IS SHAKESPEARE STILL RELEVANT AND IT SHOULD IT BE TAUGHT IN SCHOOLS
TODAY?
Some people, especially young students, consider the study of shakespeare
plays to be an old fashioned, outdated idea that bears little relevance to their own lives. Yes, shakespeare is still relevant today because people can relate their lives to it. Also, they can learn lessons from it from doing what’s right and wrong in life from learning shakespeare. Therefore, shakespeare is still relevant and it should be taught in schools today so you can learn things that could be relevant to people own lives. First, shakespeare’s work is still relevant today because we can relate to the characters. While this may be true, experiences can still be related to the experiences of the characters. This supports my claim because we ourself can relate to the characters in shakespeare’s work this makes shakespeare relevant and it being able to be taught in schools today because students can learn something from shakespeare and the characters acting in the story/play. Secondly; Shakespeare should still be taught in schools to be interesting. to dismiss Shakespeare on the grounds that life 450 years ago has no relation to life today is to dismiss every religious text, every piece of ancient mythology, and…everything that wasn’t written in whatever time defined as now. This is a great argument, and one that I agree with. Just because a piece of written material wasn’t written from a twenty-first century perspective doesn’t mean that it should be dismissed as irrelevant, unimportant, or non-relatable. This supports my claim because shakespeare should still be taught in schools today because it could be interesting schools were students would want to learn about it. My final argument for this case is that shakespeare’s tales can spark interesting conversations and possibly even begin friendships. Learning that someone else has read a Shakespeare play can make you appreciate them more and quite possibly make them appear smarter than they would otherwise. This supports my claim that shakespeare should still be taught in schools today because it can start interesting convos and friendships and students can learn how to do that if shakespeare is taught in schools today. In conclusion, shakespeare’s work is still relevant today because we can relate/compare ourselves to the shakespeare’s characters. It should still be taught in schools today. Shakespeare’s work from a long time ago can still relevant and talking about the plays can possible build friendships with other.
