“When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, you will

ERIC THOMAS

H
ello, how are you?

Bom vê-lo novamente aqui! Espero que esteja gostando do

desafio.

arrepiados! O que será este “algo”, Maoee?

Vamos para o que interessa, Verb to Be:

16
Basic English –B1- BEGINNERS

Bom, o Verb to Be ou como costumam chamar, o Verbo “Tóbi” significa, em

português, ser e estar. Sim! Dois significados para uma única palavra, isso
facilita muitas coisas, não é mesmo?

Mostrarei alguns exemplos agora:

Richard is my friend. (Ricardo é meu amigo.)

I am Italian. (Eu sou Italiano.)

I'm from Spain. (Eu sou da Espanha.)

It is a computer.

portuguesa.

17
Basic English –B1- BEGINNERS

O Verb To Be na negative form:

A fórmula da negative form é simples:

Pronoun + Verb + Not + Noun (Substantivo)

18
Basic English –B1- BEGINNERS

Olhando desta forma, o Verb to Be fica mais fácil de ser compreendido, não é
mesmo?

CARDINAL NUMBERS

Ex: 555-3882 = five-five-five,three-double-eight-two.

ORDINAL NUMBERS

a adição do sufixo -th.

No inglês, no entanto, apenas o último
algarismo vai para a forma ordinal:

21º - vigésimo primeiro = 21st - twenty-first

72º - septuagésimo segundo = 72nd - seventy-second

167º - centesimo sexagésimo sétimo = 167th - one hundred and sixty-seventh

27
Basic English –B1- BEGINNERS

205th – two hundred and fifth

440th – four hundred and fortieth

Números Ordinais em datas - Ordinal Numbers in dates:

May / 13th May.

O modo como se fala é geralmente May the thirteenth ouThe thirteen of May.
Entretanto, no inglês americano, também é possível dizer May thirteen.

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved

you, so you must love one another.

Jesus Christ
Vamos aprender os meses do ano agora. Fique atento!

MONTHS OF THE YEAR

DAYS OF THE WEEK

Estes são os DAYS OF THE WEEK:

Veja alguns exemplos:

I go to church on Sundays. / Eu vou à igreja aos domingos.

38

Do e Does...Hmmm. Você já deve conhecer essas palavrinhas…

Exemplo:

COUNTABLE AND UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS

Podemos usar esta fórmula: ONE/TWO/THREE + COUNTABLE
NOUN (um/dois/três... + substantivo contável). Podemos usá-los deste modo,
porque PODEMOS CONTÁ-LOS: ONE car, TWO flowers,THREE apples, etc.

PLURAL (= two or more, dois ou mais). Vejamos estes exemplos:

SINGULAR: a car, my car, the car, etc. (um automóvel, o meu automóvel, o
automóvel, etc.)

PLURAL: cars, two cars, the cars, some cars, many cars, etc.

REPARE AGORA NESTAS CURIOSIDADES GRAMATICAIS:

automóveis do mundo,

NÃO PODEMOS USAR o artigo definido the: CARS are expensive (OS

definido the: He's buying THE CARS (Ele está acomprar OS AUTOMÓVEIS).

NÃO DIGA: I don't have car para significar Não tenho automóvel.

DEVE DIZER: I don't have a car.

UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS (SUBSTANTIVOS INCONTÁVEIS)

Por exemplo: water – água; rain – chuva; rice – arroz; money – dinheiro, etc.

NÃO PODEMOS USAR a fórmula ONE/TWO/THREE + UNCOUNTABLE

NOUN (water/rain/rice,etc.).

NÃO PODEMOS DIZER: one water, two rains, etc.

OS SUBSTANTIVOS INCONTÁVEIS TÊM UMA FORMA ÚNICA:

money, the money, my money, some money, much money, etc. Exemplos:

I have some money (Tenho algum dinheiro); There isn't much Money here (Não
há muito dinheiro aqui);

Money isn't everything (O dinheiro não é tudo).

ÚLTIMA OBSERVAÇÃO SOBRE ESTE PONTO:

NÃO PODEMOS USAR A FÓRMULA A/AN + UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS:
