PROJECT SIX

Seattle
Stage One.
DESIGN OPPORTUNITY.
A | What is your idea?
My idea is to create a vlog/cinematic video of a city.
B | What learning outcomes do you expect to achieve?
2D, 3D, audio, and video digital media editing tools, including paid, freeware, open source, and cloud- based solutions;
principles of 2D graphic design; digital sound and audio data compression and desktop video production.
C | Why is it important to you?
I want to expand my skills to other programs, being cinematic. I love photography, so I want to create a cinematic video of seattle.
D | What is your part in the idea?
My part in the idea is going to do the cinematic video part in the vloig.
Stage One.
IDENTIFY POTENTIAL USERS.
A | Who would use your idea or who is your project intended for?
My project is intended to people who want to watch a funny road trip vid. The cinematic scene can be used by Seattle to show off their
city.
B | What is it intended to do? What’s the purpose?
My project is intended to cheer up people and to just do my best to entertain them and brighten up their day just a little bit.
C | What are some possible negative consequences of your idea? Who could possibly be affected by this negatively?
A possible negative consequence of my idea is that people don't like it and it doesn't cheer them up or brighten up their day.
D | How will competing social, ethical, and sustainability considerations impact your idea?
A possible negative consequence of my idea is that people don't like it and it doesn't cheer them up or brighten up their day.
Stage One.
PREMISES AND BOUNDARIES.
A | What will you need to carry out your idea?
What I will need to carry out my project is my phone to film and a computer to edit.
B | What boundaries could prevent you from succeeding in creating your idea?
One boundary that could prevent me from succeeding is the video not being entertaining. If it’s not entertaining then the video would
just be boring and that not the point of the video.
C | What is your plan to overcome these obstacles?
My plan to overcome this obstacle is to make sure I get a lot of footage so when it comes down to the editing portion I can try my best
to make it entertaining.
Stage One.

RISKS.
A | How are you taking a creative risk? How does this project make you a better digital artist or graphic designer?
The creative risk I'm taking is filming in a city with people watching. It’s going to be hard because I have to focus on lighting and
everything to ensure the video comes out perfect.

PLAN.
A | What programs do you intend to use?
Some programs I intend to use are Illustrator, Photoshop and iMovie

B | What exercises/new skills/prototyping will you do to prepare for your final piece?
An exercise I’m going to do is just practice filming and playing around with new features in iMovie like voice changer and the stabilizer
Stage Two.

PROTOTYPING & TESTING.

It was hard to prototype this project because it’s a
video. We did create key points of what to include,
but when we go to Seattle, we went with the flow.
Stage Three.
EVALUATING & DEVELOPING.
My peer that helped me on this project was my sister. She loved the project but gave us feedback that the music was too loud.
Stage Four.

Stage Three.
TECHNICAL REFLECTION.

1 | Discuss your strengths and challenges of this piece.

My biggest strength of this piece was being comfortable in front of the camera and capturing a lot of things around Seattle. My biggest
challenge was trying to make the video under 20 min because there was a lot of footage and I didnt want the video to be over 20 min
because then it’s too long. Another challenge was trying to get good quality footage. Because we were filming on our phones the
quality of the videos wasn't the best.

2 | What worked? What do you like? What was your favourite part?
My favorite part was exploring Seattle and seeing the city after along time and what I liked was filming because it was really fun and
something I’ve never done before so it was interesting.
One thing I wish I could change is maybe making the video just a little shorter because I still find it a little too long. I would probably
want to make it about 17 min or less.

3 | What would you do differently next time? What do you wish you could change?

Next time I want to do more a mix footage with cinematic and include a lot more cool things around a city into the footage.
Stage Three.
TECHNICAL REFLECTION.

4 | Did in fact meet all goals in your timeline?

Yes we managed to get the filming done in a day in Seattle and edits done a couple of weeks later..

5 | Did you achieve all learning outcomes of your project? If not, why?
I did achieve all learning outcomes for my project. 2D, 3D, audio, and video digital media editing tools, including paid, freeware,
open source, and cloud- based solutions; principles of 2D graphic design; digital sound and audio data compression and
desktop video production.

6 | What will you improve on for your next project?

What I will improve on my next project is doing something that I haven't done like 3D models.
The timeline for this project
was a bit messy. I relied on
Brandon to get the cases,
therefore I can work on the
website. We went over are
deadline, but it was worth it
for a better project. The
green highlights the DM
Classes we were working
on this. My deadline for the
website and to complete
everything was the 15th,
which we still went over.
