3 Student Choice Projects: The Catcher in the Rye Lara Porte

Chapters 1-5 Comic Strip: Students will use their creative, artsy juices to create an artistic
stylized comic strip of the first 5 chapters in the novel. It must include at least one comic square
for each chapter and must have great detail. Students can put it on poster board or a long piece of
paper.

In this multimedia project, students will feature some of the main dilemmas or tough situation,
the protagonist runs into. Students will re-enact them in a different way than the characters in the
story to find a better outcome and way to handle the scenario.

Chapters 1-5 Creative Short Story

Students will write a 5 page short story about Holden with a completely different life at his high
school age or about Holden as an adult, based on what we know about his character in the story.
