School Improvement/NCA
Mrs. Gallagher summarized the opening Curriculum Days for teachers this year:
o August 30th: Review of the new Middle School Grading and Reporting Policy.
o August 31st: Teachers participated in the district wide Articulation Day.
Budget Update
Enrollment is currently higher than budgeted at 1108 students. After Student Count Day, the building budget
will be adjusted accordingly.
Code of Conduct
The Student Code of Conduct was reviewed school wide on September 13 th. Mr. Plummer will review the
Code for absent students and new students.
Old Business
Mr. Baker asked if anything can be done to alleviate the congestion in the west parking lot in the mornings as
teachers are having difficulty getting in and parking before school. Mrs. Gallagher responded that we have
skylerted videos, discussed it at 6th grade parent orientation, tweeted information, had SLPD assist and has
monitored the parking lot in the mornings. Further suggestions are welcomed.
New Business
Mrs. Gallagher reported that the scheduled parent teacher conference format will be used again this year,
utilizing the same software program as last year at MMS and CMS. Conference scheduling information will be
sent out to parents and will open for scheduling on October 1st.
The Blessings in a Backpack group will be implementing their food assistance program at both Middle Schools
this year.
Additional locker keys are requested for 6th grade teachers to help students with jammed lockers. Mr.
Plummer will sign out more locker keys to the teachers.
Mr. Baker asked if Curriculum Night could begin at an earlier time, in line with the elementary schools, next
year. Mrs. Gallagher will pursue.
Mr. Baker presented a request from teachers for a discussion of new rewards/uses for Mustang Money. Mrs.
Gallagher will schedule a time for staff to discuss.
Mr. Tsavalias asked if teachers can be allowed access in Skyward to see which elementary school students
attended. Mrs. Gallagher will ask Mrs. Beagle if that information can be available to teachers.
