SAW entered his home
and found people preparing food, he at once began to help them by kneading flour or doing other sundry jobs. He asked his neighbours if
they needed his help in their work. A number of old women of the locality used to get this service regularly from the Prophet (SAW). He
stressed ―NEVER HAS ANY ONE EATEN A BETTER FOOD THAN WHAT HE HAS EATEN OUT OF THE LABOUR OF HIS OWN HANDS‖
It cannot he denied that it was the teaching of IsIam that exercised considerable influence on the minds of the thinkers of the
West and men like Martin Luther, Goethe, Voltaire and Rousseau and Carlyle. Carlyle found Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) as the hero
among Prophets and underlined the fact that ―WORK AND WORK ALONE IS NOBLE.‖ The passage of success goes through difficulties and
troubles. When we go through the life history of great people who changed the streams of the world history, we come to know that they
did nothing but toil because ―THE GREATEST USE OF LIFE IS TO SPEND IT FOR SOMETHING THAT OUTLAST IT‖ William James.
We can take the example of Ibrahim Lincoln. He was a son of a woodcutter. He worked at length and became the president
of America. When we consider the example of Quid e Azam, he didn‘t get success overnight. His life is characterized by laborious
commitment, labour and resolution. It was Martin Luther king, a depraved black American, who fought for the freedom of his black
fellow men and got their rights. We can see Bill Gates who a common software programmer but became a giant in the world of software
due to labour. Certainly, it is well said, ―NO GREAT ACHIEVEMENT IS POSSIBLE WITHOUT PERSISTENT WORK.‖ BERTRAND RUSSELL
All these examples give us the message of dignity of labour which makes us confident and self dependent. It increases our ego
and self respect. It makes us real human beings who believe, ―OUR GREAT GLORY ISN‘T IN NEVER FALLING, BUT IN RISING EVERY TIME
WE FALL.‖ Confuses

MY AIM IN LIFE

An aim in life is the only fortune worth finding. This life is a challenge and test for man. He has to go through it. The glory of life lies
in constant struggle and continuous effort. He plans to make his life beautiful and successful. God has endowed man with intellect and
reasoning. He has ability to change the stream of his life. It is the principle of this world, ―Great trial great success.‖ He has to maneuver his life.
Life is not a bed of roses. It is a bed of thorns. He has to face calamities and catastrophes at every step. There is no royal road to success. His life
is not like that of animals, which is aimless.

Many people have no definite aim in their life. They are like the travelers going ahead without any destination. When a man does
not know what harbor he is making for, no wind is right wind. An aimless life is like an unbridled camel. The aimless person is driven and
bridled by chances and circumstances. He has no aim to change the stream of life. If there were dreams to sell, Merry and sad to tell, What
would you buy?"
Aim is very important in life. It gives us a road map to success. Aim determines our directions and systemizes our energies. It
strengthens and inspires us. It is a great stimulus for our action. An ambition is an incentive to a person to work hard and to achieve success in
life. Robert Browning, a famous poet, says, "The aim, if reached or not, makes great the life". It determines the course of life. It is a guiding
star. Without aim, it is like a desert where no flower blooms. C.S Lewis says, ―Aim at heaven and you will get the earth thrown. Aim at earth,
and you get neither.‖

Aim of life varies from person to person. There are as many aims as men. Some aim at wealth, some at power, some at fame, some at
business and some at education and knowledge some at serving humanity. Thus some people want to be engineers, doctors, lawyers,
politicians, business men, poets, novelists and social activists to materialize their dreams. But my aim is much different. My aim is neither
wealth nor fame.

I wish to serve my country with best of my talent. So, I want to be a professor of English. "Teachers effect eternity; no one can tell
where their influence stops". There are many reasons for my choice. The best people are those who teach others, who enlighten others‘ abilities
and who launch a crusade against ignorance. They are the real heroes of the world. They change the minds of the youth of any nation. They
determine the destiny of a nation. The greatest man of this world, our beloved Prophet (SAAW) also proclaimed himself a teacher. Though he
did many other jobs like trade, he associated himself with teaching. According to him, ―Obviously, I have been appointed a teacher.‖ Teaching
is a very noble profession. Nearly 70% of the Pakistanis are illiterate. I want to educate my countrymen. I really feel that I can serve my
fellowmen by becoming a teacher.

The teachers of our country are ill paid yet. It is one of the noblest professions. This profession will enable me to translate into my life
the Holly Prophet's (PBUH) principle of simple living and high thinking. A teacher is the real friend, philosopher and guide of students. He
serves the cause of education. According to Plato, "Education is the turning of the inner eye towards light". A teacher removes ignorance from
the minds of his students. He lightens up the inner and outer of his students. I want to follow the same principles of great teachers of the named
as Hazrat Muhammad (SAAW), Socrates, Plato and Aristotle who worked throughout their life. I believe that the teachers, individually and
collectively, have the ability to change the world.

It is true that a teacher is full of high thoughts and ideals. I realize that if we are able to remove ignorance, illiteracy and
superstitions from our country, we can develop it into a great country. I shall not only teach my students the theoretical education but I would
also try my best to develop their character because a teacher lays the foundation of a nation. "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the
lighting of a fire". I want children to learn in a friendly and comfortable environment so that their creative abilities will be aroused in them. It
is the best way to contribute to our society. "Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions".

Teaching has been profession of prophets, priests, saints and moralist. I have got a temperament and taste for teaching. As a good
mother rears good children a teacher builds up a good nation. Allah sent our beloved prophet Hazrat Muhammad ‗Sall Allahu Alay hi
Wasallam‘ to this world for the whole humanity. An engineer builds grand buildings, roads and dams, a doctor treats patients, a civil officer
runs the administration, a military officer defends the country, but it is their teachers who make them so. A teacher is an engineer maker, a
doctor maker, and an officer maker. I hope I can serve my people by becoming an ideal teacher.

Teachers are the custodians of the highest value". I shall produce able citizens who are responsible and do their duty to the country
honestly. This will be the greatest prize for a true and ideal teacher. I shall do my best to inculcate the sentiments of humanity, respect,
tolerance and liberal outlook in my students. To achieve my ambition I work day and night. I devote all my time to study English language
and literature. ―A man or woman without an ambition is really unfortunate man.‖

Whatever others may think of my aim, I am satisfied with it. I can infuse my ideas to my students, which are termed as religious
tolerance and acceptance of contradictory ideas. In this way, I want to make this world a safe haven for humanity. I will set high goals as a
teacher and do my best to show each and every student that these goals are within their reach. This aim of mine will drive me through thick
and thin towards my goal. ―Ambition makes a man energetic and active.‖

Teaching of English has special flavor for me due to many reasons. English is the language that is spoken and understood by most of
the people in the world and it is the Lingua Franca of the world. Books on modern science, philosophy, history, commerce medicine, technology
and other subjects are mostly in English. English language has universal use and appeals as a language of science and technology. Developing
and poor countries cannot afford to conduct independent research in all the important fields of science such as agriculture, industry health and
communications etc. By getting benefit from the huge source of knowledge in English, it becomes imperative to understand and teach English. I
want to transmit knowledge on two levels. I shall teach them English to learn a massive treatise of knowledge as well as I shall translate these
works to make them easy for the country men.

English is widely used in the world. It is the medium of communication in the whole world. Through English teaching, I shall enable
the youth of my nation to, ―Hitch your wagon to a star. Emerson.‖ English literature is a rich and versatile literature. It entails the variety of
literary and social subjects. It is the source of delight. As it is well said, ―Language is the light of mind.‖ I intend to entertain myself as well as
my students through English Literature. It is also a source of information. The downfall and rise of different kings and social values take place
before our eyes. This account of past always gives us a lesson as well as entertainment. Thus English teaching will make me able to inculcate my
spirit in my students.

English literature is old and rich literature which entails the history of twelve hundred years. It has the texture of indigenous and
foreign places. It is replete with rise and fall of kings and queens and social changes taking place over time. It is not only an historical record
but also a treatise of entertainment. It takes me into dreamy world of romance and pleasure where I find myself in the paradise of my dreams.
Storm, blow me from here……With your fiercest wind….Let me float across the sky……'Til I can rest again. Thus becoming the teacher of English
will help me get all these luxuries and entertainments.
Besides this, I want to propagate the delicate and liberal outlook of Islam to the non-believers through the medium of this language.
The translation of the Holy Quran into English will be another milestone in my career. It will help me in the propagation of universal ideas of
the Holy Quran. Moreover, it can be concluded that aim is the real force of life. It is a torch that takes man through the glades of darkness. ―If
you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.‖ Albert Einstein. Moreover, Wordsworth says, ―A noble aim is the noble
deed.‖

MY HERO IN HISTORY
According to Merriam Webster dictionary, a hero is, ― a mythical or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great
strength and ability. Human history is replete with the deeds of great men. As Thomas Carlyle says, ―History is nothing but the biography of
the great man.‖ He changes the stream of nations. The nations have to wait for him for many ages to come. He changes the destiny of a down-
trodden nation with his God-gifted talent and great potential. The lives of heroes inspire us a lot and urge us to do good deeds at our own. ―The
lives of great men all remind us, we can make our lives sublime, and departing, leave behind us, foot prints on the sand of time‖
A hero is a man of great character. He has great courage and bravery and faces every challenge valiantly. He stands by his people at
the time of difficulty and trials. He has leadership qualities and a great decisive power. He believes in the dignity of humanity and strives for
its elegance because God has bestowed immortality to it. He serves humanity which is the best creation of the world as Allah Almighty asserts,
―we created man in his best form.‖ There are many great people whose biographies are inspiring for the thousands of people. They have done
their services in different aspects of life. ―Great men never go with stream, but they force stream to go with them.‖ The concept of heroism is
very old. It had started since the beginning of human history. Islamic and the world history is full of heroes. But my hero in history is the
greatest man in the world. ―Muhammad is the greatest man that history ever knew‖ ― Gustave Le Bon
I like Hazrat Muhammad (SAAW) who is the greatest reformer of the world. He is the personality who revitalized the inherent
goodness of those people who were strayed. Michael H. Hart, says in his book, ―The 100 - a Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History‖,
―My choice of Muhammad (PBUH) to lead the list of the world‘s most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by
others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels.‖
This was the personality and character of our beloved Prophet (SAAW) that surpassed all other personalities of the world. He came
into this world at the time when the Arabs were indulged in extreme ignorance, deterioration of morality and association of partners with
Allah. They were brutes who killed their daughters ruthlessly and knew no morality. The whole society was indulged into vices and wrong
doings.
The political, economic and cultural condition was very pathetic. There was no political system at all. The society was divided into
clans. The tribal conflicts were very common. The morality of the society was shattered. ―In Mohammed's Arabia there was no state – there
were only scattered independent tribes and towns. The Prophet formed his own state, and he gave it a sacred law prescribed by Allah. Herbert
J. Muller. The economic condition was very poor. The economy of Arabia was in the hands of the Jews. They were the best farmers. Slavery was
the economic institution.
The only law was the law of jungle in which everything was decided by power and force. Justice was absent. Every matter was
decided by tribal chieftain. Warfare was very common. The people were uneducated. They buried their daughters alive in the fear of their
burden and dependence on men of the family. The picture of the Arabs is drawn as, ―In the century before the rise of Islam the tribes dissipated
all their energies in tribal guerrilla fighting, all against all, ‖ by G. E. Grunebaum. They had degraded the dignity of man. They bowed their
heads before the Goddesses Al-Uzza, Al-Lat and Menat who formed a triad in pre-Islamic Arabia.
Then God did mercy on the people of Arabia and blessed them the Holy Prophet (SAAW) who was born in 570 A.D in Makkah. He
had an unparalleled spiritual and physical beauty and magnificence. He is second to none in either past or future. The middle-statured, Holy
Prophet (SAAW) was brought up by his grandfather and then his uncle Abu Talib. He changed the stream of history. While living in the corrupt
and wayward Arabia, he remained exemplary in character in his boyhood. He was helping to everyone. He went through all the evils of the
contemporary society. He had ideal morals and was renowned as Sadiq (the truthful) and Amin (the honest) even to his worst enemies and this
was all before prophet-hood. He faced every sort of opposition with patience and service. He even didn‘t complain to the woman who threw
garbage on the Holy Prophet (SAAW)
He changed the fate of the Arabia and the world. He gave the golden principles of respect for humanity, which became the
foundation of modern civilized world. He invoked the modern trends in the world, which are claimed by the west. The scientific spirit and
critical inquiry is another essence of his teachings. His critical inquiry laid the foundation of modern science, an enhancement of theoretical
science of the Greek. He solved the problems of the world and humanity. Humanity is indebted to the Holy Prophet (SAAW). The Holy Quran
says him, ―And We have sent you not except as a mercy for all the worlds. (21:107)‖
At the age of forty, during his daily meditation in Cave of Hira, he received first revelation from Allah Almighty through the angel
Gabriel (A.S.). ―Read, in the name of thy Lord who created. He created man from a clot of blood .‖ He began to preach Islam and proclaimed
himself as prophet and messenger of Allah. He presented his character as a testimony of his prophet hood. His youth had been respectful, pious,
humanitarian and exemplary. He helped the poor and weak and settled the issues of the society even before prophet hood.
When he started preaching, the Makkans turned against him. He and his companions were forced to migrate to Madina, at that
time known as Yathrib when the Makkans turned against him. He was readily accepted there and he started a true Islamic society there. This
society was based on the golden principles of brotherhood and human values. ―The Message of Mohammad is not a set of metaphysical
phenomena. It is a complete civilization.‖ ― W.A.R. Gibb
The UNO charter of human rights has been derived from golden Islamic principles. All the time, he remained patient and kind to
other human beings. He earned a unique victory of Makkah in which there was not a single slaying.
Prophet Muhammad followed the laws of God, advised Muslims to believe in one God and helped them lift themselves up morally,
culturally and spiritually. He enforced the commands of the Holy Qur'an and continued to remind and advise his companions and other
believers throughout the Muslim world about these commands. He instructed a sense of value, teaching right from the wrong, giving glad
tidings for good deeds and warning about punishment for committing sins, continuing to remind them about improving their lives in this world
in order to gain a better life in the afterlife. The books of Hadiths are full of reminders and directions for the entire mankind. ―The word of
Mohammad is a voice direct from nature's own heart - all else is wind in comparison.‖ ― Thomas Carlyle
After the Hajja-tul-Wida‘, he left the world, leaving the Muslims bereaved and mournful. He was buried in the Mosque of the
Prophet. He gave human beings their life as a way to follow and Quran as a source of inspiration and guidance. ―And hold fast, all of you
together, to the rope of Allah (i.e. this Qur'an), and be not divided among yourselves .‖
This short essay is just a glimpse of his life and achievements. It is quite insufficient to describe our beloved Holy Prophet (SAAW) who
was at one and the same time a teacher, diplomat, merchant, philosopher, orator, legislator, reformer, military general, and The Last and
Final Prophet of Allah. He was perfect in every regard. He had two aspects of his personality; physical and spiritual. As for as the spiritual
aspect is concerned, the poet pays tribute as, ―Baad Az Khuda Buzurg Tu-ee, Kissa Mukhtasar.‖
The holy Quran says, ―And exalted for you your Zikr (remembrance) (94:4)‖. He was perfect human being in all the respects. He was
a perfect warrior, companion, father, leader, teacher and etc. It was his true spiritual character that Islam spread through Africa, Europe,
Near, Middle and Far East, and South Asia in no time. He preached and practised freedom of speech, equality, justice, knowledge, free
enquiry, humanitarian values and fair dealings. He didn‘t only focus on the verbal deliverance of the message of compassion, brotherhood and
honesty rather he presented practical illustration of the all his teachings.
―Our Prophet was a radical too - he fought against the injustices of his community and challenged the feudal order of his society, so they called
him a radical. So what? We should be proud of that!‖ Abu Bakar Bashir, Indonesian reformist.

MY HOBBY

It is a well said: ―An empty mind is a devil‘s workshop‖ Today, man lives in a world where struggle and effort is necessary for his
survival. He has to toil from dawn to dusk. Physical and mental labour leaves him tired and exhausted after the whole day's work. The
constant toil makes human life colourless and monotonous. It also rusts his talent and efficiencies. He needs some pleasant activity to alleviate
his burden of mind and physique. He needs leisure and idle hours to relieve his feelings and troubled soul.
The barrenness of the soul caused by busyness of modern life is described by W.H Davies as, ―What is this life if, full of care, we have
no time to stand and stare?‖
Man lives a life of boredom and monotony. The material pursuits in his life have made his life colorless. Man finds a little time in the
busy canvas of routine in this world. Hobby is the leisure time activity which relieves us from all the boring routine of this life. Every one finds
some activity to pass his time when he has nothing to do. Hobby is something which we enjoy doing. We like to indulge ourselves in the activity
during free time. All we have our likes and dislike. Hobby doesn‘t aim at earning. Thus, it is more fulfilling and gives us more satisfaction and
joy.
As we know that All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, having a hobby increases our efficiency, interest and ability. It gives
an opportunity of the development of one's various aspects of personality. A hobby a day keeps the doldrums away. Phyllis McGinley
Hobbies like collecting stamps, listening music, drawing, gardening, playing an indoor or outdoor sport, writing, reading, internet
surfing, collecting antiques, photography etc, are very useful. They enrich our knowledge and make us aware of the surrounding world. We
learn many things with practical insights which we cannot learn from books. We get the firsthand knowledge of countries, cultures, nature and
deep insight of human psychology.
This occupation is quite apart from the regular professions. It is pursued only for recreation. After day‘s hard labour, a hobby
provides us a cheap source of entertainment and amusement. It makes an easy way to follow God‘s sunnah, ―God remains busy in something
daily‖.
Francis Bacon in his essay "of Garden" says: ―God Almighty first planted a garden. And, indeed, it is the purest of human pleasure.‖
Thus this hobby of mine is an ultimate source of joy and pleasure for me. I want to relax after a day's hard work. Gardening makes me forget
my worries and refreshes my mind. It refreshes both my body and soul. It breathes new life into my tired body. Therefore, it is a blessed activity
for both my body and brain.
For this purpose, I have made a very beautiful lawn in front of my house. ―From the gardens of plants do I move towards the gardens
of inner joy. The flowers dance on leaves. And ideas dance on heart beats and mind.‖ In the garden, I have planted mango, orange, guava and
banana trees. There, I grow flowers of various kinds like rose, lily and sunflower. The sweet fragrance of flowers gives me a great pleasure. They
present a colourful and vivid scene and spread a sweet odor all around.
There is always something fresh before my eyes. It keeps me healthy, happy and fresh for the day's labour. Luther Burbank says:
―Flowers always make people better, happier and more helpful.‖ Green fruit trees and lush grassy lawn add colours to the surroundings.
I find the mystery of nature everywhere. It has very pleasant effect on me. One touch of nature makes the whole world kin. It
reminds me the beautiful Creator of this beauty. Everywhere I find the manifestation of Allah Almighty and keep the presence of God in my
heart. I talk to the flowers and trees of my garden. They are just living characters which I have reared with my own hands. Their greenery and
beauty have everlasting appeal to my mind. The beautiful verse of John Keats is: ―Ah, happy happy bough that cannot shed your leaves, nor
ever bid the spring adieu.‖
A little fountain has been built in the heart of the lawn. When it sprinkles, its light showers and it looks fascinating. Then the water of
the fountain flows to the beds of flowers and trees. Briefly speaking, the lawn and the garden of my house are so attractive that they are the
convincing proof of my devotion and dedication to my hobby.
Moreover, I also contribute to the atmosphere of my homeland. Pakistan has a little vegetation. The abundance of poisonous gases in
the air causes many physical and mental complications. With the help of my garden, I partake to make the environment clean and pleasant.
This garden of mine provides me fresh air into my lungs and makes me healthy.
The department of forestry often propagates a slogan, ―Grow the plants in the soil, it is ordained in Islam‖. It inspires me a lot. It
persuades me to enlarge my garden.
Robert Brooke said: ―And in my flowers beds, I think smile the carnation and the pink.‖ There is adequate growth of vegetables in
the compound of the house. Therefore, we seldom purchase any vegetables from bazaar.
I have the tools of the garden. I have to do a lot of work with my hand. I prepare the land and manure it. I water my plants regularly and
protect from the extreme weather. I have prepared many beds in it. Douglas says: ―Earth is here so kind that just tickle her with a hoe and she
laughs with a harvest.‖
Gardening is my passion. It inspires me to do something new. With every new flower, there is a new happiness. I keenly observe the
process of growth and decay in nature and praise the majesty of God. My hobby, gardening keeps me in touch with nature and God. Therefore
hobby is interesting pursuit through which a person derives pleasure, recreation and amusement in his leisure. My hobby reveals me of the
monotony and melancholy of mind! Come forth into the light of things; let Nature be your teacher. William Wordsworth
Every day after 1 return from my college and have my lunch, I rush to the garden to do a little digging and watering the plants. I also
regularly add manure and other medicines for protection and better flowering. During autumn I have to clean the garden daily because of the
number of dry leaves shed. Otherwise, I clean it only twice a week. Grass grows very quickly during the rainy seasons, so one has to mow it
regularly.
Moreover, it keeps me fit and healthy. I don‘t need to have morning walk and some exercises to keep me healthy. My rearing of the
garden is enough exercise for me to keep me energetic and dynamic even in other affairs of life. To study in the shade of trees of my garden is
soothing and refreshing for me. I find the trees my kids who always watch my presence in the garden. It is pleasant to be amongst their
company.
Numerous studies have been undertaken which show that gardening offers many health related benefits. The most obvious benefit
of gardening is that it can be a great way to relieve stress. The day‘s routine causes stress. But gardening relieves my academic and personal
stress.
Gardening is a good hobby. I really enjoy it. When others appreciate and admire our garden I feel very proud of my efforts. It is a
great joy to behold the small garden in full bloom. A Thing of Beauty is a Joy Forever. A thing of beauty is a joy for ever: Its loveliness increases;
it will never. Keats. It is not so expensive also and increases the beauty of my home. Gardening also keeps me fit and healthy. I really enjoy
gardening. The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies. Gertrude Jekyll.

MY LAST DAY AT COLLEGE

"WE LOOK BEFORE AND AFTER, ………..AND PINE FOR WHAT IS NOT: ……..OUR SINCEREST LAUGHTER …..WITH SOME PAIN IS
FRAUGHT; …..OUR SWEETEST SONGS ARE THOSE THAT TELL OF SADDEST THOUGHT)‖ P.B SHELLEY
A college is a fountain of knowledge where students come to quench their thirst for knowledge. It is the crucial time of one‘s life
particularly in our country. Students have to determine the stream of their life whether it would be a rose or a thorn. THE THINGS TAUGHT IN
SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES ARE NOT AN EDUCATION, BUT THE MEANS TO AN EDUCATION.
RALPH WALDO EMERSON. Thus, the college life has many sweet and painful memories in the memory attics of students. There is hardly any
living being who has not gone through ups and downs of life. Actually life is the blend of horrible as well as sweet incidents. Some of them may
be forgotten, whereas others leave an ever lasting imprint on the mind. We enjoy them in our imaginations because ‗HEARD MELODIES ARE
SWEET BUT THOSE UNHEARD ARE SWEETER. JOHN KEATS‘.
One can never forget one‘s alma mater. It remains as fresh as a blooming flower in human memory. THINGS REMAIN NEVER BUT
MEMORIES LAST FOREVER. A college is a place where young generation of a nation sees dreams of golden future. Some young boys and girls
work hard to materialize these dreams. COLLEGE IS LIKE A FOUNTAIN OF KNOWLEDGE – AND THE STUDENTS ARE THERE TO DRINK.
MARTIAN LUTHER KING. In every case, a college student develops an emotional and close association with college. He loves and likes
everything of it. All students become a family in college. They do not like to separate from one another.

But a day comes when they have to leave a college and everything about it. It is the time of real sadness for them. It is very sad
moment to go through but life continues in spite of it. ―THE PAST BEATS INSIDE ME LIKE A SECOND HEART.‖ JOHN BANVILLE . In our college
there was a tradition that the junior students gave a farewell party to the senior outgoing students after the tiresome session of internal
assessment exam. In this way, in our College, every year, the students of XI Class gave a farewell party to the XII Class students who were
departing for their Board examination.
Parting is always sad and pensive in man‘s life. Thus the last day in the college is a memorable occasion for the students who
are leaving. ―REMEMBERING IS EASY. IT'S FORGETTING THAT'S HARD.‖. But at the same time, it is full of hopes, because they are now going to
achieve their mission for which they joined the college years ago. THE AIM OF A COLLEGE EDUCATION IS TO TEACH YOU TO KNOW A GOOD
MAN WHEN YOU SEE ONE. WILLIAM JAMES. I also remember my last day at my college. It was a pleasant day of March. The blazing summer
had yet to start. The weather was cool and pleasant due to the rain one day before. Everything looked washed and eye catching. When I
remember the day, the feelings of sadness and bliss overwhelm me. I feel strange at that situation. ―MEMORY IS TREASURY AND GAURDIAN
OF ALL THE THINGS‖ On my last day at college, I reached college at 09:00 a.m. to attend the farewell party that our juniors had arranged for
us. The students had beautifully decorated the college with buntings and balloons. There were many banners and flexes with different slogans
and quotes. There were welcome notes on some banners. It was a delightful sight.

I went to the auditorium where all my friends and fellow students had gathered. It was for the first time that students were not in
their uniforms. I was happy that I had availed myself of college opportunity successfully. However, I was also sad because I was going to leave
Alma matter that I valued highly. ―FRIENDS DEPART, AND MEMORY TAKES THEM………TO HER CAVERNS, PURE AND DEEP‖ THOMAS HYNES

As the principal entered the auditorium, all the students and teachers rose from their chairs to welcome him. The ceremony started
with the recitation of the verses from the Holy Quran. A junior student paid homage to the beloved Prophet (SAW) in his melodious voice. Then
one of our juniors made the farewell speech. The speech manifested the feelings of respect for us. He appreciated the guidance we had given to
our juniors. The speaker ended his speech with the best wishes for our prosperous and bright future. Then it came the entertainment
performances by our juniors. They also sang some beautiful songs. I remembered the time when we, the seniors, used to occupy the stage, but
that day we were guests and our juniors were our hosts. This is the reality of world when past generation is replaced with the new one. LIFE
MUST BE A PREPARATION FOR THE TRANSITION TO ANOTHER DIMENSION. TERENCE

As being the representative of the outgoing class, I was called to the stage to express my feelings. I recited a poem that I had written
for this occasion. In the poem, I paid tribute to the worthy professors who had enlightened us and infused in us a thirst for knowledge. I also
thanked the principal and our juniors for all they had said about us. Then the principal made his goodbye speech. He gave some valuable
pieces of advice and wished a continued success for our future. He stressed the importance of education by saying, ―EDUCATION IS THE BEST
PROVISION FOR LIFE'S JOURNEY." –ARISTOTLE. He promised to render his wise and experienced counseling to us even after leaving college.
He advised us that‖ PURPOSE OF LIFE IS TO LIVE A LIFE OF PURPOSE .AS LONG AS YOU LIVE, KEEP LEARNING HOW TO LIVE―. The principal
shared his own experience of life and told us that we should focus on our future. He also asserted to forget past and plan life in the light of
coming time. He said, ―NOBODY GETS TO LIVE LIFE BACKWARD. LOOK A HEAD, THAT IS WHERE FUTURE LIES.‖
At the end of the ceremony, we enjoyed high tea with the principal, professors and the juniors. We had video cameras with us and we
were capturing these precious moments not only in our cameras but also in our hearts. We also took autographs from the principal and our
dear teachers. These were the token of love and remembrance. Then came the time to leave forever. Our hearts were heavy with mixed
feelings. ―FAREWELL MY FRIENDS, FAREWELL MY FOES, MY LOVE WITH THESE, MY CARE FOR THOSE.‖ Then, we planned to meet all our
teachers personally. We obtained their autographs in our diaries.

After this, we had a round of the college to see every nook and corner of it. I went to the college common room where there was a lot
of hue and cry. There was the provision of indoor games, newspapers and periodicals. Nothing had changed except the students. All the faces
were stranger and unknown. The students were playing games, reading newspapers and enjoying gossiping. ―LIFE IN A COLLEGE IS MORE
FUN THAN A SERIOUS EFFORT TO GET EDUCATION‖ then I went to the college library. I was as peaceful and serene as it had been. I flashed all
the time passed in the library and my friendship with books. I was downhearted at the spectacle. The books on various subjects were lying
before me. I remembered when I often delved into them to find the light of knowledge and wisdom. ―A COLLEGE IS A LIGHTHOUSE WHICH
OMITS RADIATONS OF KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM‖.

Then we met our Vice Principal who gave us our character certificates. We also met our Principal who advised us to be honest and
hard working in life. In the evening, we went to our college hostel, packed our luggage and got ready to go to our homes. It was the time to bid
good bye to one another. We embraced one another for the last time. Some of us could not control themselves and began to weep bitterly.
Finally, we departed with the hope that we would meet again somewhere someday. This is how I spent my last day at college. It haunts me
whenever I think about it. It also gives me a lesson that life is transitory. GREAT ASSET IS GLORIOUS PAST. IT URGES MAN TO WORK HARD.

SCIENCE AS BONE OR BANE, IMPORTANCE OF SCIENCE, HARMS OF SCIENCE

Nothing is bad or good in itself but its use makes it so. Shakespeare says, ―THERE IS NOTHING EITHER GOOD OR BAD.‖ Similarly, we
can say that science is neither good nor bad rather its application is decisive. It can be used either to facilitate humanity or destroy it. As Milton
says in his famous poetic creation, Paradise Lost, ―THE MIND IN ITS OWN PLACE AND IN ITSELF CAN MAKE A HEAVEN OF HELL AND A HELL
OF HEAVEN‖ . The days are the matter of past when man used to be scared of the natural forces like thunder, storm and lightning and lived in
caves. He used to worship every phenomenon of nature like sky, earth, trees, air, the sun and the moon that he couldn‘t understand. Man even
worshipped animals. He dressed himself in skins and leaves. He fed himself by hunting and fishing. He had to make with his own hands
everything he needed. He covered long distances on his own legs. His world was narrow, dark, difficult and dangerous. He was superstitious
and get afraid of the things that are made for man. It was because man could not understand the natural phenomena. SCIENCE IS A
BEAUTIFUL GIFT TO HUMANITY; WE SHOULD NOT DISTORT IT.
He was dependent on nature. Today, the moon and other objects don‘t fill man with fear. How this tremendous change has come
about? Was this change sudden or it took time? What was the factor of change? The answer of all these questions is only science. Scientific
studies have revolutionized everything. The most important milestone in the history of civilization is the man‘s journey from brutes to civilized
human beings. The social animal who believed in the law of jungle has transformed into a peace loving and kind hearted individual. He has
more become rational and reasoning. Man is well learned as a result of it. Man can get and share a huge treatise of knowledge with the help of
science. It has also increased awareness among people. IN SCIENCE THE IMPORTANT THING IS TO MODIFY AND CHANGE ONE'S IDEAS AS
SCIENCE ADVANCES. CLAUDE BERNARD.
He understands his surroundings rather getting afraid of them. Electricity is one of the many gifts of scientific invention. We can press
a button and brighten the room; switch on the fans for refreshing air. Various kinds of machines are run by electricity. Room-heaters, ovens,
cooking ranges and several other household appliances add up the comforts of our lives. Big industrial units and factories which produce
countless things of our daily use are run on electricity. Advancement in the field of medical sciences has reduced the rate of mortality. Today,
many diseases of the past like cholera, small-pox and even T.B are easily curable with the help of medicines. Surgery can remove tumors and
set the human body right. The discovery of antibiotics and vaccination has made the cure of infectious diseases very easy. Open heart surgery
and treatment of even cancer have become a possibility. The certain diseases like plague, cholera and small-pox can be controlled with the
help of vaccination.
Atomic energy is being used to cure diseases like cancer. Today, we are on the verge of cloning of different species. Even artificial
limbs and organs are available to replace the affected ones. It also can be said that different types of natural deficiencies are corrected by oral
intakes of vitamins and also of minerals. Science has also given eyes to the blind peoples and also ears to the deaf people. Surgery X-rays,
ultrasonic and microscopes also simplified the complications and diagnoses of treatment. THE WHOLE OF SCIENCE IS NOTHING MORE THAN A
REFINEMENT OF EVERYDAY THINKING. ALBERT EINSTEIN The blessings of science can also be seen in the field of transportation. The modern
modes of transportation have destroyed the barriers of time and distance. The invention of engine, cars and buses has made the distance closer.
Human beings can fly in the air. The railway has made the traveling lovers to move throughout the country. Science has even helped man to
travel in space with the invention of rockets and missiles. Man has landed on the moon and some planets. Traveling has become fast, safe and
comfortable.
The communication through phones, mobiles, fax, what‘s-up, viber, face book, messengers and e-mails has made it possible to meet
our dear ones at once at any time. We don‘t feel lonely even when there is no one around. The world has changed into a global village as a
result. It is also a historic gift of science. Today, we have scores of meteorological satellites in outer space sending data, pictures to the earth
stations helping agriculture scientists find and analyze soil patterns. They also help them trace progress of rains, winds and even locusts that
endanger crops. Satellites even forewarn about natural calamities like hurricanes which cause massive destruction.
The world population is increasing rapidly and there has been the fear of scarcity of food to feed such massive population. If the
production of the past had been in use, the world would have been starved to death. The use of fertilizers and pesticides along with hybrid
seeds has increased production. It is the blessing of science that we have become able to get not only better food but also in larger quantity. The
ways of food preservation have enabled us to enjoy food anywhere and anytime. We are well informed about the constituents of the food and
take precautions in the use of appropriate food at the right time.
We can even get fruits and vegetables at odd seasons. Science has provided us with many means of education and entertainment.
The television, video, radio, computer, internet etc. have enabled the human race to enrich its knowledge about various places, persons, birds,
animals etc. we can watch dramas, films, talk shows, documentaries and news updates. They make the company in isolation. Information
technology and computers have revolutionized our life-styles. Automation in banks and railway stations has provided relief to the public and
staff alike. Ticketing and reservation have become more efficient and convenient. PROGRESS IS IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT CHANGE, AND THOSE
WHO CANNOT CHANGE THEIR MINDS CANNOT CHANGE ANYTHING.
The use of nuclear technology is very useful as an alternative to conventional means of energy. It is also used in the medical
profession. For the poor countries like Pakistan, even the nuclear weapons get a blessing as deterrence against the aggression of the hostile
nations like India. Science has developed an attitude of open-mindedness and liberalism. It creates creative and curious thoughts in human
beings. Man has become rational and critical which has provided solid grounds to knowledge and free inquiry. The methods of teaching have
changed with the use of science. Man explores the secrets of mind and tries to find the appropriate methods. The use of audio visual aids and
gadgets like projectors and multimedia has made interactive classes with a lot of learning. SCIENCE IS SIMPLY THE WORD WE USE TO
DESCRIBE A METHOD OF ORGANIZING OUR CURIOSITY.

SCIENCE NEVER SOLVES A PROBLEM WITHOUT CREATING TEN MORE. BERNARD SHAW. Despite all the benefits, science is
destructive in many ways. The weapons of mass destruction have made human future bleak and vulnerable to destruction. A sudden irrational
step can bring destruction to the whole world. John Peter alludes to nuclear attack on Japan in the World War II, ―THE LIVES OF TWO
GLORIES…IN THE MOMENTS OF FURIES‖. The massive expansion of industrialization and transportation has caused the pollution of various
kinds which has endangered human beings as well as other species. The easy access to obscene literature on internet and cyber crimes is the
disadvantages of science. It results many ill practices and crimes. It brings the negative dynamism regarding religion, tradition and culture.
SCIENCE WITHOUT RELIGION IS LAME. EINSTEIN. As a result of scientific progress, man has got away from nature. He has become a machine.
His materialism has made him miserable.
A POOR LIFE THIS IS IF, FULL OF CARE, WE HAVE NO TIME TO STAND AND STARE. Individualism has increased and social
gatherings have reduced. Man suffers various types of stress. The race for material pursuits has made spoiled his aesthetic sense. It has also
deteriorated human relations. The present luxurious and physically inactive life has caused various diseases and complications. The old
practices of harmony and brotherhood have become absent. It has also spoiled social and cultural roots. The people of present are losing their
identities in the influence of universal culture. The culture before the expansion of science reflected the sentiments of unity, brotherhood and
humanity. They have finished in present era. Human dependence of machines brings uselessness of man and causes inflation and
unemployment. The downsizing of the companies is very common now days.
In the end it can be concluded that it is the need of hour to educate man to enslave science to human feelings and dignity. Science is
to be used for the welfare of humanity. Science is a good slave but bad master. The excessive and blind use of science may spoil human faculty.
Its just and rational use may the world safe haven. FALSITY IN INTELLECTUAL ACTION IS INTELLECTUAL IMMORALITY

VILLAGE LIFE

―GOD MADE THE COUNTRY, BUT MAN MADE THE TOWN. WILLIAM COWPER‖ HUMAN life started from caves and forests. Man
hunted wild animals and life was centered in tribes and groups. These groups joined and formed a bigger centre called a village. Thus villages
became the axis and foundation of human civilization. The role of villages is central because today‘s cities were villages once. STAY, THEN,
VILLAGE, FOR ROUND YOU SPINS….ON A SLOW AXIS A WORLD AS VAST….AND MEANINGFUL AS ANY POSED….BY GREAT PLATO'S
SOLITARY MIND. (R.S THOMAS) Village life is the happiest compromise between the natural and the artificial. It is a merry game between man
and nature.
Hence, village life is the most natural life for the human beings. A village is enriched with natural beauty. The green landscape,
running brooks, excessive trees, grassy and lush green fields and meandering birds add up the beauty of village life. Nature has always
pleasant effect on the human beings. It keeps man alive in a real sense. The sight of beauty invokes the sentiment of pleasure and happiness.
―BUT WHAT IS HAPPINESS EXCEPT SIMPLE HARMONY BETWEEN PERSONS AND LIFE THEY LEAD. ALBERT CAMUS‖
God made things have special effect on human hearts. The beauty of a village pleases our aesthetic sense. A village has matchless
scenic beauty and freshness of atmosphere. The gleaming and dancing flowers fascinate us. ‖ ONE TOUCH OF NATURE MAKES THE WHOLE
WORLD KIN. WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE.‖ The green trees, vast pastures and lush green fields add up our happiness. The scenery of dawn and
dusk is particularly beautiful and charming. Pakistan is a country of villages and the majority of the Pakistani are villagers. Mostly people are
associated with agriculture. They remain near nature. ―NATURE IS THE ART OF GOD. DANTE ALGHIERI‖. Agriculture is the backbone of our
economy. Thus the village life contributes to national economy a lot. Besides farming, some villagers do painting, embroidery, pottery and
handicrafts. Thus many villages and areas are famous for their products not only in the country but also in the foreign countries. THE SUN
DOESN‘T FORGET A VILLAGE BECAUSE IT IS SMALL
The villages are the centre of primitive custom and traditions. These practices reflect the old values found in our society. We can
analyze the difference of cities and villages with regard to traditions. We can look into our past by visiting a village. We can find the changes
which have taken place in primitive Aryan society over centuries. The regional festivals bring the people close to one another. The
manifestation of brotherhood can be observed on such occasions. The village people take part in fairs and festivals. The celebrations are quite
plain and simple. They attend the folk dance and the open air dramas. ―SIMPLICITY IS THE ULTIMATE SOPHISTICATION. VINCI‖ The people
share each other‘s happiness and grief. The time of death and wedding increases their oneness. Though the streets are unpaved and narrow,
their hearts are big and generous. They are hospitable. The guest of one family is considered the guest of the whole village.
The villagers live in humble cottages. There are no melted roads in our villages. The village streets are narrow. The lanes are crowded
with animals and playing children. The houses are built quite close together and are often adjoined to one another. The villagers are very
conventional. They know no change. They are contented and satisfied with what God has blessed them with. They don‘t run after money.
Materialism is mostly fashion in cities. The villagers are sincere and honest. ―THE MERIT OF ORIGINALITY IS NOT NOVELTY; IT IS SINCERITY.
THOMAS CARLYLE .‖ They know no selfishness. They love their custom and traditions. They are simple, innocent, kind and hospitable. They
have no liking for luxury. They manage with a few pieces of clothes. They prefer the plain food. They discharge their social duties in the
simplest possible manner. ―HE IS RICHEST WHO IS CONTENT WITH THE LEAST, FOR CONTENT IS THE WEALTH OF NATURE. SOCRATES‖
Villagers are mostly field-workers. They take to farming. Some of them are artisans. All of them follow the trade of their respective
castes. They take to different callings of life. Some are priests, some are milkmen, some are oilmen, some are fishermen, some are washer men,
some are barbers and some are drummers and so on. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR HARDWORK. EDISON. They are not rich and wealthy. But
they have enough for their minimum requirements of life. Their physical labour keeps them healthy and fit. They don‘t need jogging and a
gym as it is common in cities.
There are many benefits of village life. First, life in a village is pure and easy. The needs of the village are a few. Eggs, milk,
vegetables and butter are their common diet. Their diet is pure though it is simple. There is no chance of impurity or contamination in the food
items in the villages. The village life also gives a person a chance to live a disciplined life in which a person wakes up early in the morning and
sleeps in the evening. The people of villages do not even need light because they have planned their life in a way that they can survive without
electricity. Their dress, food, custom and manners are simple but decent. ―LIFE IS REALLY SIMPLE, BUT MEN INSIST ON MAKING
COMPLICATED. CONFUCIUS‖
The atmosphere of the villages is very clean and pure. It is calm and peaceful. There is no noise and air pollution in the villages. The
villagers breathe in pure and fresh air. They are early riser and have a round of their lands early in the morning. It is healthful. ―AN EARLY
MORNING WALK IS A BLESSING FOR THE WHOLE DAY. HENRY DAVID THOREAU‖
There is no special fun for the villagers. Their only hobby is to make gossips or watch TV in the evening. The marriage ceremony is the
most amusing event of the village. This is the occasion when the villagers show their feelings of joy and pleasure. Village fair is still another
event of amusement for the villagers. ‖IN THE COUNTRY, PEOPLE ARE QUIET BUT FEW ARE LONELY. FISHER.‖ The villagers find a lot of
leisure time to enjoy their lives. They are not material beasts hankering after money. The cool shady tree is outstanding place to sit in and relish
the shade and cool breeze. THE END OF LABOUR IS TO GAIN LEISURE
The village life has many demerits beside merits. A village lacks modern facilities. The education and hospital facilities are limited in
the villages. The chances of education are a few in the villages. Most of the people in villages are ignorant. They either shift to cities to get
educational and health facilities or spend a lot on transportation. This travelling is the waste of time as well of money. They get depraved of
basic facilities like education and health.

Owing to backwardness in education, tribal and family conflicts are very common in villages. They sometimes prolong to decades
and cause the loss of lives in scores. The people engage themselves in brutal exercise for the mere ego and self respect. The villages present a
painful picture during rainy season. They have to face problems in unpaved streets. Natural calamities like floods are common in villages. Their
economy is seasonal. They get job during the crop season. Mostly they lead an idle life. As a result, the villagers remain depraved from modern
facilities and financial gains.
The govt. offices, private companies, factories, skilled workers and technicians are very rare in villages. The people have to carry
their machines that are out of order to cities for repair. They have to move towards cities to find jobs. The hawkers are common sellers of good
in villages. The villagers have to spend money and time to reach cities to procure the goods of daily use. Mostly villagers are uneducated and
conservative. They are stuck to their primitive ideas whether they are beneficial or not. I HAD RATHER BE FIRST IN A VILLAGE THAN SECOND
AT ROME. JULIUS CAESURE
It is said that country life is sweet. It is true no doubt. The greatest of the poets have sung the praise of it. The romantic poets
fascinated the village life. Prophets, too have the greatest admiration for the village life. Great thinkers and philosophers have spent their
invaluable lives in the countryside. Hence, village life is highly cherished, in all ages by every soulful man. ‗OUT BEYOND IDEAS OF WRONG
DOING AND RIGHT DOING THERE IS FIELD. I‘LL MEET YOU THERE. WHEN THE SOUL LIES DOWN IN THAT GRASS, THE WORLD IS TOO FULL
TO TALK ABOUT.‘

WHY I LOVE PAKISTAN

MY COUNTRY TIS OF THEE,….SWEET LAND OF LIBERTY,…OF THEE I SING……LAND WHERE MY FATHERS DIED!
LAND OF THE PILGRIM'S PRIDE! A beautiful scene of dusk shows a sweet picture of the universe. The sun sets and calmness and
stillness dominate the loud voices of the day. I often see the birds returning to their nests. These tiny creatures, lacking the faculty of reasoning
and speech, believe that the best place ever found in the world is home. No matter how far we are from our homes, its necessity never
decreases. EAST, WEST, HOME'S BEST.

Man is a social animal. He forms a society where he lives. The interdependence of man makes him associated with his birth place. As
Aristotle says, ――MAN IS BY NATURE A SOCIAL ANIMAL; AN INDIVIDUAL WHO IS UNSOCIAL NATURALLY AND NOT ACCIDENTALLY IS
EITHER BENEATH OUR NOTICE OR MORE THAN HUMAN.‖His birth place is like a mother who provides all the necessities to the children. Thus
love for it is part and parcel of man‘s life. My beloved homeland, Pakistan is very dear to me on the account of being my birth place. It is
natural instinct which is found in all the creatures. The lion never allows someone to enter its den. Even sparrows make hue and cry to see some
foreign element. All this shows the feelings of patriotism; love for one‘s birth place is a natural passion.

There are countless reasons for my love for Pakistan. Pakistan‘s creation was no doubt the finest hour of our history. Our forefathers
struggled for it creation to materialize the dream of freedom, democracy and prosperity. They wanted to make the nascent state a laboratory
of Islam where there would be an ideal democracy featured by freedom, justice, brotherhood and peace.

THE WORLD IS MY COUNTRY, ALL MANKIND ARE MY BRETHREN, AND TO DO GOOD IS MY RELIGION. THOMAS PAINE. The
practice of an ideal democracy with golden Islamic principles is the ultimate dream of its creation. I am a true Muslim and my affection for the
country increases. My attachment is spiritual as well as physical. All enjoyments, pleasures and comforts are due to Pakistan. Whereas its lands
and rivers provide me food and fruits, its industries and business provide me amenities of life. Its landscape provides me pleasant feelings and
keeps me alive in a real sense. It ensures me freedom I am enjoying in my countries. The importance of freedom can be known from the victims
of Kashmir and Palestine. THE PATRIOT'S BLOOD IS THE SEED OF FREEDOM'S TREE. THOMAS CAMPBELL.

Pakistan is my identity, honour and respect. It is a label that I carry while going abroad. Pakistan lies on the crucial point of the
world map. It is a gateway to the warm waters for the central Asian countries, China and Russia. It is the hub of all the Islamic countries and
has been the leading member of Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC). During 1970‘s, the OIC summit was held in Pakistan. The world
powers have vested interests in our country. They need our cooperation to tackle the imminent problems of the world. Moreover, it is the
emerging economy of the world with a lot of human potential. Thus, all these factors enhance my pride in my motherland.

Pakistan is the land of dreams, joys and emotions. This is the land of greatness and glory. It is enriched with greenery, sand, plains,
mountains and immense number of different animals and birds. As Bacon says, ― NOTHING IS PLEASANT THAT IS NOT SPICED WITH
VARIETY.‖It is jewel that shines with the distinction it carries among the whole world.

Pakistan is the world‘s seventh largest standing force, fourth smartest people in the world, the second largest salt mines, the world‘s
largest ambulance network, the world‘s largest manmade forest, the first Islamic country to attain nuclear power and important minerals and
mines. I love my country for its natural resources.oil, coal, natural gas, marble, precious stones and many types of minerals are found here. Its
villages have immense rural charms and natural beauty. Its cities sparkle with colorful gala and festivity. It glows with natural and man-made
brilliance. Its cities are teeming with educational institutions, hospitals, offices, broad roads, high-speed railways, large airports, shopping
plazas, big bazaars and public parks. Its villages are surrounded by tall trees, fertile fields, rural landscape, fruitful gardens and bubbling
streams. All basic facilities could be enjoyed in rural areas here. It arouses our feelings and love for nature. NATURE DOES NOT HURRY, YET
EVERYTHING IS ACCOMPLISHED. LAO TZU.

I love my country for its beautiful scenery, golden traditions and fertile fields. It is the land of forested valleys, mighty mountains,
fast-flowing rivers, surging streams, lush green fields, fruitful flowery gardens, beautiful landscape, substantial resources and thriving
industries. It is the land of long-standing culture, time-honored traditions, solemn rituals and long-established customs. It is the land of ancient
civilization. Mohenjo-Daro, Harappa and Texila are known for their ancient heritage, old civilization and antique traces. God has blessed
Pakistan with wide variety of resources and seasons. If one can enjoy the coldness and snow falling of northern areas, one can also have the
intense heat of the Choolistan and the Thar.

It has humid and mild weather of Karachi along with uncertain weather of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. As it is well said, "VARIETY IS
THE SPICE OF LIFE."In fact, being a Pakistani, I can relish wide variety of seasons and landscapes. The road from Murree to Abbotabad is the
best road enriched with beautiful scenery. I feel exalted to have and enjoy all these things. As I know that the Holy Prophet (SAAW) says,
―LOVE FOR ONE'S COUNTRY IS A PART OF FAITH‖

I love my country for its people. It is the place of great men. It is the place where Quaid-e-Azam had lived. It is the place where the
great religious scholars like Ddata Gange Buksh, Khawaja Gulam Fareed and Baba Bhulle Shah have lived and buried. It is the place where
great poets like Hafeez Jalindhari, Faiz Ahmad Faiz and Majeed Amjad had breathed their last. It is the place of great warriors. Moreover, it is
the place where doctor Abdul Qadeer Khan and Dr. Sarmarmand Mubarak live. Owing to these great minds, Pakistan is able to stand and
challenge the malevolence of any country. It is the only Islamic nuclear power and seventh in the world. I feel proud of my country. I want to
enhance her capability. I THINK PATRIOTISM IS LIKE CHARITY -- IT BEGINS AT HOME.HENRY JAMES

It has wide variety of cultures, languages and ways of living. We can find a homogenous culture, which is the true essence of
humanity in which there is no distinction of class, colour and race. Thus, this variety substantiates a liberal outlook and acceptance for others.
The society tolerates others. Their hospitality can be undermined from the hospitality they have rendered to Afghan refugees for the four
decades. Pakistan is always helping hand to the neighbouring countries and Islamic ideology. OUR OBLIGATIONS TO OUR COUNTRY NEVER
CEASES BUT WITH OUR LIVES. JOHN ADAMS.

As I love my country, I have devoted all of my time for its prosperity and welfare. I am determined to propagate the ideology of
Pakistan in the circles of my friends and acquaintances. I am not an idealist. I can understand that the love for the country requires integrity,
honesty and dedication in our obligations to the state and our fellow beings. Thus my sentiments are not mere empty vessels rather they
contain the imperial pursuits on my part. May my efforts bear fruit! May Allah make us patriot in a true sense! Viva la Pakistan. PATRIOTISM
IS SUPPORTING YOUR COUNTRY ALL THE TIME AND YOUR GOVERNMENT WHEN IT DESERVES IT.MARK TWAIN

ENERGY CRISES IN PAKISTAN/LOADSHEDDING/ELECTRICITY CRISES
ENERGY AND PERSISTENCE ALTER ALL THINGS. FRANKLIN. Energy is the soul of the whole universe. Nothing can be done without
energy. We narrow down energy to our power sector which runs the wheel of our day to day life, including our industries and homes. Energy is
a key in running machinery in factories and industrial units, for lighting our cities and powering our vehicles etc. A crisis can be credited to our
incapacity to meet our demands in energy sector. Thus, this shortfall affects human life in general and worsens the misery of man. Energy crisis
is a great challenge of present times in our dear homeland. Without energy, no living soul can ever imagine to live because it is the need of
economic and social sector. An energy crisis can be defined as any great bottleneck (or price rise) in the supply of energy resources to an
economy.

Pakistan has been bestowed with countless blessings but the mismanagement and poor planning have brought disaster. ENERGY IS
AN ETERNAL DELIGHT, AND HE WHO DESIRES, BUT ACTS NOT, BREEDS PESTILENCE. WILLIAM BLAKE The common masses have to suffer the
pain of load shedding of gas as well as electricity. It has many resources. The biggest reserves of gas are in Pakistan. Coal is found in excessive
quantity. The solar energy has the potential of 100000 MW. In addition to them, there is huge potential of nuclear energy as well as hydro
power. But in spite of all these blessings, darkness rules our homeland. Electricity has become a dream only. Our fellow men have gone to olden
times when man lived in forests and rubbed stones to burn wood for lit fire.

The demand for electricity and other energy resources is increasing day by day. There is short fall of 4000 to 9000 MW in different
seasons depending upon the climatic conditions. There are different resources of energy. They are coal, gas, hydral power, nuclear energy, air,
solar energy and fossil fuels. Coal is not used and gas is not enough to fulfill domestic, transport and industrial needs. No hydral power was
built is a few decades. The previous dams have reduced capacity due to slit. Nuclear resources don‘t expand with much speed due to
international pressure and their cost. Pakistan produces mere 2% of electricity from nuclear sector while this figure is 16% in the world. Air and
solar plants are used on a limited scale. Fossil fuels are costly and affect economy with the change in prices in international market.

All these things have increased the crises. There are many reasons of this problem. There is population increase. Every year our
demand increases. But we are unable to meet requirements. There is poor planning by the ruling class. THERE IS NO ENERGY CRISIS, ONLY A
CRISIS OF IGNORANCE. It doesn‘t realize its importance. No dam was built in a few decades except Ghazi Barotha and Chashma. Some
projects like Kalabagh dam have been politicized. Thus there is no use of coal reserves, water resources and nuclear technology. Pakistan has
diverse climates and seasons. There are many resources in the form of air, water current and solar energy. But they are not utilized. The life
style of the people has also improved. There is excessive use of electrical appliances. The people lead luxurious life style. Thus, the need of
energy increases and resultantly the problem increases. They don‘t realize the importance of electricity saving. ENERGY CONSERVATION IS
THE FOUNDATION OF ENERGY INDEPENDENCE.

The masses are uneducated and waste electricity. They even use bulbs instead of energy savers. Present Prime Minister‘s scheme of
exchanging energy savers with bulbs seems a useless practice. There is corruption in wapda. The people are involved in electricity theft. The
officials are helping hands to them. It causes increase in tariffs and loss of the capital. This is due to poor law and order and corruption in law
enforcement agencies as well as wapda. Nearly all the areas of FATA don‘t pay bills. The powerful people feel humiliated to pay their bills.
Corruption has also worsened the situation in Rental Power case and costly electricity. Wapda has poor distribution system. There a lot of line
losses and theft due to old technology. The price of petroleum products is high. It increases the cost of electricity because 70% electricity is
produced from petroleum products.

It has affected socio-economic life in many ways. The cost of the industrial products increases and the industrial units can‘t compete
in international markets. The lack of manufacturing in the country makes the people jobless and promotes trading from other countries which
is highly disastrous for the poor economy. Mere trade concentrates money into a few hands. Consequently exports reduce and purchase power
lessens. This situation results capital and brain drain of the desperate minds from the country. GDP growth rate decreases as well. The
agricultural economy of Pakistan in which three fourth of population is associated with farming directly or indirectly suffer a lot. The farmers
can‘t produce according to their potential. Industry collapses in such circumstances. Unemployment, inflation and poverty are caused due to
high energy prices. The students don‘t get electricity to prepare for the exams. Energy crises result a lot of social issues. The people use
alternative resources to get energy. They burn the trees to meet their energy needs. It causes environmental pollution.

To correct all these problems, there is the need of solid steps. Law and order should be made effective to punish the culprits involved
in power theft and corruption. There should be no excuse for any one. Prepaid electricity cards should be introduced to avoid corruption. To
fulfill the needs of energy, it should be imported from other countries. PAK-IRAN Gas pipeline agreement is very crucial in this regard. It can
address a lot of problems. Corruption should be dealt with iron hands. The equipment of WAPDA should be replaced to reduce line losses and
absorb extra production of electricity.

Alternative energy should be sought out. The uranium, coal, and hydral reserves should be used effectively. The govt. should plan
for the long term and in the wake of ever increasing demands. The people should be made aware through media and educational syllabus of
the schools and colleges to make living simple. The abundant use of private transport may be discouraged with the inductance of public
transport equipped with luxuries and facilities. All the factories producing bulbs should be changed into energy savers. The agricultural
biomass can fulfill our local needs particularly in our villages where there is agricultural economy.

Thus, it can be concluded that energy crises should be dealt at many levels. Long term and short term measures are to be taken to
decrease this problem. The real thing in the solution of any problem is human determination and enthusiasm. ENTHUSIASM IS THE ENERGY
AND FORCE THAT BUILDS LITERAL MOMENTUM OF THE HUMAN SOUL AND MIND.

TERRORISM IN PAKISTAN

Terrorism is defined as the unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or
property with the intention of intimidating (threatening) or coercing (pressurizing) societies or governments, often for ideological or political
reasons.

Terrorism is a serious threat and alarming problem in Pakistan. It is not only found in our homeland but also present in the whole
world. It has threatened the world peace. The terrorists have no territory or religion. They have their own agenda to promote. They are the ills
of society. They are anti-democratic forces which force their ideas.

They lack tolerance and patience. Terrorism is shaking the basis of Pakistan. Suicides and blasts are very common. In present times, it
is mostly associated with freedom movements and religious extremism. Some misguided religious elements use force to implement their ideas
through violence. Islam forbids any act of violence because Islam is the religion of peace.

The meaning of the word, Islam, is submission and peace. ―And do not aggress; GOD dislikes the aggressors‖. (Quran 5:87)You shall
resort to pardon, advocate tolerance, and disregard the ignorant‖. (Quran: 7:199) Islam doesn‘t allow injustice. ―You shall not kill any person
for GOD has made life sacred — except in the course of justice.‖ (Quran17:33)

There are many social, economic and religious factors of terrorism. Religious extremism is the first cause. Some religious elements
misinterpret Islam. They think that it should be propagated forcefully. They forget the true spirit of Islam. They brainwash the young minds.
They consider it a virtue to kill a person having different sects and ideologies. They don‘t consider that ―The murder of a person is the murder of
whole humanity‖
The lack of justice is another reason. The grievances of the people are not addressed. They find violence to enforce themselves. The
delayed justice in Pakistan causes the acts of violence and terrorism. As, it is well said, ―If you are a terror to many, then beware of many.‖
There is illiteracy in Pakistan. The uneducated people can be misguided and used by the terrorist groups. They don‘t understand true concept
of Islamic teachings.

The world powers have vested interests in Pakistan. Our country has very crucial position in the globe. It is at the edge of warm
water and gateway to Russia and China. World trade through sea is carried out through this region. Moreover, Pakistan is an atomic power.
The countries like India, Israel and America don‘t want Pakistan to progress. They are involved in the promotion of terrorism. They sponsor
certain mafias and religious groups.

Pakistan has diverse cultures. The people are different from others. The religious and ethnic conflicts are very common. The religious
groups are supported by countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia. The ethnic variations are exploited by enemy countries. TTP in Waziristan and
BLA in Baluchistan are its examples. Poverty and food insecurity are its common reasons. It is surveyed that there is high rate of food insecurity
and poverty In KPK, FATA and Baluchistan.

Political instability, dictatorship, poor law and order, poor institutional role, corruption and old police system also contribute a lot in
terrorism. They don‘t ensure peace and security of the people. They take law in their hands and do injustice. As Hazrat Ali (R.A) says, ―The
government of injustice can‘t sustain.‖

Political parties also exercise their power and cause terrorism. The violence in Karachi is its example where MQM, PPPP and ANP are
against one another. Afghan war is another reason. Pakistan wants to save her western front. So, it participated in Afghan war against Russia
and war against Taliban led by America. It promoted militancy and extremism. The drone attacks are adding fuel to fire in terrorism. The
effected people of FATA consider Pakistan responsible and get involved in terrorist attacks.

The state terrorism by many countries also promotes terrorism. The people of Kashmir and Palestine are mistreated by India and
Israel. The freedom movements also play important role in terrorism. There is no coordination among the security agencies and provincial
departments.

It has affected life badly in Pakistan. It has caused thousands of deaths of civilians, military personnel, and police men. GDP growth
doesn‘t reach up to expected level. Life becomes insecure. There happens no investment in the business. It results capital and brain flight from
the country. Economic slump happens as a result. Manufacturing division has been destroyed. There is no foreign investment. Tourism has
finished in Pakistan.

The relationship to the civilized world also reduces. There is migration of the people from affected areas. It worsens law and order
situation. It has also psychological effects. The people get worried and don‘t visit crowded areas with the fear of suicidal attacks. The people
get away from religion. The image of Islam has become spoiled. A negative picture of Islam is posed in the west particularly by the countries
like Pakistan.

To get over this problem, there should be a national commission. It should coordinate all the state institutions to fight against
terrorism. The religious scholars should finish their differences and promote democracy and tolerance. It is said that democracy is stronger than
terrorism. Moreover, bad governance should be finished. The root causes of poverty and food insecurity should be eliminated. All the regional
and political issues should be finished.

Govt. should have clear stance on drone attacks. The political parties should boycott their military wings. A scenario of dialogue
should be established. The system of Madarissas should be upgraded. There should be induction of science and technology in them. Pakistan
should quit itself from war on terrorism led by America. As a conclusion, all of us should sacrifice our personal benefits for the sake of collective
and national ones. Thus we can bring great changes in our motherland.
A VISIT TO HISTORICAL PLACE

COWPER SAID: ―WHAT PEACEFUL HOURS I ONCE ENJOYED! HOW SWEET THEIR MEMORY STILL‖
It is the modern age. Man‘s life is characterized by various types of stress. Man leads a busy life and works day and night like a
machine. He finds a little time for enjoyment. There is no change in his life. The quest for money makes his life dull, colourless, monotonous
and boring. As a result, his life is a like a deserted and barren land where nothing grows but hay. The picture of dreary life is drawn by
Francis Bacon as ―NOTHING IS PLEASANT THAT IS NOT SPICED WITH VARIETY. FRANCIS BACON‖ Man‘s life is full of worries and cares
because he is hankering after money. He has made his soul eroded like a barren desert. The similar idea has been given by W.H Davies in
his poem, ―WHAT IS THIS LIFE IF FULL OF CARE, WE HAVE NO TIME TO STAND AND STARE.‖ W. H. DAVIS
In such situation, man needs some change and recreation. Travelling is the most famous effective way of learning. As it is well said,
―A JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES MUST BEGIN WITH A SINGLE STEP.‖ – LAO TZU

I lead such busy life. However, I do spare time some time for the enlightenment of my soul. In this age of hurries and worries, a picnic
provides an escape from monotonous routine of life. It is also a great source of information. Man not only finds others but also his place in
the scheme of this world. WE TRAVEL INITIALLY TO LOSE OURSELVES; AND WE TRAVEL NEXT TO FIND OURSELVES. WE TRAVEL TO
OPEN OUR HEARTS AND EYES AND LEARN MORE ABOUT THE WORLD. PICO IYER
Particularly, the visits to historical places teach us so many things. Sometimes such places tell us stories better than the books on history. It
is well said, ―ARCHITECTURE IS A FROZEN MUSIC‖ A visit to historical place is always valuable for a student.
It enriches his knowledge and increases his vision. The historical places entail the stories of the past personalities. As it is said, ―ALL THE
HISTORY IS THE BIOGRAPHY OF GREAT MEN‖

One day, we decided to go for outing. We had not seen the tomb of Jahangir. All the friends agreed to see this historical place.
Jehangir, the emperor was an important figure of the Mughal Empire. The Mughals had ruled Hindustan for about one thousand years.
Their climax and decline give us a lesson that nothing is permanent in this world. Every rise is subjected to decline. The tomb of Jehangir is
situated at Shahdara, four miles away from Lahore. We hired a taxi, loaded our luggage and eatables and starting our journey with
excitement and joy. We had a great fun on the way. The friends sang various gay songs. Everybody was excited and energetic. The life
along the road was the source of continuous amusement. We observed the dynamic life around. The farmers were tilling fields and women
were also helping their husbands. Somewhere, there were the children of the poor families were also in the fields. It was the true picture of
villages of Punjab. The sight of running fields along with our car was a fascinating scene.

At last, we reached there after three hours. We were much exited. The past was to come before our eyes. Past is the source of a lesson.
We direct the stream of our life with its help. We set our goals in the light of experiences gained in the past. Moreover, past also entails the
experiences of others. As Sheikh Saadi says, ―STUPID IS THE PERSON WHO LEARNS FROM HIS OWN EXPERIENCE RATHER THE
EXPERIENCES OF OTHERS‖ Moreover, past is the source of enlightenment for us. ―WHO CONTROLS THE PAST CONTROLS THE FUTURE:
WHO CONTROLS THE PRESENT CONTROLS THE PAST. GEORGE ORWELL‖

When we got down of our car, there was the magnificent tomb of Jahangir before our eyes. The four tall minarets of the tomb could
be seen from a distance. We saw big grassy lawns on either side of the roads, on entering the gate. The mausoleum was is in a park
enclosed by high walls. There were green grassy plots with fountains on either side of the passage. There were full of blooming flowers. The
atmosphere was full of the fragrance of flowers all around. The mixture of different types of odour was enchanting our minds. It was very
charming sight. It reminded me the verses of John Keats, ―A THING OF BEAUTY IS A JOY FOR EVER:…..
ITS LOVELINESS INCREASES; IT WILL NEVER……THOUGH NOTHING CAN BRING BACK THE HOUR; …..OF SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS, OF
GLORY IN THE FLOWER..KEATS

Nature was reigning everywhere. The sweet flowers were waving to and fro. It looked as if paradise had descended to the earth.
Luther Burbank says: ―FLOWERS ALWAYS MAKE PEOPLE BETTER, HAPPIER AND MORE HELPFUL.‖ There were some cool shady trees in
the lawns. Birds were sitting in the twigs of these trees. They were chirping and were presenting beautiful nature.
It was captivating me . ―A TOUCH OF NATURE MAKES THE WHOLE WORLD KIN. SHAKESPEARE.‖ They were presenting a colourful
sight. It was an attractive atmosphere. To see the beauty of nature, it began to sing the beautiful verses of Keats, ―AH, HAPPY HAPPY
BOUGH THAT CANNOT SHED YOUR LEAVES,NOR EVER BID THE SPRING ADIEU.‖

There was a beautiful fountain in the centre of the lawn. It was sprinkling its light shower and it was producing a charming music.
We were no less happy than Wordsworth when he entered the fascinating valley and started singing his beautiful verses
―OH THERE IS BLESSING IN THIS GENTLE BREEZE THAT BLOWS FROM THE GREEN FIELDS AND FROM THE CLOUDS, AND FROM THE
SKY: IT BEATS AGAINST MY CHEEK AND SEEMS HALF CONSCIOUS OF THE JOY IT GIVES.‖ We entered the structure that contains the
grave of the emperor. We remembered that every rise is followed by a fall. The tomb was decorated with colourful designs. It looked
wonderful piece of Muslim architecture. It reminded the climax of the Mughal Empire. We offered ―fateha‖ there.
A wise man said: ―THE PLACES ARE INDEED GREAT, ENCLOSING THE GREAT PEOPLE.‖

We went up to the terrace. We had a view of the city of Lahore from there. It was a splendid sight. The cool breeze and deep blue sky
had a magical effect on us. We came down and sat under a tree to take rest. We had some light refreshment. It was evening and the light
began to fade. There was silence and peace of the place everywhere. It affected us strangely. The death of the great king, the brave
warrior and skillful administrator showed to us ―EVERYBODY HAS TO LEAVE THIS WORLD. (AL-QURAN).‖ The emperor lay forgotten in
his grave. There was none of his courtiers to salute him. We were full of solemn thoughts when we left the place. We were pondering over
the phenomena of death and the eternity of nature. We agreed with Shakespeare: ―IN NATURE‘S INFINITE BOOK OF SECRECY, A LITTLE I
CAN READ.‖ We took a lot of memories of Mughal Empire and its downfall. ―HISTORY IS A CYCLIC POEM WRITTEN BY TIME UPON THE
MEMORIES OF MAN. PB SHELLEY‖

SCIENCE NEVER SOLVED A PROBLEM WITHOUT CREATING TEN MORE..(GEORGE BERNARD SHAW)
Our earth is the only planet in the universe which is suitable for life. Air and water are needed for our survival. The Earth provides these
essentials and man uses them. This usage over the period has led to serious pollution problems that can be dangerous. Pakistan is also facing serious
problems of pollution.
The word, 'pollution' means to make dirty. Pollution is the process of making the environment, land, water and air dirty by adding
harmful substances to it. Pollution causes imbalance in the environment. This imbalance has threatened the very survival of all forms of life. It is a
threat to the whole world.
Environmental pollution is a serious problem in the whole world. The agreement of Q2 protocol is an example of the concern of the whole
world to this issue. America and China are the big polluters due to their industrial progress. The burning of coals in the poor countries is another
factor that escalates the pollution in the world. It is considered as the adverse outcome of science. SCIENCE WITHOUT RELIGION IS LAME, RELIGION
WITHOUT SCIENCE IS BLIND.
Pakistan is an emerging economy and it is being industrialized rapidly. The population growth has emphasized the industrialists to set
up new industrial units. It had increased the ratio of carbon dioxide and other poisonous gases in the air.
There are different types of pollution on this earth. They can be named as: air pollution, water pollution, nuclear pollution, soil pollution
and noise pollution. The environmental pollution is the biggest challenge for the inhabitants of this earth. It becomes difficult to breathe in such a
dirty air.
Environmental pollution is a serious problem of the industrialized societies. The industrial development and the Green Revolution have
adversely affected the environment. People have converted the life supporting system of the entire living world into their own resources and have
vastly disturbed the natural ecological balance. Serious degradation and depletion have been caused due to the overuse, misuse and
mismanagement of resources to meet the human greed.
Air pollution happens with the emission of poisonous gases, smoke and chemicals in the air. Soil pollution occurs due to industrial,
agricultural and domestic waste. The nuclear waste is another threat for human survival. Noise pollution is a common problem in the third world
countries where law and order is very poor. The vehicles and machines emit poisonous gases and resultantly make other‘s life miserable.
There are many reasons for the pollution.
Air pollution results from gaseous emission from industry, thermal power stations, domestic combustion etc. Owing to air pollution, the
composition of air is changing all over the world. Most of the gases and air pollutants are produced by burning fuels. Burning of coal produces
carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide and etc. which are responsible for acid rain. Chlorofluorocarbons are widely used, which affect ozone. Thus air
pollution causes many diseases particularly cancerous ones. It becomes difficult to breathe. The cancerous diseases are common. Air pollution has
also caused global warming.
The temperature of the world is increasing day by day. As a result, the climate has become uncertain. The ice melting has raised the level
of water in the rivers and seas. Industrialization and overpopulation are the major causes of air pollution. POLLUTION IS NOTHING BUT
RESOURCE WE ARE NOT HARVESTING. Air pollution causes allergies, asthma, lung cancer and bronchitis. Radioactive pollutants cause respiratory
problems, paralysis cancer and other diseases. WHEN THE EARTH IS SICK AND POLLUTED, HUMAN HEALTH IS IMPOSSIBLE. EMERSON
The water of the rivers and the seas has been polluted all over the world because of various dangerous chemical and biological wastes.
Mills and factories discharge very harmful waste waters into many the rivers and the seas. There are no treatment plants in the poor countries like
Pakistan. The sewage, chemical wastes and drainage are put into the rivers without purification. It harms us in two ways. It poisons the aquatic life
as well as underground water. Water is important need of life. Thus it causes many diseases. It also affects food chain and ecosystem.
Soil pollution is caused by the domestic, industrial and agricultural waste. The garbage throwing near the localities is very common in
Pakistan. It causes many epidemics. The people don‘t have the concept of cleanliness. CLEANLINESS IS THE HALF FAITH. The use of fertilizers,
pesticides and insecticides has polluted the soil as well as the food chain. The infected food has bad impact on human health. The soil gets heavily
polluted by hazardous materials and micro organisms, which enter the food chain or water and create numerous health problems.
Noise from heavy machinery and vehicles can cause hearing problems and in extreme cases, deafness. There is poor law and order in the
poor countries like Pakistan. The traffic authorities have no check and balance on noise producing vehicles. It causes anxiety, hypertension and
psychological disorders.
Nuclear wastes and nuclear test have caused many serious diseases. The spread of radioactive materials into the air has increased. This
radioactive pollution may cause cancers, abnormal births and mutations in men.
The masses should be made aware of the impacts of pollution and its causes. They should avoid using burning coal and wood. The smoke
producing factories and vehicles should be fined by the authorities. Biannual inspection of the vehicles and factories with regard to pollution should
be conducted. Every industrial unit should be forced to install treatment plants for the waste as well as smoke.
It can be concluded that it is a great danger for the existence of human kind. To deal with this danger, there should be control on coal
burning and industrialization. The treatment plants should be installed. The Q2 protocol should be implemented. The masses should be made
aware of its dangers. ART IS THE TREE OF LIFE. SCIENCE IS THE TREE OF DEATH. WILLIAM BLAKE

UNEMPLOYMENT

YOU TAKE MY LIFE WHEN YOU DO TAKE THE MEANS WHEREBY I LIVE. WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE.
The situation in which people who have capability are jobless is called unemployment. This is an economic and social problem
because it is the mother of many evils in the society. Three of those causes are cyclical, structural and seasonal unemployment. Cyclical
unemployment is temporary because of slump or recession of business. The rate of unemployment increases for a particular period. Frictional
unemployment happens when a worker remains unemployed until he finds a new job because throughout the course of the year in the labor
market, some workers change jobs. Structural unemployment occurs because of an absence of demand for a certain type of worker. This
typically happens when there are mismatches between employers‘ and workers‘ intensions.
It is not only found in Pakistan but also in the whole world. The progress of the world economy has slowed down due to it.
Jobless person is very dangerous for the society because a jobless person doesn‘t think positively. It is rightly said, ―AN IDLE MIND IS THE
DEVIL'S WORKSHOP‖. He becomes a criminal, a dacoit and a drug addict. He loses self respect. Franklin says, ―A PLOUGHMAN ON HIS FEET
IS HIGHER THAN A GENTLEMAN ON HIS KNEES.‖ The number of unemployed people is increasing day by day. According to one estimate
unemployment rate was 7.2% in 2013. This is dangerous figure for a country where more than half of the population is consisted of women and
children. This problem is worldwide. There is a lot of unemployment rate in Asian countries. The unemployment in Pakistan has created
various social, political and economic problems that can be rectified through good governance, vigorous economic growth, industrialization,
and psychological pacification in the country.
There are many reasons of this problem in the world and in our country.
 Scientific Advancement. The scientific advancement has reduced dependency on human beings. This is a negative effect of science in
poor country like Pakistan. A single machine can take place of hundreds of men. The sudden introduction of machines and
computers has made many people jobless. SCIENCE NEVER SOLVES A PROBLEM WITHOUT CREATING TEN MORE. BERNARD SHAW
 Lack of Technical Education. Lack of technical education in our education causes raw handed people. Even the educated people
have not any skill to earn their livelihood. They like white collar jobs. The educated people don‘t like to do menial work.
 Poor Law and Order. Terrorism and poor law and order situation have worsened the situation. It has reduced foreign investment.
Thus people don‘t get job opportunities provided by multinational companies.
 Agricultural economy. Pakistan is an agricultural country. About one third of the population is associated with agriculture directly
or indirectly. The methods and machinery used in agriculture are old. Thus we are unable to meet our food needs. Secondly
agricultural exports are raw materials. We lack industry to transform these raw products into profitable products. Moreover, the
majority of population faces seasonal unemployment. They work only for a few months.
 Energy Crises. There is excessive load shedding in our country. The industry is shutting down due to lack of energy resources. The cost
of products becomes so high that they can‘t compete in international market. As a result people are getting jobless.
KBL ACADEMY OF ENGLISH AND SCIENCES..0308-32-32-4-88
 Corruption and Lack of Political infrastructure. There is no planning and strategy by the ruling class. There is violation of merit in
employing the people. The key posts are held by inefficient administrators. This results poor planning and corruption. This has
escalated unemployment.
 Unequal distribution of labour and resources: The labour and wealth are concentrated into a few hands. The ruling business and
political class controls the whole economy of the country. They exploit the poor and resultantly the gap between the rich and the
poor increases. Therefore, a large number of people suffer from the evil like unemployment while the rich people keep on enjoying
luxurious life.
 Overpopulation. Overpopulation is another cause of employment. The birth rate is higher in Pakistan. The jobs are not available for
rapidly increasing population.
 Attitudinal Problems. Our country men don‘t want to work. They feel it as an inferior act to work with hands. They like to have blue
collar jobs where they may call their servants by mere pressing the office bell. They ignore the basic ideology of human life which is
sustainable only through hard work. WITHOUT LABOUR NOTHING PROSPERS.
This unemployment is the mother of many evils in the society. It has caused economic as well as social problems.
 Increase in Crime Rate. The crime rate has increased in the country. Jobless people are used by anti state agents and terrorist groups
by giving them a lot of money. They find no other way except adopting criminal life. The incidents of robbery and theft increase
when there is alarming unemployment rate.
 Social Evils. This causes loss of self respect and dignity. The people are unable to manage their economic life. Divorce rate has
increased. Psychological problems result and jobless people commit suicide in adverse condition. Some people start using drugs. They
can also be trapped by terrorist groups. MIND UNEMPLOYED IS MIND UN-ENJOYED.
 Brain Drain. Unemployment makes people desperate and they find their means of livelihood in the other countries. It is very
dangerous because intellectual minds leave the country. THE PRODUCTION OF TOO MANY USEFUL THINGS RESULTS IN TOO MANY
USELESS PEOPLE. KARL MARX
Many steps can be taken to eliminate this problem.
 Educational Reforms. Education is means to prepare man for survival in life. Our education system doesn‘t meet our social needs.
There is only theoretical knowledge and students even after getting professional education seem raw handed like a layman.
EDUCATING THE MIND WITHOUT EDUCATING THE HEART IS NO EDUCATION AT ALL. ARISTOTLE. Technical education should be
made common so that Pakistan may earn foreign reserve by sending man power to different countries. The education system should
be reformed. It should produce responsible citizens. Youth should be prepared according to need of ours. EDUCATION IS THE MOST
POWERFUL WEAPON WHICH YOU CAN USE TO CHANGE THE WORLD, NELSON MANDELA
 Establishing Energy resources: New energy resources should be sought and established to run industry. New dams are required to be
built up to fulfill the ever-increasing energy needs and industrial development.
 Establishing Industries. Industries should be established in the country, which will utilize raw products and earn a lot of profit from
it. It will also provide new jobs for the unemployed people.
 Improvement in Law and Order. The better law and order can bring foreign investment which will provide jobs to the people. It will
finish corruption and smuggling which are key factors of unemployment.
 Population Control. The population should be controlled in order to minimize pressure of unemployment. THE BEST SOCIAL
PROGRAM IS A GOOD JOB.
 In addition, the government debt burden has increased owing to economic shrinkage and excessive burden of the unemployed
masses. Government can return debt by the stability of economics and promotion of employment in public and semi public
organizations.
Unemployment is a great threat to our economical foundations and society. It is need of hour that it is taken seriously. Short
term and long term planning is very much necessary to deal with it. The problems should be identified and solved immediately. There is the
need of serious planning to cope up with the problem. Our homeland has great asset of youth which can be directed to find the solution of this
grave problem. To sum up, Pakistan can control sundry socio-politico and economic problems by strong political will.
The whole problems turn around one subject—bad governance. If Pakistan is succeeded to get good governance far and wide
in the country than other related issues like law and order, energy crisis, de-industrialization, unequal regulation of competition would
automatically eliminated. The unemployment in Pakistan is the basic root cause for all major social crises. If the government makes vigorous
policies and strategies to curb the unemployment tag from Pakistan, severe social problems would be eliminated forever. It solely needs good
governance and practical planning in Pakistan. OPTIMISM IS THE FAITH THAT LEADS TO ACHIEVEMENT. NOTHING CAN BE DONE
WITHOUT HOPE AND CONFIDENCE.

KASHMIR ISSUE
KASHMIR HAS ALWAYS BEEN MORE THAN A MERE PLACE. JAN MORRIS. Kashmir is one of the beautiful landscapes of the world. God
Almighty has blessed this land with matchless beauty. It is known as land of heaven. The nature over there gives the peace of mind, positive
energy, freshness of soul. Kashmir is the land of beauty. It is the source of inspiration for the creation of art and the composition of music and
poetry. Kashmir is best place for tourism. Its geostrategic location is crucial. It is the source of all the rivers flowing through India and Pakistan.
Moreover, its scenic beauty reminds us the fanciful picture of paradise in this world.

It shares border with Pakistan, China, India and Pakistan. The majority of population is the Muslims. It is mountain locked area and
naturally depends upon Pakistan for its survival. Its past history claims its Muslim background. Its inhabitants embraced Islam in the 14th century. It
got under the control of the Mughal Empire in 1586. Ranjit Singh occupied it in 1819 and established the first non-Muslim occupation of Kashmir. This
was the beginning of unjust government against the will of majority of population. ―THEY ARE THE PEOPLE OF KASHMIR. THEY JUST LIVE
THERE‖

During the division of the Sub-continent, the commission under the headship of Lord Radcliffe decided to allocate the territories with the
Muslim majority to Pakistan and leave the autonomous state heads to decide at their own. Lord Radcliffe maliciously gave the districts of
Ferozpur, Gurdaspur and Jullundar to India in spite of Muslim majority. Motivated by the partition, Raja Harri Singh also joined India against the
will of the masses. This fact is criticized by an outspoken Indian writer, ―PALESTINE AND KASHMIR ARE IMPERIAL BRITAIN'S FESTERING, BLOOD-
DRENCHED GIFTS TO THE MODEM WORLD. BOTH ARE FAULT LINES IN THE RAGING INTERNATIONAL CONFLICTS OF TODAY. ARUNDHATI
ROY‖

This situation resulted civil war in Kashmir. The Indian Army entered Kashmir to help Harri Singh. Pakistani Troops also backed up the
freedom fighters and liberated a part of Kashmir, which is called ‗Azad Kashmir.‘ When Indian army got defeated, India took this matter to UNO
for decision. It was decided in two resolutions that the decision of affiliation should be made on the bases of plebiscite of the majority. But even
after passing many decades, decision couldn‘t be made in this regard. This unjust occupying has resulted the military strife in Kashmir. Nearly
seven lac army has been deployed by India to control the freedom movement of the people. INDIA IS USING TROOPS IN KASHMIR. THEY ARE
LOSING THE BATTLE OF HEART AND MINDS. IT'S LIKE TREATING CANCER WITH DISPIRIN. IMRAN KHAN. This conflict has claimed thousands of
deaths on the both sides. The innocent people of Kashmir have been killed. Hundreds of women have been raped by the Indian soldiers. The
Kashmiri have sacrificed a lot for the precious treasure of freedom. ―FREEDOM LIES IN BEING BOLD, ROBERT FROST‖ Freedom certainly claims
lives. As it is said, ―FREEDOM IS THE OXYGEN OF SOUL.‖ India has violated all the forms of human rights in Kashmir.

Kashmir Issue has started arsenal race between Pakistan and India and has endangered the peace of the South Asia. It is the continuous
cause of distress in both the countries. Three wars have been fought between India and Pakistan on the issue of Kashmir. There was excessive loss in
these three wars. Owing to this issue, the relationship of India and Pakistan never become normal. There is excessive expenditure on defense in both
countries. This aspect is very destructive. ―ONLY THE DEAD HAVE SEEN THE END OF WAR.‖ PLATO

Kashmir is very important for the both countries. No one wants to get back from one‘s claim. Kashmir is unbreakable part according to
the foreign policy of India. The Pakistani raise slogan that Kashmir is ―Shahrag‖ of Pakistan. It is a paradise and no non believer can get paradise.
KBL ACADEMY OF ENGLISH AND SCIENCES..0308-32-32-4-88
The state has an area of 84,471 square miles. It has 902 miles long border with Pakistan and with India 317 miles only. The three main rivers of
Pakistan, namely, the Indus, the Jhelum and the Chenab are their sources in Kashmir. The two roads that link Kashmir with the rest of the world
also lie through Pakistan. Thus geographically, culturally, economically and religiously Kashmir is an integral part of Pakistan.

Thus Kashmir is part and parcel of Pakistan. Pakistani Govt. has raised her voice on every world forum for the people of Kashmir. But
this issue is still undecided. The world powers don‘t play their roles in the solution of Kashmir issue. Kashmiri Muslims are leading a poor life. They
are treated badly by the Indian forces. They are put into jails for minor suspicions and having affiliation for Pakistan and freedom movements.
They are determined for fighting against unjust occupation. They want to get the heavenly blessing of freedom as it is said, ―THE SECRET OF
HAPPINESS IS FREEDOM. THE SECRET OF FREEDOM IS COURAGE.‖

The present situation of Kashmir is getting worse with dozens of casualties every day. The Kashmiris want their right of self-
determination while Pakistan has been supporting the Kashmir cause since 1948 on all forums of the world. The long resisted frustration has turned
the Kashmiris to violence at times; however, primarily they remain a peace loving nation. However, at times incidents of kidnapping or killing of
Indian occupying forces is reported which shows their frustration. The terms between India and Pakistan have been hostile and they have fought 3
full wars wasting billions of Dollars of their poor tax payers. Any ignition to the problem of Kashmir may lead the two states at warring condition.
A strong resolution must be shown by both the neighbouring countries in resolving the problem of Kashmir with graveness and temperance.
Otherwise, a nuclear war may break out in South East Asia.

Kashmir Issue is an endless debate. Many insurgencies have been occurring on border due to this issue. Now India has a strong hold on
Kashmir as she is an emerging economic power. The world powers find India a great market for defense weapons and for the sale of their products.
Thus they don‘t emphasize India for the violation of human rights. This issue brought many regional conflicts. ―NEVER THINK THAT WAR, NO
MATTER HOW NECESSARY, NOR HOW JUSTIFIED, IS NOT A CRIME.‖ ― ERNEST HEMINGWAY

It is the need of hour that Kashmir issue should be solved to keep peace in the sub-continent so that all the people may live peacefully
and happily. The expenses consumed on weapons and nuclear weapons should be used on health and poverty of the people. There are various
models of the solution to Kashmir issue. We may think of the model applied to Cyprus by Turkey and Greece. There is yet another option to make
Kashmir an arms free trading zone. It can even be freed and made an independent republic but the wishes of the people of Kashmir must be given
due weightage. Our world is our home and ours is the only planet in the universe where life exists. We must learn to live happily with our
neighbours; however, it is possible only if we settle all our disputes. ―WHY DO YOU IN PRISON WHEN THE DOOR IS SO WIDE OPEN. RUMI‖

MY FIRST DAY AT COLLEGE

IF THERE ARE DREAMS TO SELL, HAPPY AND SAD TO TELL, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU BUY?
A college is a fountain of knowledge where students come to quench their thirst for knowledge. It is the crucial time of their life
particularly in our country. They have to determine the stream of their life whether it would be a rose or a thorn. THE THINGS TAUGHT IN
SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES ARE NOT AN EDUCATION, BUT THE MEANS TO AN EDUCATION. RALPH WALDO EMERSON. A college is the first step of
the ladder of life. Thus, past memory related to it has crucial place in man‘s life. Man can‘t get away of these sweet and painful memories rather he
remembers them to relish his isolation and determine his future. John Keats points out the similar fact in his famous poetry, ―HEARD MELODIES
ARE SWEET BUT THOSE UNHEARD ARE SWEETER.‖ My first day at college is as vivid in my mind as the rays of rising sun. I enjoy it in my
imaginations. I can never forget my first day at my alma mater which modeled the stream of my life. It glitters in my mind as well as life as a
farthest star. OUR MEMORIES ARE THE ONLY PARADISE FROM WHICH WE CAN NEVER BE EXPELLED.
After the announcement of matriculation result, I was anxious to seek admission into some renowned institute. I was ambitious and
hopeful because I had got the first position in the district. To pursue admission, I applied for admission into Government College. I had many
dreams about the life full of freedom and enjoyment in a college. ―A COLLEGE IS A PLACE OF LIGHT OF LIBERTY AND OF LEARNING.‖ DESRAELI.
My cousins and elder brothers had drawn a fascinating picture of the college life where the stream of knowledge flows and students quench their
thirst for it. Thus I entered the college with high hopes and great aspirations. I was able to reach my dream land about which I had fancied a lot.
―HOLD FAST TO DREAMS, FOR IF DREAMS DIE, LIFE IS A BROKEN WINGED BIRD THAT CANNOT FLY.‖
This day was the day I had to leave home and begin my journey to success. I was excited as well as nervous. One reason I was nervous
about coming, because I was coming to a new environment. I was also coming to where I did not know anyone. I was also nervous because I would
have to make some changes in myself and in my habits to be successful. I had fears of getting to know new people. My other fear was trying to fit
in with the others college students and adjust to college life. It was a pleasant morning of September. Cool breeze was blowing and sweet fragrance
of soil was getting into my nostrils. These moments are fresh in my mind as a daisy. I always delve into the sea of all these memorable days.
MEMORIES ARE TIMELESS TREASURES OF THE HEART.
I got up earlier than usual, offered my morning prayers, took breakfast and departed for the college. I was feeling proud of being a
college student. The beautiful lawns with colourful flowers were adding to my relish. In the centre of every lawn, there was a fountain which was
emitting the burst of water. But the real beauty of the college was its teaching quality, competent faculty and remarkable discipline. It was a great
provision for me to get knowledge. COLLEGE IS LIKE A FOUNTAIN OF KNOWLEDGE AND THE STUDENTS ARE THERE TO DRINK.MARTIAN
LUTHER KING.
I came to know that the classes were to be held after the principal‘s address to the new students in the orientation class. I also learnt that
the address was to be delivered in the College Hall. But I did not know where the College Hall was. I asked a senior student the way to it. He
immediately escorted me to a door. No sooner did I enter that room than I heard a roar of laughter. It was not the College Hall rather it was the
toilet. There were many senior students in the toilet who said, ―Come in, please.‘ I was ashamed that I had been befooled. For a while I did not
know what to do. I was feeling badly humiliated. I rushed out of toilet. I can‘t forget the day and it is as fresh as the cold of dawn in my mind.
"WHAT PEACEFUL HOURS, I ONCE ENJOYED! HOW SWEET THEIR MEMORY STILL!‖ COWPER
Then I requested another gentleman to lead me to the College Hall. He took me towards the staff room. I was befooled for the second
time. It seemed to me that everybody was laughing at me. The senior students were looking at me as if we were the animals from the zoo.
―SENIORS ALWAYS APPROACH JUNIORS WITH AN AIR OF SUPERIORITY.‖ I was staggering at that time because I was helpless and confused. The
students were giving different remarks to see the new boys. Though I had heard that ragging was banned in colleges, it was being done. I bore all
this patiently because I was looking forward to having a great time in future. I remembered, ―EVERY BLACK CLOUD HAS A SILVER LINING.‖
At last, I reached the College Hall which was crowded with new students. There was a lot of hue and cry. I got able to find a few class
fellows of my school. I sighed with ease that I had found someone to share my affliction. It was really sensational for me to share my experience
with some dear one. It was the essence of college life. ―COLLEGE LIFE IS THAT PART OF YOUR LIFE THAT YOU ARE GOING TO RELIEVE IN YOUR
MEMORIES TILL YOU BREATH‖
The principal reached after a few minutes. The orientation was started with the formal beginning of the recitation of the Holy Quran and
Naat. The principal advised us to try our best to achieve our goals. He also asked us not to forget the school discipline in college. He also advised the
students not to take part in politics at college and to pay full attention to their studies. The principal conveyed us the rules and regulations of the
college with abundant treatise of advice in the light of his experience. It was a valuable treasure of knowledge and experience. His words were
forceful with the light of his intellect. I remembered Saadi‘s saying, ―A WISE LEARNS FROM OTHER‘S EXPERIENCES WHILE A FOOL LEANRS
THROUGH HIS OWN EXPERIENCE‖
He also introduced the faculty of the college. I was delighted to know about the qualification and experience of the worthy professors.
Most of them had earned their PhD‘s in their subjects. As being a true scholar, it was good news for me that I could get benefit from them. All the
professors came to the stage to introduce themselves but the introduction with outstanding accent of English professor was unmatchable. The
scholarly, rich and symbolic words of the worthy professor looked as if he were pouring out all of his knowledge. I realized ―COLLEGES ARE PLACES
WHERE PEBBLES ARE POLISHED AND DIAMONDS ARE DIMMED.‖ In the end, the time table in charge dictated us time table.
After it, the ceremony was over and we had a round of the college. We were in the group and consequently we didn‘t bother the senior
students during our further stay at the college. One of my fellow students took us to the college library. There were many cabinets full of books and
magazines. Many students were reading books and newspapers. There was a huge collection of books on every topic particularly on English
literature and science. The friendship with books can really bring outstanding results. Books are reflection of stream of knowledge. As it is well said,
―IF WE ENCOUNTER A MAN OF RARE INTELLECT, WE SHOULD ASK HIM WHAT BOOKS HE READS.‖–RALPH WALDO EMERSON. The serene

atmosphere of the college library urged me to sit and plunge into the ocean of intellect and wisdom. We saw the classrooms which were equipped
with overhead projectors and air conditioners.
The corridors were decorated with colourful paints and flower pots. The walls were embellished with the portraits and pictures of literary
figures like Shakespeare, Marlowe, Tennyson, John Keats and etc. There were the portraits of scientists with their short biography. In fact, it was a
superb sight. It is well said, "NO KNOWLEDGE WITHOUT COLLEGE, NO LIFE WITHOUT WIFE" Then, we went to the college canteen to refresh
ourselves with some cold drink. I found the students sitting here in various groups, taking tea, samosas, cakes, etc.
After it, I got free at 2 O‘clock and returned home fully satisfied with my college and its standard of education. Thus my first day at
college came to an end and left behind unforgettable memories. ALL THE REALLY VALUABLE THINGS YOU OWN ARE THINGS YOU CANNOT
PHOTOGRAPH.
