Dear Sir / Madam,

I am _____ and I am applying for a Canadian Student Permit. I have already secured my Admission for
the Hospitality Management Diploma at Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT) in
Manitoba. The study permit will allow me to pursue this 2 year program in Canada. My Letter of
Acceptance (LOA) from MITT for fall semester 2018 is attached.
Let me give you a brief detail about myself, my family, and why I arrived at a decision to go back to
school and chose Canada as my educational growth development and learning den for 2 years. I was
born on September 16, 1974, 43 years of age, and married to _____. We are blessed with two lovely
daughters, MykaYsabelle and Jhazmine Grace, aged 16 and 4 respectively. I am currently working as an
Accommodation Executive at _____a joint venture between Qatari Diar, Qatar’s leading Real Estate
developer, and Vinci Construction, one of the world’s leading design, build, and delivery civil engineering
Company, currently active in 40 countries. My main task as an Accommodation Executive is to provide a
suitable, clean, and affordable living accommodation to senior and junior staffs of our company. My
responsibilities also include making arrangements for payments regarding rents and utilities, and
supervision of maintenance works in all company provided accommodations.
The long journey of my career path has been like a roller coaster ride, has also some ups and downs.I
finished my secondary education in Mangaldan National High School in 1991, and I was accepted in the
Philippine’s premier merchant marine school, the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA), where
I studied for three semesters in campus and a year onboard a commercial tanker vessel plying the Asian
route. Unfortunately, I was not able to graduate and finish my Bachelor in Science degree because I
transferred at the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) where I finished my Associate in Marine
Engineering Diploma in October of 1997. After my graduation, I worked as a Messman/Steward from
1998-2000 onboard container vessels plying the worldwide route being handled by Senator Crewing
Manila Inc. After working onboard for two contracts (9 months each) I decided not to renew my contract
to focus on our family’s farm. My decision not to renew was also because I was worried of the high
incidence of piracy in international waters close to Somalia and even the waters off the Straight of
Malacca where most of our ships where I worked sailed that time. In 2002, my wife and I got married
and decided to raise our own family. Because I wanted to provide for our growing family, in 2004, I
accepted a job offer as a Laundry Attendant in Libya under Vinci Construction Grands Projects from
October, 2004 to March of 2010. In 2011, I was transferred from Vinci Construction to OEA Grand
Projects, one of the companies under the VCGP wing. I was on my vacation when war in Libya broke out.
Expatriates were being sent home and had no choice but to leave their work, including me. I had no
choice but to look for another job to support my family who depended on me. Fortunately, Vinci had a
joint venture with Qatari Diar which was doing some projects in Qatar and employed/ hired most of us
who were laid off because of the war in Libya. Because of my good record working for Vinci, April of
2011, I was offered work as a Housekeeper for their company guesthouse. My hard work and
determination paid off when the management saw the potential in me. They promoted me from being
Housekeeper to an Accommodation Executive in 2017.

Plans after study. After starting at the bottom, I feel that my career is starting to peak up and the
Management Course will help me further improve my chances of progressing and advancing in my
career in the competitive hospitality industry. If I will be given a chance to finish my study and obtain my
Diploma in MITT, I can arm myself with enormous knowledge and additional useful training in
Hospitality Management. I want to be more competitive, knowledgeable, to have more self-confidence
and be a role model to othersespecially to my kids. I want to show them that even at my age, I am still
very eager, have a determination to gain more knowledge and to study more for sell fulfillment,
development and satisfaction. With abundant knowledge and trainings that I can get in MITT, together
with my vast work experiences, I will be more confident that I could land a job when I decide to settle
down and work in the Philippines for I don’t want to grow old and stay long in Qatar. I’ve been longing
to finally be with my family, to watch over my kids whom I missed most of their growing years for I’m
always away to work, and to bewith my parents who are getting older and older as the years passed-by.
I wanted to spend more quality time with them, to physically and morally support them and my kids,
with every endeavor they want to take.
According to a 2017 data released by the Department of Tourism in the Philippines- tourism.gov.ph,
Tourism in the Philippines has been steadily increasing. In 2017 alone, there was a 19.60% increase from
the same period in 2016. There is a positive outlook in the economy of the country and because of this
Hotels and resorts have slowly increased, thus also the increase in job availability in the hospitality
sector. Positive growth in tourist arrivals in the country is expected to continue and sustained in the
coming years to come because of the governments’ aggressive marketing efforts of the Philippines
beautiful and enchanting islands.
In the event I decide to be with my family,I also plan to put up a farm resort in our province especially to
my birth town, to promote agricultural tourism. I believe it is sustainable and profitable as shown in
various research and studies. I know that there is a domestic demand with such farm resort where in
you showcase farm and native animals as attractions to tourists abroad or domestic. I can also showcase
some farm gardens where tourists can freshly pick vegetables, fruits, and crops on their own. From that,
I am also planning to develop my business plan to more fruitful and environment-friendly resort where
tourist can enjoy and have fun at the same time. If I become successful with my plans then I can help
my country’s economy by providing job opportunities to my fellow Filipinos as well as economic growth
and development by attracting some tourists to my country.
Why Canada? Canada is known for its’ high quality of life and dynamic multi-cultural communities
offering affordable and high standard of living. The United Nations (UN), consistently ranks Canada as
one of the best places to live in because of the protection of its people, respect for human rights,
equality, and a stable and peaceful society. International students can be sure of comfortable living and
be treated equally. Educational institutions in Canada are also internationally recognized for a
competency based teaching approach that prepares its’ students and graduates to be productive
immediately after graduation. You could easily get back your expenses after graduation. A Canadian
degree is globally recognized as being equivalent to those obtained in the US and UK but is generally
lower in costs in other leading destination countries. Other advantages of studying in Canada are
innovations and research opportunities, advancing career opportunities. Although generally, studying in
the Philippines is less expensive, the advantages mentioned above outweighs the cost of studying in the
Philippines.
Proof of Funds.Filipinos are known of having close family ties, that is why it’s no surprise that my family
has extended their financial help in my endeavors. I will be using my savings that I hardly earned and the
financial support of my family and in-laws as well. I can confidently say that I can sufficiently pay for my
studies and the cost of living abroad. Though my parents are both retired teachers now and happily
having the time of their lives living peacefully away from work at their home, they offered to financially
support me in my expenses for they no more support any of my siblings, who also have their successful
careers and stable jobs on their own. Given a chance to study in Canada, my parents hard earned money
that was been saved after their retirement and their monthly pension, can cover some of my needs
while studying. Also, my mother-in-law and my wife have stable and permanent jobs and are presently
working in a well-known and reputable Government hospital in our province, as Nurse III and
Administrative Officer I, respectively. Given an opportunity to have a study permit, my parents and in-
laws will be extending their financial support by providing for my allowances and cost of living while my
personal deposits and some ofwife’s savings would be used for my tuition and other school fees. I can
confidently say that my wife’s salary and other given government hospitals benefits can cover all of their
(her and our 2 kids) daily expenses, including my kid’s schooling as well.Below is the breakdown of our
savings and my expenses in Canada if given a chance:
Personal savings: 801,936.52
Wife’s savings : 230,210.18
Mother’s Support: 962,447.15
Mother in-law : 553,694.92

Total Available Savings: 2,548,288.77 PHP (63,707.22 CAD)

Expenses
Tuition Fees: 15,062 CAD (602,480.00 PHP)
Cost of Living: 10,000 CAD (400,000.00 PHP)
Total Expenses: 25,062 CAD (1,002,480 PHP)
“Never stop believing and educating yourself to achieve your dreams.”I always believed that education
is everyone’s right regardless of his or her age. It cannot be taken for granted. There are thousands of
people across the universe of being deprivedof this right but also of opportunities just because they
lacked the proper education and training. I hope it is not too late for me to be given an opportunity to
improve myself by giving me a chance to study in your country and use all the knowledge MITT will
inculcate in me to help other people and use it for the good of my family and my community. Rest
assured that once you give me that chance I will not put it into waste. I will do everything in my power
to be a good role model. I will give my best and follow all the rule of law of Canada.I earnestly implore
you Sir / Madam to approve my request for a student permit.

To God Be the Glory!!!

Sincerely Yours,
