AtomoSynth iAbyssal v1.

0
Thank you for purchasing the AtomoSynth, iAbyssal version 1.0
Virtual analog oscillator / noise machine.

Main Features
1. The iAbyssal software synthesizer is based on the
AtomoSynth Abyssal, an analog noise machine which featured
a big photocell allowing the user to play it like a photo
theremin. The iAbyssal uses the frontal camera of the iOS
device as the photocell so the user can play it by varying the
amount of light on the frontal camera.
2. It features one oscillator, one white noise generator, two low
frequency oscillators, and one low / hi pass filter.
3. Factory and User patch memory.
4. Reset function for the Photocell (frontal camera) to adjust
sensitivity to light conditions of the environment.
5. Inter app audio and Audiobus supported.

Basic Operation
1. Tap the iAbyssal icon on the iOS devise home screen, the app
will start up.
2. Set the iOS device volume to a desired level.
3. The app will start to produce sound, vary the amount of light
on the frontal camera using your hand.
4. Change the parameters of the sound using the knobs and
switchers.

Photocell (frontal camera) resetting

1. To improve the playability you can reset the sensitivity of the
frontal camera of your iOS devise according to the light
conditions of the room.
2. Tap the photocell graphic labeled “reset” in the app screen
3. If you are using the app in a normally lighted room tap the
“Standard calibration” button.
4. If you are using the app in a very dark room like a concert
venue, tap the “inverted calibration” button.

Selecting and playing preset sounds

1. Tap the “presets” label.
2. Select a preset sound from the factory or user bank.
3. If you want to create a sound from scratch you can select “init”
4. Play using the presset you selected by varying the light on the
frontal camera using your hands.

Saving a sound
1. If you want to save a sound you created, tap the “presets”
label.
2. Tap the save icon in the upper left corner.
3. Write a name for your preset sound and tap “save”

On screen controls.

VOLUME knob.
It sets the master volume level of the instrument

RESET “photocell”
It resets the sensitivity of the frontal camera according to the light
conditions of the room you are.
Photocell switcher
It selects which parameter will control the frontal camera: the
frequency of the Oscillator “FREQ” position. The cutoff frequency of the
filter “CUTOFF” position. And the peak or resonance on the filter
“PEAK” position.

Voltage controlled oscillator VCO

VCO Switcher
It sets the waveform of the VCO “Voltage Controlled Oscillator” to
square wave or saw tooth waveform.

LEVEL knob.
It sets the volume level of the oscillator.

FREQ knob.
It sets the overall pitch of the oscillator. *Note: it becomes
disabled when the photocell switcher is in the “FREQ” position.

NOISE knob.
It sets the amount of white noise applied to the mix.

LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator)

The iAbyssal features two identical Low frequency oscillators, the only
difference is the MOD switcher which set different modulation targets.
LFO1, 2 switcher.
It sets the waveform of the LFO to square wave, inverted saw
tooth, or triangle waveform.
Rate knob.
It sets the frequency of the LFO.

DEPTH knob.
It sets the depth or quantity of LFO modulation that will be
applied.

MOD switcher.
For the LFO1 it sets the modulation target to: The oscillator
frequency in the FREQ position. The volume level of the oscillator in
the LEVEL position, and the volume of white noise in the NOISE
position.
For the LFO2 it sets the modulation target to: The cut off
frequency of the filter in the CUTOFF position. The resonance or peak
level of the Filter in the PEAK position, and the output volume of filter in
the AMP position.

FILTER
LP/HP switcher.
It sets the mode of the filter to Low pass or High pass.
CUT OFF knob.
It sets the cut off frequency of the filter.
PEAK knob.
Is sets the resonance level. At high levels it adds a distortion
effect to the sound.
HOLD switcher.
In the ON (upper) position it holds the actual value of the
Photocell (front camera) allowing you to use both hands to play with
the knobs and switchers.

Delay Effect Pedal

DELAY label
Tap the DELAY label at the upper right of the app screen, it will
show the AtomoSynth delay effect pedal.

DELAY knob.
It sets the delay time of the effect.

FDBK knob.
It sets the FEDBACK level applied to the delay line, when set at
the maximum, it will create a loop and auto oscillate.

LEVEL knob.
It sets the level of the effect, it is say, the amount of delayed
signal to be mixed with the original input signal.

ON/OFF switcher.
It switches on and off the effect.
